@@robweaver7153 Not sure if you're disagreeing with me that it's an incredible song or with the definition of underrated. If you're not a big fan of it that's fine. But I think it's one of their best, and since not many think of it that way nor is it very popular even among fans, hence imho it's underrated.
@@robweaver7153 Glad you love it and I would hope that most true fans love that and most if not all the songs on their classic albums. But I've already explained that it's one of my faves and I think it's one of their best, hence I call it underrated with the implication that "most Metallica fans" do not think of it as such - you yourself didn't classify it at that level. I haven't ever heard anyone say or write about this as one of their best, nor do I remember anyone ever saying it's even one of their faves, whether back when it was released or now. It's certainly not one of their most popular or loved songs on their classic albums. Hell, it's rarely if ever even mentioned among people's faves/best on AJFA, let alone out of their entire catalog.
I'm really digging your interpretation of the lyrics & the composition. Things I never thought about as many tines as I've listened to this song. Very thoughtful.
What an insightful reaction. Bravo my man. This is my favorite Metallica song. This song gets better the more you listen to it, and the guitar solo is one of my favorites of all time. It’s incredibly complex for how simple it sounds.
The observation that the shortest straw being pulled for you before you have a chance is spot on and something that I hadn’t thought of. Also, you mentioned that the solo came out of nowhere which I think was the intention as its on point with the theme of the song. I didn’t get the empty feeling that you described, to me it was more dizzying. Aka, vertigo which is mentioned in every verse.
Shortest straaaaaw, has been reacted for you :) Thanks Dave! And try to listen this song during workout, you will squeeze all your energy out of your body :)
Glad to see you finally did this song, I was bugging you quite a bit for this one. Also glad to see that you liked it Dave. This one's a killer. Great Reaction bro, keep 'em coming
Great one! The 1st reaction video i saw of yours was a Metallica song, can't remember which one. I was impressed with the analytical way you evaluated that song. 👍🤘🥳
I just recently found your reactions on youtube, and I am loving them. All of your Metallica reactions are superb. I grew up listening to Metallica but listening to your reactions has made me look at these songs in a different light. it's really great listening to your opinions about the lyrics. One song I would love to hear you react to is suicide and redemption.
Ahh I missed your Metallica reactions. That’s how I discovered you. I think you barely had 1k subs back then when you first started Metallica. Good one!
Would like to see you do a few from the S&M album where they play with a whole orchestra. Since you have musical background, your opinion would be awesome on these!
I shouldn't still be amazed at the fact that they were quite young (relatively speaking) when they were writing the incredible lyrics on Master of Puppets and And Justice for All. But I am still amazed for some reason.
Hey Dave, great choice finishing out the Metallica ...And Justice For All album 👍. Check out a tune by Dream Theater called Pull Me Under. Tremendous tuneage 💪😎
You're not the only one who thought the guitar solo was empty, flat and missing something. Kirk Hammett felt the same way while playing this song on tour in the mid-90's, so when it was time to tour in support of the ReLoad album ( '97-'98 ) he had come up with a brand new solo for the song.
This is probably a bad analogy but Metallica songs are composed the same way as an amazing meal. There are many parts you may not expect, but if they were removed, it wouldn't be the same.

This song is about McCarthyism and the red scare in the 50s and 60s. The song (and the whole album) really applies today but you have to reverse the roles. It’s the authoritarian/communist types coming after liberty-minded types today.
I'm really waiting for EYE OF THE BEHOLDER. It has one of the best solos in Metallica discography. But the switch-ups could have been better, in my opinion (just saying; although all of the riffs are DOPE as hell)
I don’t either. It’s optimized perfectly. TH-cam strikes again. On my old channel, my Metallica “One” reaction got about 100k views. Now my stuff barely crack 3k.
This song is about cliff button their original bassist before he died , him and lead guitarist Kirk Hammett drew straws for who would sleep in the bus front or back Kirk ended up in the front where it was colder the back was warmer. When the accident happened the back of the bus landed on cliff burton. When though he win in the draws of straws. He lost his life cause where slept on the bus.
That's not what it's about. All ya gotta do is read the lyrics. Anyone can see it's not about switching seats on a bus. It's about McCarthyism and The Red Scare, Cold War America in the 1950's.
This whole album is a masterpiece.
Yeah seriously, I really don’t think there’s a single bad song on this album
BBuuuuhhhh... you took the words right outta my mouth!
Absolutely
@@osirisdragon483 Bruh literally every song on this album is 11/10. Even that’s not enough to describe this gem of an album.
This is one of Lar's best drum performances with the double bass using it in sweet triplet rhythm to emphasize with the guitar during the chorus.
@@JaggedDagger a lot of people don’t respect lars’ genius
Metallica definitely set the bar with regards to being a complete band clicking on all cylinders 🤘😝🤘
This one. I think this one is my favorite Metallica song. This whole album is amazing from start to finish.
Excellent breakdown to one of their most underrated songs imho. Thanks for deciding to finish off reactions to AJFA, an amazing album.
Underrated? Hardly. Maybe not mainstream similar to most of their songs since they aren’t made “radio friendly”.

That second solo with James chugging that big fat riff in the background gets me hard man, what a song what an album, what a band 🔥
