Mystic topaz started being created in 1998 by coating the stone with titanium in a heated vacuum chamber after the titanium is vaporized by heat. Nowadays all types of stones are coated this way.

You absolutely can Catherine. If you have this happen to a piece of solder that is sitting on the metal you are trying to connect, it generally means you melted the solder with the torch flame rather than by getting the metal up to soldering temperature, thereby causing it to melt. If you bring the metal back up to the melting point of the solder, it should puddle and stick to your piece. Hope this helps:)
