Love the sempervivum videos! They're the only succulents that I can keep alive in my region😂

Good luck with the house leeks, I might try them from seed as well to add a bit of variation to my very limited collection of 2 types. ( I did have more, but the Blackbirds stole them)
I agree with you on the removal of peat from public sale, and not before time. I have used peat free compost for years with mostly good results. For the last three or four years I've used melcourt Silvagrow multipurpose and apart from it holding a little more water than peat composts , it does a perfectly adequate job. I'm also pleased that John Innes composts are mostly peat free as well now, if only the quality of the loam in them was consistent.
    I don't often go to B&Q, perhaps I should.
    Keep up the good work.

Thank you so much as always Royalize xx The use of peat for horticulture is such a huge problem, I can't understand why the industry worldwide is so resistant to change when what they do is literally meant to help our environment by encouraging gardening, biodiversity, wildlife etc etc etc. If you have the ability to start a petition to your government, write to the head offices of garden centre chains and retailers etc that will begin to apply pressure to the soil suppliers. Then change will begin xx

Thanks you so much. I am plagued with ants in my stone trough of sempervivums and they put the sandy grit all over the plants. Any advice?

It's tricky, there are a few things you can try. First make sure there are no aphids or whitefly that the ants are farming for honeydew. Either way, spraying a dilute mixture of dish soap onto the plants will kill off aphids, and onto the soil surface in the evening, flushing it through in the morning will dessicate the any ant eggs. Cinnamon is meant to be a natural repellent, or some say to place a dry mixture of sugar and bicarb of soda round the planter. The ants attracted to the sugar, will take the mix back to the nest and the bicarb will dessicate the eggs.
You could also try watering more frequently for a week so the ants aren't so keen to live in the trough...but don't let your Semps get waterlogged xx
