    I said glass and Acrylic. What I meant to say was glass and silicone. I cut 2 pieces of glass and used silicone to seal it. Also, here are links to the filter and filter pads I used as the aquatic side substrate.
    Link for filter pad substrate (costs $10.50 shipped): www.ebay.com/itm/Aquarium-Pon...2ltnlxnwCiznWg
    Link for canister filter (costs under $50.00 shipped): www.ebay.com/itm/3-STAGE-265-...kAAOSwUdlWg0gn

    I just got a pixie frog baby :) this is the best set up I’ve seen thanks for the ideas! I love the filter substrate for the water. I’m home everyday now so just changing the water whenever it’s dirty. When he’s bigger I’ll be getting a 36/18 just like this and probably mocking a lot of what you did here :)

    Hey i love the video you definitely have the what seems to be the most experience of anyone else here on youtube... i was wondering if you changed anything about the setup since you recorded. Anyway i was wondering if you could let me know because im thinking about rescuing one of these frogs and im not sure what to expect

    Getting a pixie next week. I was told that direct light or a light heat source is not recommended because of the humidity, soil dampness, and prolonged exposure to the frog's skin. What is your take on this. Just want to make sure I'm doing it right.

      Because I have a fully aquatic side, it's not that big of a deal. He gets to decide when to bask, soak, etc. He has options :)

    Does he defecate in the water? Mine will only go in his water dish and not in his substrate. I want this set up but am worried about how to get a filter or pump for the waste as well. Something that will be able to flush it out or handle the bio load from him.

    Very creative and well thought out structure you've built. I see your pixie is a male. I, too, wanted a male but mine is a female and I love her; she ain't going anywhere! I am searching for a male, however. How did you get a male? Was it just by chance?

    • @jmoorman26
      @jmoorman26  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was totally chance. I got him as a baby and just got lucky!

      I live in Houston and I called s&s exotics till they had juveniles 1 male 1 female paid 100 instead of 35 for a baby

    Your setup is fine.. Although am leaning towards trickle filters than pain in the neck canisters but ok..

    • @jmoorman26
      @jmoorman26  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The canister was the only filter that would suck up most of the waste. He's a big frog and makes a mess.

    How exactly does treating pads with beneficial bacteria work. I can’t seem to find much on the topic.
    Also can you do or at least state your one year later thoughts on the setup and if you thought of ways to improve it.

    • @jmoorman26
      @jmoorman26  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The bacteria works the same as it would in a fish tank (www.aquariumcarebasics.com/aquarium-water-quality/good-bacteria/). And I'm still happy with the tank. I can't think of anything else I'd do differently at this point. The setup is working really well. I replace the filter pads every few months.

    What temp do you keep your tank at and the water at, how often do you feed. Will the silicone harm the frog?

    • @snowballil3133
      @snowballil3133 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Andres Fierro
      No, silicone is the sealing in the corners and edges of fish tanks

    • @jmoorman26
      @jmoorman26  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The water temp stays around 78 degrees

    This is the most water I've seen for a Pixie Frog setup. Does he like it, or go into the water area a lot? This is a very awesome setup and basically the one I've had in my head for a while now for my American Bullfrog except better. This is exactly what I want for her! I've got a new Pixie too.

    WHAT KIND OF 2 LIGHTS DO YOU USE FOR YOUR PIXIE FROG TANK

    • @jmoorman26
      @jmoorman26  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use a ceramic heat emitter for night during the winter. The other light is a deep dome basking lamp with a 75 watt basking bulb. The UVB lamp just uses a reptisun bulb.

    What should I feed a baby pixie frog and when. Then when It is full grown what should I feed.

    • @jmoorman26
      @jmoorman26  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Insects should comprise the bulk of their diet throughout their life, but as an adult, I'll give him a mouse every few months as well.

    Do you think a starter could keep a Pixie frog?

    • @jordan2671
      @jordan2671 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Max Spurck yea they’re pretty easy to care for but males are double the size of females and need to eat a lot so feeding them could be pretty expensive. Most people wouldn’t want to spend too much money on their first frog

    • @jmoorman26
      @jmoorman26  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I breed Dubia roaches. It definitely keeps the cost of feeding extremely low, although it take a while to get a Dubia colony established.

      The heat tape stays at 90 degrees and the wattage for the basking bulb is 75 watts.
