One of the best explanations of modern oceanic procedures I've come across. Great job! Things have definitely changed a lot (for the better) since the advent of CPDLC.

18:05 for the speed entry granted by ATC - especially when it’s different to what was requested - should you also check this against fuel burn? What if they give you a higher speed that you can’t accept due to fuel reasons?
@@A330Driver ok, so if you CAN accept it’s based on what you’ve already calculated (taking into account fuel). But if you CAN’T accept, and need to negotiate via voice, would this require you to, amongst other things, check fuel? And what if no voice is available? Assuming then use CPDLC?
Amazing video, I’m setting up the flight plan right now, I’m wondering do I put NATD for example into the route in the FMC or do I direct to the point after which is bedra for me.
You talk about not putting in any additional waypoints into the Legs page, but how do I do RTA to ETOPS Entry and Exit point when they are just coordinates? I cannot enter them into ETA unless they are in the Legs page.
hi Emanuel, I m one of your strict followers and learned many many things from your videos about pmdg 33x , 777 and airbus series. you mention about the e-book about 777. from where can I reach it. thank you for all your efforts and teaching.
@A330Driver Do you still plot your position on a plotting chart, Emi? And - when it says to use the non-steering long-range navigation system - does this mean to use the other FMS position, or the IRS position - as presumably GPS is updating the steering navigation system?
Thank you for the video :) well lil frustrated I fight since yesterday with PMDG 777 freeze, always when I click something in mcdu I will report that but I guess pmdg will not find this issue cause since almost a year this problem exsist, maybe cause the tablet idk..
Usually it helps to click the buttons slowly, especially while an uplink is loading. Don't rape them like most people probably raped their F5 buttons on releaseday!
The one thing I’m a bit confused about is the logon codes. I was reading on the pmdg forums and manuals that PMDG uses their own acars, they don’t use hoppie but only for a brief connection? I did not understand that well. So for the logon code, it is always the atc facility center callsign, even when flying domestic? I really want to get involved in using acars but was always a little confusing to me, not to mention in the early days of hoppie not many people were using it in the US
Hi.. yesterday I was flying pmdg 777 aircraft from Doha to Chicago. While cruising/flying over the Atlantic Ocean airspeed dropped to 0.78 Mach and engines were running at 100% but the aircraft wasn’t increasing airspeed. Max airspeed was 0.83 mach can somebody help me with it.
A great video, very detailed and complicated:). One thing though, when you said after you sent the message " that no one will answer today because we are offline" what does it mean? Do I have to be connected with VATSIM or something else to communicate the cpldc ? I have the hoppie code but I never get an answer from no one , what do I miss (I'm not flying VATSIM) Thank you for your efforts !!
Thx for making this video I will watch and study carefully once my brain recovers and I’ve walked 6 miles to pet shop in 30C heat 😭😼. The PROG cheat was the question I added in cruise video 😮
hey, thanks for the video. Just on question, I think you can answer. I planned a flight to BIKF from EDDF. Simbrief planned me a route, which crosses Shanwick airspace for a short time between ORTAV and PODAR. Do I need to request OCL from Shanwick or from Iceland (which is also oceanic airspace)?
Hi, in the real world you would probably have gotten a different route in first place. But as soon as you across Shanwick, you need to go through the full oceanic crossing procedure.
Little bit confused about you trying to get that 30w point into the box. Understand pmdg doesnt support it.. But how is it supposed to work? Also why not use the comm reminders feature?
@@Bren39 Not a 100% sure about it but I think he sould have entered W030 instead of W30. By doing that, your FMC will create a point along your route that crosses the West 030 degrees longitude. It obviously doesn't work if your route doesn't cross that longitude. You can even enter W030-4 for example. By doing so, the FMC will create points at the 030 degrees longitude and every 4 degrees so 030°, 034°, 038° and so on.
@@noah9130 I tried it IRL and format Wxxx does work but the insertion point is important.. You've got to select a fix before the longitude you're putting in. L1 is good. The planes reminder feature would be of better use but the longitude reminder feature doesn't seem to work.
Just to be clear: Oceanic clearence is only needed if you fly the published north atlantic or pacific tracks? If you just fly over the ocean outside of the tracks you don't need one, correct?
I have not watched the video yet but coming from the title, if this is a video about proper communications for flying online and how to manage waypoints, Thank you! I only know of one video by British Avgeek demonstrating oceanic flying procedures for vatsim
Hey Emanuel great topics you have mentioned in the video, enjoyed it. Im going to ask you if entering true heading mode is necessary or not. I believe some other youtuber real life pilot mentioned that you must enable true heading reference when flying oceanic and i havent seen that on the video.
That's a company thing. A certain airline group whom I'll not mention in here in order not to disclose anything about that youtuber insists on using TRUE north on atlantic crossings. Most others don't. It's a company thing.
4th video today! You really put a lot of effort into this channel, and I think I speak for everyone when I say that I thoroughly enjoy your videos.

How can I create a oceanic route when playing offline?
Would I tune UNICOM instead of the Air-to-Air-Frequency when flying Oceanic on Vatsim?

Probably one of those lovely MSFS wind shifts... not a lot you can do about it.
the fuel supply became insufficient to reach the intended destination.

what settings do you recommend for long haul flights?
The rest of the tutorial series will be behind the paywall..?
I usually release videos as early access for channel members, yes. They will gradually become available for everyone.
NOTE TO SELF:
Oceanic Clearance 11:00
Track entry and frequencies 25:50
Hasn’t this changed since the RCL system was implemented?
No, it hasn't.
It changed in April...by end year the entire NATHLA will be like KZNY.
Will pmdg release a 777-200 ?
Yes, the 77F as well
They will do the Freighter, 200ER and 200LR. Not the base -200 though.
for 777
You would think these days there would be some radar equipment placed across the Atlantic
The only problem with that: Where would you place it? On ships? That'd be pretty expensive.
