- Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud schooled a lawyer today for attempting to disrupt proceedings during the Supreme Court's hearing on alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). NEET is a nationwide examination for admission to medical courses. Advocate Mathews Nedumpara, representing one of the petitioners, interrupted while Narender Hooda, also a petitioner's representative, was addressing the bench.

If he wants to, he can judge the government itself. He's basically the one who enforces the justice and keeps the legislative and executives in check. In official and legal contexts today, the Chief Justice of India is typically addressed as "Your Lordship" or "My Lord" in court by advocates, but this is more about formality and respect rather than implying nobility.

Im feeling bad for students because of no reneet but it was very much constitutionally correct as the conditions for Re-Neet were to prove nationwide proofs of misconduct and cheating but no concrete evidence was provided on the matter of mass level cheating hence ReNeet would not happen.

Denied what? The entire petitioner argument was based on emotions, deflections, and assumptions. No proper substantiating data or statistics were provided to the court by the petitioners, only allegations that the leak is more widespread than the investigation reported, which was completely baseless. Even the CJI told advocate Hooda that it isn't possible to cancel the exam based on the hypothesis that the leak is widespread, especially when there's no supporting evidence.
Their final verdict literally states that the they don't think a reneet is justified given all the material that they have.
I mean, the court gave them 4 days to argue. if they had really "denied everything they said", they would've decided on day 1 not to conduct a re examination.

As per mathew the thing should come under govt in charge to check for the transparency of the exam and not to the court and also he suggested that the exam can be considered as a preliminary and those scoring above 164 should be allowed to reappear for neet ug exam no doubt his idea was good but lost the trust by his bad manner since SC allows eceryone to make there point and thus he should be having patience....

The Supreme Court is not the personal fiefdom of the CJI.
It's a bench headed by CJI. So even literally CJI has the authority to dictate the court proceedings. And he gets this power from the Constitution only.

Admission of guilt is evident by the action of throwing empty threats not followed by assertive action against the lawyer. It’s called Dhamki not dictating an order. Also boasting about the number of years of experience is a weak argument by the CJI to assert his control over the bench. There are legal luminaries who have far more years of distinguished service but do not display this level of arrogance.
CJI acted very patiently, respecting that lawyer's age.
I had expected justice from CJI sir but today it has been proved that he too has not been able to give complete justice.

CJI never said he's not listening, he clearly mentioned multiple times that Mathews shouldn't interfere when Hooda was speaking and he'll let him speak once he's done listening to Hooda. Mathews continued to pull the seniority card ('I'm the senior-most lawyer') and did pay heed to the CJI's order - hence was removed.
This senior lawyer has a habit of doing this. You may take note that he has been convicted of contempt of court for such behaviour before, and he has been let off on many previous occasions for unruly behaviour, only to bitten in the tail again!

I am hopeless from judicial justice... Still have to appear before them hoping that... I m also an officer of the court and even if judge can be liable for contemp of his own court!!! But now judge thinks they are court itself!!! Which I find a thin line difference!!
