This is Anthonys' third video with them and he's done a few minis. This is a rare Eli ( Ellie ) arrangement. They were very emotional in their cover of I Can't Make You Love Me.
Eli did this arrangement. So glad they opened with Cesar - he handles emotional/wistfulness so beautifully. Anthony and Eli are great here. And Geoff wanting the perfect body (too late) with Layne keeping the beat going. This is so gorgeous, heartrending, and wistful. A perfect example of "if only".
Definitely get 7 Nation Army. And don't miss Golden Hour that also features Anthony. The story in that one is really cool. VP usually makes me happy too but every once in a while, they'll do something like this that just destroys me (but in a good way, lol). Great reaction guys! And I hope you feel better soon!
I am old, so never heard of the song, never heard of Radiohead (except for Geoff's version of High and Dry). The thing that is really special about this cover is that the arrangement was done by Eli (elly), not Geoff or Layne as usual. He's done one other arrangement for them, Eleanor Rigby, three years ago. I hope we don't have to wait three years for another from him. You didn't react to their cover of I Can't Make You Love Me, or you would have seen their emotional, vulnerable side then. They are so very special!

Like you, I have often had to look up the original and still not recognized it. But they do expose me to a lot of music simply because they do such a stellar job that I check out the originals and add new people to my playlists. That is the magic of VoicePlay. 🪄

That will never happen. Pentatonix gives the impression that no other group is good enough to collaborate with them. From what I understand, Voice Play has already reached out to them & they never responded back to them.

I was a little concerned when I saw that you covered this because I know you like music with positivity😊 and this is so emotionally wrenching. Watching Jess’s face was like looking in a mirror except that I had tears running down my face. I bet I’ve watched it 50 times and have yet to get through it without tears. There is something about that vulnerability of looking in the mirror. Eli arranged this and he and Tony Wakim did the direction. They had to completely enclose the room so it would be black and Tony was behind the curtain, just like the Wizard of Oz, calling out direction based on what he saw on the monitor. That transition was amazing to watch. They filmed the whole group, then focused in on Cesar while the rest of them scattered! (The mirror was Cesar’s and also got cast billing in the credits😆.)

Anthony was also in "Golden Hour" and his voice there was so beautiful. His smooth riffs are the perfect counterpoint to Eli's rock grit. The video is a weird little concept of a Pinocchio style toy maker (her shop is German for "Voice Play") trying to make the "perfect man." The woman is played by Geoff's wife, Kathy, so... not spoiling the ending of the video but... I mean, she has the perfect man! Those two are such an inspirational love story.
"True Colors" makes me cry, especially because it was one of my mother's favorite songs and she passed away a couple of months ago. I've listened to their version hundreds of times since then because it's so emotionally cathartic.

So I have to recommend a beautiful older song cover that they did back when Earl and J None were still in the group, if you were interested in another song that they put a lot of emotion in. And that is their cover of True Colors, its truly something special as well. Also their cover of I Cant Make You Love Me is also another song that they pour their hearts out into.
