I loved this talk. Thanks. You know, I'm retired now and I have done hustles all of my life, and believe me, I have made more than just a few side bucks. These are bucks that bring you across the finish line, because they pull you out of the "never get ahead" life struggle. You have picked some great ones. Keep doing some more of these ideas for the generations to come.
Most of these are not side hustles but just jobs finding jobs for all of these is a lot of work on its own

That doesn't make it a side hustle, in the spirit of the modern context. In modern context side hustle is about ROI (return on investment) with a *minimum* amount of time invested for what, when calculated net earnings divided by hours to earn it, turns out to be a much higher wage scale than the person's current primary household breadwinning income source. There's a ton of posts here clarifying what this video calls side hustles is a misnomer for a 2nd income source. That's a 2nd job, not a side hustle. Most true side hustles require a minimal amount of time because they are variations of online commission-based earnings referral marketing, where the time invested is in generating traffic and steering it (front end) to the offer provider (back end) who handles all the legalities, payment gateways, administration, etc etc... It usually takes a lot more time in a real life or brick & mortar business models to generate positive cash flow at all let alone significant & sustainable ROI. What this guy is talking about in this video is basically misinformation *clickbait* _IMHO_ .....
A lot of these you forget to mention insurance, licensing, and bonding.

You missed that most of these will require insurance, workman’s comp and some will require hazard pay and licensing.

These are mostly terrible ideas. For the following reasons.
1) most of these aren't "side hustles", they're full-time jobs.
2) most of these things fall under the umbrellas of other existing businesses.
3) for things like road kill collection and trash pickup, even if there weren't already entities dedicated entirely to these tasks, you would need someplace to dispose of the dead animals and garbage
I don't know what kind of post-apocalyptic hellscape you live in, but in the vast majority of the US there isn't an open market for these things.
You just as well add every other fucking occupation to your list. But hey, you got the views to make your TH-cam money so good job, I guess
Plus many of these will require a registered business , insurances , licensing & specialist equipment. Many of these services have high non-paying levels and you are out the costs of products , fuel used. Government contracts are hard to keep (someone in the government will get their cousin/ uncle/nephew in on what ever lucrative contract) & you may wait a LONG time to be paid, 90 days is the standard but 120 is not uncommon. 😊

Fun fact: Curb address painting has been a thing for many years, I first encountered it in a book titled Jobs For Kids that was probably published in the late 70s or early 80s. I would have tried it if there'd been any curbs in the areas I lived in.
Appliance repair is definitely something worth looking into but I will say having a mentor in the industry for a long time first is the best way to go about it. My father started our business 50 years ago and it has never slowed down. Typical going rate for a completed repair is 250-500 and typically if a unit is condemned (not being repaired) your looking at 60-150 for your time. Run about 6-8 service calls a day. Do the math. Definitely niche into high end appliances because that's where the most money in the industry is.

With poop removal you have to be really careful about not spreading parasites or pathogens. Tools, footwear, gear all have to be thoroughly disinfected after each property.
Also, you're going to have to find someone who will take the poop off your hands

Many of those really are not good ideas in areas where too many people have already been doing them for decades. Where I live, it seems like more than 20% the traffic on the roads are amateur landscaper's, trash removal, handymen/remodelers (with questionable insurance or licensing), and mobile car wash and detailer trailers. I once did trash removal myself for a while, but then young guys only planning to do the work for a short time for some extra cash would undercut the prices, despite the average price already barely being worth the work. Around here, the average price was $60 for a truckload (standard full size pick up, approximately 6-8 cubic yards), mutually agreed between most people doing the same kind of work. In order to cover dump fees, fuel costs, and small percentage of cost to maintain and insure a truck, that only leaves about $20 to be made for one load, which takes about an hour to load, transport, and unload. If it takes two people, that's only $10 an hour for each, not counting downtime between clients. And then to be undercut by people who skip the dump fees by dumping illegally which gave the entire junk and trash removal business a bad reputation, and no value for anybody to do the work anymore.
Yeah, in a rural area you're gonna run into at least 3 landscapers/lawn guys for every property, if not more. It's the first thing people turn to when they're like "what can I possibly do to make money in this sh*thole"

Some of these are complete professions. Painting a house is not a "just painting a house", it consists a lot more details, practices, needs a relatively extensive theoretical preparation, and if you haven't learnt it, you'll be in a big trouble in some of your everyday cases. Painting ten houses a day? It's not impossible, but good luck living like that. Same goes for some chemicals, possibly in graffiti removal job, too. You'll need a license to be able to buy the really effective stuff. Appliance repair is an art and science in itself, and less and less models are actually worth fixing nowadays. This video screams you've never tried to do these, and you never talked to anyone to prove it's relatively easy stuff with no knowledge, zero years of experience, no affinity, etc etc...
Facts. Except the house painting is more common sense for anyone handy. Like using proper paints. Taping off parts you don't want painted. Having a air or airless paint sprayer gun. A very big ladder and common sense. You definitely don't need to be a professional to start this. I would recommend however practicing on your own house first or a shed. Lol
@@Elevatorelate about the house painting being common sense for handyman types.....well, kinda maybe, for very basic stuff that someone is willing to pay a freelancer/side job/side hustle/under the table worker only because they're not a DIY (do-it-yourself) type.......until and then there's when someone hires *that type of* _rookie painter_ to paint something that includes specialized skills, like not F*ing up the railings outside of a back patio and pool decking areas, without botching the job and screwing up tens of thousands of dollars of exterior concrete pavers, custom laid by hand by specialized tradespersons, wrought-iron or designer stainless steel tubular railings, etc etc...... man I work construction which includes upscale multi-million dollar properties, yet later when run by iron-fist budgeted property managers, wait til you see the look on their face when they realize they hired Beevus & Butthead driving the Cheech & Chong van, wearing greasy oil-stained coveralls, who leave smudge marks, grime, and missed spots all over the place, you gotta see the shit hit the fan to believe it... by the way I'm just a part-timer, being a jack-of-many-trades helper, watching this circus for oh goin on some 30-odd years now...that's all... but it's fun to watch anyways...
I worked for a painting contractor for about a year, and spent the first couple of weeks as a gofer and cleaning up work sites. They wouldn't even let me touch a brush or sprayer until I was trained on technique and demonstrated minimum competence. I learned a LOT about the trade from my boss and the other painters, and still had a lot to learn when I left to take a job driving a truck. Besides skills and knowledge, you need strength, endurance and courage. A fall off a 40' ladder can have serious consequences.
Not that you are incorrect HOWEVER, I believe this video is just an informative/ ideal generating type video. Meaning to give some people a few options to look into. My husband is a professional painter so yes, it is TREMENDOUSLY more tedious and experience/knowledge necessary to do efficiently and correctly. But anyone who ACTUAL uses this video as it is intended to be used, when they do the research on said side hustle they will learn that several of these "gigs" are not just pick up and run with kind of things.
Carpet cleaning. Depends on a area. Winter is slow. Gas for the day is close to $200. It’s an up and down business. People have money. You are busy. Soon as their is a economic down turn. Houseing crises, market crash, recall on anything. Your business will suffer. It’s great when it’s good. A nightmare when machine breaks. Oh yeah. Learn your machine. Read the manual. Use it as a guide. You knowing how your machine operates is a whole lot better and will save you time.
My side hustle for a long time used to be pizza delivery. Pretty simple and mundane - I only needed a couple extra hundred bucks a month. Made more though, it was a good delivery area. But I realized that people are willing to pay for the convenience of NOT doing stuff.
Back when I drove for Pizza Hut, it was a rare night that I didn't clock out with $150-200 cash in pocket. Superbowl night, World Series, similar big TV event would usually mean I went home with $450-500.
As a previous CEO it's not that simple. The insurance is one problem due to the world we live in. A lot of people won't pay or sue. Another is taxes. After you make over a certain amount of money, you are required to pay. So a side hustle is limited on the amount you can make and eventually the government will find out as not all transactions are cash.
Great list. Something to also consider are drone pilot services. You do need a commercial license to sell photos and other services, and there are drone registration requirements, especially if you're located near an airport. Neither are difficult or expensive. Drones have many different price points and the work dictates the features you'll need. Real estate work is probably the easiest service to sell, although there is competition. Focus on listing agents and listing agencies. Always get referrals and ask to use customers as references. Like all of these opportunities success is about marketing services. The opportunities are endless and it's a growing field. Drone work can easily start part time and become full time if desired. And it's fun!

pool cleaners in California is fantastic business same with gratify cleaning and a couple other but depending on what part of California you are in there will be 1 and 3 homes having a pool but like 40 other company's doing this. Also if you plan doing a painting home depending on what state or what country is may recommend a bit of learning. i say this because i do this and i sell paint from Sherwin-Williams and get a lot of contractors that have a license and don't have license that have no idea what the hell there doing and for some reason we know more then them. so recommend if your in the USA, or Canida to go to your local Sherwin and ask ask questions and the managers/ assistant managers are the best to talk to about this. there are Rep's as well witch tend to know a lot that can help so if you truely plan on doing this it might be helpful to talk to thoughts people for the paint part. I can also help with tips and recamending things that will kick start this alot better for a paint side hustle or even more.

I once thought about repairing cellphones, but for many repairs I'd need lots of spare cellphones to have replacement chips available. I wouldn't even know where to store so many cellphones at home... I'd need a workshop.
Started a general contracting/property maintenance company over 20 years ago so 80% these "side hustles" are part of the job. Claiming big income gets attention and attention gets you clients. They never deduct nonbillable hours, overhead like transportation, 30% self employment tax or liability insurance, to support there big income. Not understanding persona vs the reality of overhead is why 80% of small businesses fail in the first year.

yeah IT specialist is very broad. And just mowing lawns? Definitely most people hire a complete landscaping service, not piecing it out, lawn mowing with someone, tree trimming another, hedges another, flower beds another. So yeah, it's a complete package, and definitely not easy work. This is a job that is done year round, in wildly varying weather.
@@bigbaddms Yeah for sure I actually just got out of landscaping and you have to have contracts to mow people's lawns at the same time every week which doesn't even make money but keeps the customers around for when they need hardscapes and cleanups which makes the actual money for them. It's not a part time business. Maybe if you're a kid and you're mowing your neighbors lawn on the weekend sure but I clicked on this thinking it were for big boys
@@psyience3213 exactly. I knew that was a bit of a stretch. For sure back in the day neighbors would hire neighborhood kids to mow. And probably paid them $3-5. Now maybe they'd pay $20-25. But I bet most people would be afraid, they could be sued, the kid could be injured, maybe they will be accused of child labor, etc. That's gotta be one of the lower paid 'side hustles'.
@@bigbaddms I made good money mowing lawns in high school. I put a yard sigh at my house and got many people who wanted the lawn mowed, trimmed and / or raked. My regulars called any time they needed simple things done around the house. I could have turned it into a good living.

My family is in our 3rd Landscape season, & it is MASSIVE investment. We haven’t even hired yet. Don’t even have a trailer yet (10k), don’t even have a ride on yet (10k).
I do cleaning on my own and we always joke around how he makes so much more money but my overhead is almost nothing compared to his. He also has 10 yrs experience and is still learning.
So where exactly is the line between side hustle and full time job because a lot of these seem like they are intended to be full-time gigs rather than side hustles?
House painting, for example, isn't something you're going to do after work a few nights a week for a couple hours on the side. You're going to need to show up for 3-4 days in a row with at least 1 or 2 other painters and work a full day until the job is completed. If you're doing the work alone it might take a couple weeks to get the job done. I hope that side hustle works out, because you just got fired from your main job for now showing up.

I used to paint several rentals hoping for referrals but then a guy owed me $5g. The bankruptcy lawyer did not help me receive it 😒 It can be hard to receive service fees from people. They expect free tech services too.

The Maytag man in our town is selling his washer/dryer business because of constant problems with the new Water saving bs required by the government. Parts are constantly failing and people are always mad.
Model detailing. Make sure you learn how to properly detail. Using the spinning pads - Know how to not make swirl marks. Bought a used car that got a detail before they turned it in and when the wax wore off I have crappy swirl marks all over my car

I’m a well paid dog trainer but living in California, my money isn’t going far. I could start a YT channel on how to train but that’s against my company’s policy and never consider breaking my agreement.

I don't have to read all the comments to agree with the common theme these are in fact jobs and if you were to Google any one of them you would see plenty of certified businesses that offer those services so no you're not just going to post an ad and be doing that job you can go apply to the many companies that provide that service or you can start your own business license and provide those services that you list but you're just going to be one of many businesses that does that service and you'll have no experience unlike those companies and you'll have no clientele

That involves state certification and some knowledge of construction
To be fair you have some pretty decent ideas. I think that several of them you oversimplify them for people who are not necessarily talented or skilled in specified areas and there's always a requirement for transportation unless the product is brought to you. Albeit oversimplified about some of these things the intent and ideas are worthy of acknowledgement.

I think for everyone saying painting appliance repair IT are full time jobs or profession's think about how many times you ask Joey down the block to take a look at your car, he's saying if your handy and know how to do those things put out a flyer do a few get the basic insurance which isn't required in any state unless you make $600 which is enough to start insurance I painted houses on the weekends of my 9-5 job made a great vacation nest egg until my weekend weren't free anymore it wad my side hustle. Great video lots of work if you truly want a job lots of excuses why you can't do it if you really don't

I noticed a common theme in the comments that should be addressed. “There’s so many people already doing it “ that idea held me back for some time but I began to realize after a while that price and experience doesn’t always dictate whether or not someone will choose to do business with you or not. Between 2020 and 2023 the majority of my clients were a result of me being me…. Sounds weird but so many people just decided I was their choice just because! So, I guess what I’m saying is simply…keep putting yourself out there and you “will” grow a clientele just because you are you. Also… all these hustles can be used as a side hustle but it does take time and it definitely depends on the area you’re trying to do business in!

It’s rare if I get 500 for upholstery cleaning unless it’s a very large sectional or multiple pieces of furniture. It’s very hard on the body and you’ll need some pricey equipment and cleaning products to do it.
The side hustle I'm thinking about getting into is going to law school and being a lawer.
Just saying as a guy who used to build commercial pools and helped run the service side (cleaning) it’s crazy difficult to get into it in one of the sunshine states, as well as getting certs and licensing for commercial cleaning cuz residential cleaning is not where the money is plain and simple.

One danger in fixing computers for the general populace: you're likely see some the most gawd-awful pr0n collections. I once worked for an service provider that offered its customers free computer repair. You can definitely drop me in the cynic bucket when it comes to what people do on the Internet.

As it was, I was still cleaning up some pretty gourmet pr0n from business owner computers, but hey, they're paying me way more for that... At that point, they're not paying me for the service, they're paying me for my discretion. :D
Most of these are serious manual labor (in extreme weather), need an "investment", primarily geared for men, and are JOBS vs side-hustles.
Along the lines of junk removal, if you have a box truck or truck and trailer you can also do delivery/hauling service.
Where if people need help moving large items or getting larger purchases home.
Although may require a partner for heavier items.
I see a few ads on Craigslist for these type of services from individuals (not large companies).

Yeah, that would seem to be the case for most people. However, I've seen several videos of people making money cleaning trashcans.

'not even close' could mean you make $200k? or 400k? or even 150k? All pretty good. So does not even close mean 50k? Or what? I am familiar with interior painters that charge about $3-4k for a smallish condo, and they finish in one single day, every time. That's good money.
@@bigbaddms my best years were over $100k before 2008 since then it’s been less . I was working for service master doing insurance work , after that I bounced off 3 general contractors doing remodels . It’s always been up and down the hardest thing is keeping good employees after you pay to train them your way after about a year they will go find other work or just not work at all . All I can say is keep a good carrot for the employees to stay even then they may not nowadays.

Roadkill Collector--I saw one of these guys in action. On the back of his truck, he had an L-shaped rack and he had a deer on there (strapped on? not sure) He had large black trash bags in the truck. Wore PPE (Mask, gloves, flourescent reflective road vest, eye protection etc..) he had shovels and rakes and a flashing light on his truck. Just thought it was interesting because I always wondered who cleans that stuff up. I salute YOU, Mr. Roadkill Clean-up Guy.

That's normal in the US for a small lawn that takes me 15 minutes. The money is when you mow the whole neighborhood.
Yes but usually most lawn care companies have upward nearly 100 clients and keeps year long contracts. $90 is pretty cheap rates but most in my area charge more for a standard size lawn and extra for bigger lots or specialty care. Different rates for businesses and estates.
Blue collar work pays good if you have a consistent work history even without a degree. My last job paid with bonuses about $26-27 an hour worked 12-17 hour days 3 days a week. I just unloaded a truck (not a driver) got paid by the hour and just sat in the truck or sleeping. In total, I really only worked 5 - 6 hours a day. Long haul Driver helper jobs are the best

I watched on 1.5 speed. Most of the hustles are just not doable by average folks. I would do the junk removal, and maybe cleaning the cans. I would add tilling up small garden spots;would need a truck and tiller. Very seasonal though. As are a lot of these side hustles.
I basically watch all videos on 1.5 speed. Or at very least 1.25 speed. Either way, it saves my valuable time.

No, but if you are making enough money in your job then you will not need a second job. American jobs suck, you don't get paid much and the other "benefits" of having a job would be laughable if it wasn't so sad. Healthcare is only a benefit if you don't have a public health system. Which is mostly the developing countries where economic growth is more important than worker rights. Slavery may have been abolished but working 50 hours a week and maybe making enough to scrape by? The only difference between this and indentured servitude is that you have to do lots of applications in order to get a job and a place to live. Oh, and they can't beat you to get you to work harder. They just beat you *down.*

The people of the USA have this learned helplessness because they feel like they just have to put up with it because they're nothing they can do about it. The country is too big to have change like that other country. But they don't realise what they have in their hands. The whole US economy. And it would probably have a flow on effect for the world economy because they trade so much much with the US. How much do you think that a country where everyone works so many hours each would do to the businesses and the economy if they ALL WENT on strike at the same time?
This would take years of preparation and planning to make sure that people have enough supplies to get through the strike without having to work. Otherwise, it undermines everything that you are trying to achieve.

No one wants to think "I work 4 jobs" because it murders your soul. The younger generation hates the people in the older generations that have ruined the economy by seeking capital gains on their millions and billions through multinational corporations instead of investing in their own communities.
The younger generation has a lot of issues, but I'd say those issues are really the fault of the older, which never taught them and let everything go to hell. You used to be able to have a decent job, one job, and support a family, have a house and a car. Companies tended to at least somewhat reward and respect their employees. Now it's a free for all, greed is getting worse. Young people just don't want to spend the majority of their lives struggling to then retire just before being dead with little to nothing to show for it.

Municipalities and counties sub to roadkill collectors. You probably have to contact them directly. Always ask for referrals to other leads at other municipalities, the county and state level. Have a solid and legal plan for disposal and sell them your services on response time, that's what they care about. If you're in a deer area, get a crane for your truck.
