as someone who makes a lot of salt water (for aquariums), it's hard to accurately gauge the salinity without a salinometer or refractometer even when you weigh the salt out. it's way too easy to make the water too saline!
I have 3 cans of that NeliMed saline spray and I prefer them to alcohol or witch hazel to clean. When I got piercings in the 90s and early 2000s, I was told to clean my piercings with alcohol. Then a few years ago when I had my daughter's ear pierced, the piercer gave me a can of the saline spray and it helped.
I remember when I was 18 getting my first piercing as an adult (I had my first lobes done as a kid and that’s all I was allowed until I was 18) and I opted for a tongue piercing (still have it 10 years later) and I got it done at a place called Blue Banana (U.K.) they gave me a small pack of salt maybe it was rock salt and told me to just get a mug and add it to hot water and rinse that around my mouth. My piercing healed fine but yeah I did wonder why I couldn’t use salt we had at home and they said something about it stinging my piercing because their salt was special salt 🤷🏻♀️ I recently got my septum piercing back in June with an independent piercer and she gave me Pronto Lind spray free with the piercing and I’ve really liked that one. My septum seems to be healing nicely. I know my friend in the area got her ears pierced with someone else who gave her NeilMed and hers healed fine. I’m wondering if they all use the same solution? What makes them be able to brand themselves differently if they’re all making the same solution?
I’ve used prontolind too! it was what came up when I went looking for a piercing spray. but I own them both for comparison and they’re definitely not the same mixture. NeilMed is only made up of 0.9% sodium chloride (salt) whereas if you look at prontolind, it’s not. in fact, it’s not even saline at all. there’s no salt. just some long name ingredients. so I guess that answers your question. they’re able to brand differently because they’re different products. however if you find a saline mix that only has 0.9% SC listed in the ingredients then that product is exactly the same as NM. but it’ll be cheaper because it doesn’t have the name attached to it or the weird bottle.
I might have missed it, but what are your thoughts on hypochlorous acid? Apparently a substance/spray that is believed to aid the body’s recovery. It’s used on cuts/scrapes, I’ve heard of piercers using it, and now estheticians and skincare lines are using it. 🤔
I found chamomile tea as an aftercare solution. I didn’t use it but was just as surprised as what recommendations there are. I have used boiling water and salt solution and have had no issues with aftercare. I actually found it to have reduced the swelling faster and created the crusts faster personally. However, I understand what you are saying.
@@LiterallyAllNamesAreTaken salt is antibacterial, absorbs blood and forces the liquid of the swelling out. When you have no access to other solutions it’s really useful. Saline is salt water.
I use H2ocean sea salt mix into a gallon of distilled water...soak my nipples then rinse them with Neilmed...this works well for me and I used the same procedure on my ear piercings...never a problem I take vitamins everyday...do you believe that vitamins can make a difference in healing piercings ? I don't know if it matters or not but it seems to work for me as I'm in my 60s

Drugstores always have their own brand of saline wound wash, it’s the same price as Neilmed (in my area) but the can is like 1/3 larger
@@notmychelle I can only find the non spray ones where I live, but I fill an empty, new spray bottle with the contents.
check the ingredients to make sure it’s 0.9% sodium chloride and nothing else. not all saline is built the same
my bestie almost bought rubbing alcohol for her bridge😖😤 i HAD to intervene!!

created the crusts faster? I think that just means you’re drying the area with the salt?

Do you have any tips for piercing bumps? I got a nostril piercing 1-2 months ago and have a bump. It kinda looks like a keloid but smaller.
…did you watch the video? even read the title?
