Hi Andy, I think we have it right over here in Ireland, our specimens are weighed on certified scales that are tested on a yearly basis. Also we have a fisheries measuring mat to go with our claims. The small eyed ray is 10 lb and the length is 80 cm. All fish to be witnessed having been caught and weighed. Go to ISFC online to find other information about fish species and the weights involved. As regards boat fishing, photos of fish on a measuring mat have become the norm. Happy New Year to you and all your subscribers. Cheers Dan
Completely agree about speci weights; they should be universal and set at realistic weights. Look at SHAG, a small group that purposely travel to areas with low speci weights so that on paper they catch more speci fish than any other club. The same group has atleast 1 angler that was kicked out of the Angling trust speci competition for cheating (using 3 rods) and yet is still allowed to not only.fish it but he still uses 3 rods ... its a pointless exercise fishing against cheats that because they know the funny handshake are allowed to both continue to fish and openly cheat.
Jonny cotton, send me an email with your number mate I’d like to give you a call in the new year to discuss… I’m planning on doing something about this myself next year . seaanglingadventures@outlook.com
Sea fishing license........ not a chance. I fish solo. Wherever and whenever I want. I don't want any club politics , committee politics etc etc ruining my hobby
