    I love how you say if you're thinking about food, eat, or that mild hunger is normal. As someone who struggles with delayed eating, I don't have good hunger cues. I'm often tired, loopy, or cranky and still not hungry, but these ARE hunger cues.

    There is some sternness or directness that I appreciate from the videos you make. You seem like you could be a great consultant, haha.
    This topic is probably the biggest issue I run into nowadays - not paying attention to proper nutrition. Not really eating unhealthy being the issue, but making sure that I am eating enough. I am currently recovering from an injury that I think was partially caused by my nutrition habits. I rarely eat before any of my workouts since I worry about feeling heavy/nauseous (whether I eat a lot or not). I do usually wake up an hour or two before my 6AM workouts, but still do not eat. How do you do it? Should I just eat around 4?
    Also, I would love to watch an injury prevention video and what you have learned from previous injuries (I know you mentioned the topic in your D1 athlete video)!
    Great video again Ellie 😊

      Thank you! If triathlon doesn't work out, maybe I'll try for a consulting career haha
      With eating before workouts, I'd start off eating something light 1-2 hours before, like toast & banana - something that'll give you energy but not weigh you down. I think you'll notice a huge difference in performance if you train with some food in you!

    My hunch is that it would be easy to talk another 45-50 minutes on this subject but you were really concise and covered a lot of ground in the 12:40 you used. It was interesting to hear your thoughts on how to adapt to tri-specific nutrition and not just from the runner's perspective. Thank you for posting this!

      Your hunch is right - I don't think people would want to watch me talk for an hour though haha. Thanks so much for watching!

      Ellie Abrahamson have you considered doing a couple product reviews for future videos? you have a lot of experience and expertise and probably a wide-ranging audience. Therefore, I bet some might be curious as to what you'd recommend as far as running shoes, apparel, bike equipment, swimming caps, etc are concerned :)

    Hi Ellie! I’ve been loving the videos! Thanks for making them! Eventually could you make a video about finding the right bike and that part of triathlon? I’ve been wanting to pick up cycling as a hobby and maybe try racing if I like it. Thanks so much!

    I love this video and how real and geniune you are! Question for you: How do you approach food on your rest days? Do you eat as much as you would on a training day? Today was my rest day and I literally just sat on my couch studying ALL day. Only moved to shower and go to the fridge. lol Sometimes I struggle with feeling like I shouldn't eat the same way since I'm not burning as much...even though I've noticed that my appetite on rest days is generally about the same as on training days. My appetite comes in one size: MASSIVE. haha I'm currently a runner but would love to try out some triathlons after graduation!

      @EllieAbrahamson  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It always varies, but sometimes I'm even hungrier on rest days than intense training days! Your muscles are working hard to recover, so you need a good amount of food. I feel you on the massive appetite😂

    Omg I am dying.... I heard the part at 3:50 as “people who are 6’2; 12 inches shorter than me” and so of course I’m out her thinking you are 7 feet tall

    I am training for the L.A marathon. What is the best post-race food/drink? I usually drink chocolate milk.

    • @vinnysenn8746
      @vinnysenn8746 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tim Croghan I think chocolate milk is fine but for a marathon probably just have a lot of carbs and protein

    • @EllieAbrahamson
      @EllieAbrahamson  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think chocolate milk is great b/c it naturally has a 4-to-1 carbs to protein ratio. I'd get in a high quality snack shortly after racing as well to further speed up the recovery process, maybe something like greek yogurt w/ granola & berries or a protein smoothie w/ banana

    #2 is 100% me after a long race. Feel like I would throw up if I eat right after a 10 miler or half marathon but I force myself to have something because I know my brain is being stupid.

    Didn’t you have a nutrition center for athletes when you were in college because you ran d1.

  • @JohnQuest2
    @JohnQuest2 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    For a professional athlete who trains full time, I would recommend a sports nutritionist to get the proper carb-protein-fat ratio dialed in for optimal performance. And if your nutritionist recommends no coffee, find another nutritionist because thats just plain ridiculous. ;-D
