It's not like he hasn't been stopped plenty of times this year. The 49ers have the best pass defense in the NFL this year, better than this list of teams that stopped him: Green Bay, Detroit, Buffalo (regular season), Las Vegas, New York Jets and the Broncos (1x). He's not invulnerable. Kelce, despite the media bias, has underperformed this year. The WR corps is spotty. And the whole offense has not exactly been lighting it up this year...
Please don't take this as defensive - but just who is the best defense in the league? Seemingly every team the Chiefs play supposedly has the best D. I thought the same thing, it's a complete role reversal comparing playoff run and team makeup. 9ers have a terrible D (all of the sudden) but their O is 1 of best in the league and loaded. Chiefs have a good O, best D, and all around better team. That's not saying Purdy is Mahomes like some rabid Chiefs fans and idiots like Wright will try to twist it. Mahomes is phenomenal, no question. But no quarterback wins laying flat on their back. SF pass rush is going to be a HUGE determining factor. Should be terribly exciting!

This is why it’s a team sport, and not QBball, the defense can answer the bell, which is the first such time we can say that with authority. Mahomes is going to play smart and empty the bus, you get a car, you get a car, you get a car, everybody is going to touch that ball, and I believe the 49er’s defense will be slowed down, by the many different ball handlers, they just need that O-line to remain stout.

I think mahomes is an all time talent and all that, but being down 7 and using that as a “crazy stat” isn’t too crazy. Being down a touchdown? Just not crazy
The worst offense Mahomes has had. But the best defense he’s ever had. Which has contributed to his management of the game - for the 1st time in his career, he doesn’t have to win it - he believes they can. The point differential is so glaring because this defense plays man-to-man a TON because they’ve got the guys on the backend to cover, McDuffie & Sneed. When you play man-to-man, turnovers go down generally (something I learned this season)
Rich, you are correct about the chiefs team this year, but not the defense which is the best he’s ever had. The offense has gotten better in the playoffs.
I won't be watching. I've had all the chiefs I can stand. The media is so biased. Don't they realize we can see through it? I feel like the guys on the major networks calling their games are even cheering for them. It's so annoying that I won't watch chief games anymore. It is not enjoyable.

Chiefs O-Line in Super Bowl 55 was Nick Allegretti G, Andrew Wylie T, Stefen Wisniewski G, Austin Reiter C, Mike Remmers T. Only Reiter and Wylie started week 1 and only Reiter was in the same position. 🙄🙄🙄
Mahomes had 9 INTs this season on catchable passes thrown to their receivers. 9 of 14 total INTs!!! That coupled with an elite D that has not benefited from the bounce of the ball and what you get is a terrible turnover differential that Rich is talking about. The Niners need to hope that the Chiefs let Toney and Skyy Moore play and that MVS gets a ton of balls because outside of the Chiefs dropping passes that fall into their DBs hands they aren't winning this game.
49ERS need to copy the Raiders Defensive game plan from 12/25/23, they have a better offense than the Raiders so they should win if the defense shows up
Where does Mahomes hide that Superman cape - it's got to be in there somewhere!? Insane stats - say a prayer, 49ers fans! Brock Purdy - Boy Wonder? Seems overmatched but "that's why they play the game." I just hope it's a close one, and let the best team win.
In all those comes from behind wins, the Chief's defense got the ball back for Mahomes, over and over again. This is the best defense the Chiefs have ever had and they always seem to bet better as the game wears on. As the shirt I am going to wear for today's game says, In Spags We Trust.
Purdy is 4-1 going into his first super bowl. Isn't that better than Mahomes in his first super bowl appearance? If Purdy hadn't got hurt last year, there is a good possibility he would be going into his second super bowl this year. Wake up Rich.
4-1 is marginally better than 3-1, yes. They're functionally the same. Also we can play the what-if game with Mahomes too: if Dee Ford hadn't lined up offside, and if the deep pass to Hill had been dropped instead of tipped and picked, Mahomes could be playing in his 6th in a row.
What I think it applies better to the situation is to think about what happened to Tom Brady the first time he faced Eli Manning. Trying to figure out the whole game around the QB doesn’t determine what will happen.
@@dfp_01 I didn't say what if. I said there is a good possibility the 49ers would have won that game if Purdy hadn't got hurt. They did kick the crap out of the Eagles this year, even after being down 6-0 in the 1st quarter.
Mahomes about to face his greatest challenge yet: A HoFer after only two seasons who's coming off the most dominant regular season QB performance of all time - the next Tom Brady / Peyton Manning / Joe Montana: his name is Brock Purdy What's Pat ever done to possibly measure up to Brock?
well first yes mahomes is a great quarterback but just like Brady that yall say is the goat witch he isn't Montana is the goat Tom had help with the refs help. alot of his wins was because the refs helped brady yes if we would have ran the ball in the 4th we would have won thr superbowl to but if anyone really watched not looked at thr superbowl the refs didn't call no holding calls on the chiefs bosa and buckner was held all game
I love the build up to what everyone sees as the inevitable win by KC on Sunday. Almost like the game doesn't need to be played at all now. Mahomes is God. Bow down before him. What would be a great ending to this season is watching Patrick Mahomes play like the Patrick Mahomes who played against the Raiders on Christmas day. I'm sure they'd love to cover their great and wonderful QB god right after that.
Regardless of all the stats about other players and other seasons it doesn’t matter. What does matter is just one thing, Sunday! That’s it nothing else. SF need to go in at 200 mph and do not slow down until they hold the trophy! Period
Beautiful words Rich, and it would make it even more amazing if the Chiefs get STOMPED. GO 49ERS! This is a team sport, and my team has been better all year.
Matt Haslebeck said the only person beating Pat is Pat. Rich grow up, Chris Jones is liking his chops and Big Red said " When It's Grim, Be The Grim Reaper". You know they will run POP and SF has nothing for POP. Rich the Chiefs will win
And if your SF defense picks off Mahomes for the second time in the game, and you are up 10 points with about seven minutes to go, DO NOT RUN AS A UNIT TO THE END ZONE AND POSE FOR A VICTORY PHOTO. You. Will. Regret it.
Mahomes' 2nd year playoff run, winning both games coming back from two huge deficits, sounds a lot like Purdy's current 2nd year run. Yet Mahomes is praised as the second coming, but Purdy is a game manager?? C'mon... in the same way that "experts" will predict that Mahomes is on pace to possibly equal Brady's career, one could argue that, stat wise, Purdy is "on pace" to possibly have similar success as Mahomes in the first 6 years of his career. But, until he does, I guess he's just a system qb... right Cam?
If the 49ers want to win, they need to run, run run. Control the clock and keep Patrick off the field. And when the Chiefs get the ball, blitz the hell out of them. You got Nick Bosa and Chase Young there, so use them. Don't give Mahomes 3 seconds to find Kelce. Smash.
Last time they played the Niners they had Jimmy G and Purdy is a much better QB. Purdy is also a mere pup in his second year woth a playoff record of 4-1. In Pudy we trust, go Niners!
The offense is only putting up like 22 points per game. Everyone poopooed on Brady for having good defenses lol KC's D is bailing them out crazy this season. SF will have to score 27 to win and idk if they'll be able to.
49ers have been very blitzable in their two playoff games. Packers & Lions don't have defenses anywhere close to KC. If the Niners don't diagnose & pick up blitzes, it's going to be a loooong day
1. Purdy deserves the credit. He has held his own fairly well. He has experienced a few losses and learnt from mistakes. 2. Double team/put a LB on Kelce. He is slow, and hates contact. You can't develop a Ravens-caliber defense in 2 weeks. Brock is going to have to beat the Chiefs with his legs like Spags forced Lamar to try to beat KC with his arm.
@@johnkluge3421 Damn. In the Bill game, Chiefs had the ball for like 20 minutes.
Rich's summary of the chiefs road to their first superbowl being down and mounting a comeback in their playoff games leading up to their superbowl win and pat being a young pup will literally be the same narrative of the 49ers and brock purdy if they win this superbowl on sunday!!
No respect for any mahomes glazing. I saw a 4 min video of bad calls that benefited the chiefs on ig this week
Lol…. Leg whip on Chris Jones in end zone that should have cost the Ravens a safety. The BS holding call on Trey Smith that nullified Rice’s touchdown. Illegal hands to the face to #81 Blake Bell, Holding throughout the game. No PI’s called on KC due to uncatchable passes…..so whatcha got?
It's not like he hasn't been stopped plenty of times this year. The 49ers have the best pass defense in the NFL this year, better than this list of teams that stopped him: Green Bay, Detroit, Buffalo (regular season), Las Vegas, New York Jets and the Broncos (1x). He's not invulnerable. Kelce, despite the media bias, has underperformed this year. The WR corps is spotty. And the whole offense has not exactly been lighting it up this year...
100 percent. Mahomes is 1/100th of a percent the QB that Purdy is!
Please don't take this as defensive - but just who is the best defense in the league? Seemingly every team the Chiefs play supposedly has the best D. Last year was the Niners, then in the SB it was the Eagles. This year its even worse...... I know it can change every week, but this is getting ridiculous. Didn't the Ravens have the best D?
@@BrianMccallumstudioartsmooth brain take😂
SF ranked 14th this year in Pass D. - KC was 4th. SF also was top 5 in easiest Strength of Schedule, while KC was top 5 hardest.
@@robs7249facts bro. Everyone just fishing for reasons to discredit Mahomes. The truth is simple, he’s 14-3 in the playoffs, all of his historic numbers increase in playoffs, and the only way to win is hope the Chiefs self destruct or have 4 backups in at Oline.
Worse Offense? Yes, Worse Team? No
Speaking as a 49ers fan, it really comes down to the SF d-line. The DEs have to be disciplined, can't get chip blocked on outside runs, and limit Pacheco long enough for Reid to get impatient, force the passing game, and make anyone who isn't Kelce or Rice beat you
My biggest hope for this Sunday (close second is #13 playing lights out) is SF's D-Line having a great game

I hate when they try to compare Mahommes stats to Montanas. They played in completely different eras. You can’t compare Montanas to Otto Grahams just the same, or even Brady’s first half of his career vs the latter. The game changed so much in that time.
Purdy isn’t playing in Montana’s era either.
-They aren't comparing purdy and montana stats wise. It's more about how they have similar calmness, processing and pocket tendencies. Fans are not saying he's good as montana, but older niner fans are saying he reminds them of montana when they watch him play. No stats are involved, it's the eye test @@rustyreidfishing3334
Omg cut it out with the Brady nonsense. Dude barely saw the end of the physical era, hell half of today's BS rules started with him in those first 3 super bowls. Manning, Warner, Favre, Young, Moon and others were all slinging it in the late 90s. Tom Brady was just mid as hell his first 6-7 years until he got Moss
You don't know football. You can compare any QB. Dan Fouts threw for over 4000 yards in 1979 1980 and 1981. Dan Marino threw for over 4000 yards in 1984 1985 1986 1988 1992 he had 5084 in 1984 Warren Moon with Houston had over 4000 yards passing in 1990 1991 1992 1994 and 1995 in 1983 Montana threw for 3910 yards I just 90 short of 4000. For some reason people like you think that teams have just starting to throw the football. Jerry Rice has 1549 receptions the most all time and he played from 1985 to 2004. Teams have always been passing. Mahomet is that talented.......

@@TDR-0484 Brady took a horrible team to the Super Bowl his first year and beat the greatest show in turf and you call him mid? Could you possible be more wrong? He didn’t have great receivers and they weren’t a passing team so his numbers weren’t big, but that’s it.
This wasn’t a segment on 49ers. Just another D riding contest for Mahomes, a dude that has had a mediocre season and playoffs who is unambiguously being carried by a good defense and refs
Show us on this doll where Mr Mahomes touched you.
that's what I've been saying for years.... Mahomes and his Haymaker throws always carried by the zebras on the field..... what do you know the same officiating zebras going to be in this year's Super Bowl as was in the 2019 Super Bowl 49ers Chiefs
How much money you lost betting against the Chiefs? 😂
Remember how invincible you were saying Lamar was before the AFC Championship game? THINK ABOUT IT.
They can be had. Rush Mahomes effectively, give the ball to your many playmakers, and get a little lucky. That's the plan.
Mahomes and Purdy first playoff runs seems pretty similar both guys are coming off a championship lost their first playoff runs, then in the second playoff run both had to win back to back comebacks to get to the superbowl, and if Brock pulls this off their career starts are very close to each other just saying

That's not saying Purdy is Mahomes like some rabid Chiefs fans and idiots like Wright will try to twist it. Just an interesting observation of the story lines this SB vs their last.

@@BrianVespie So are all KC Superbowls. They were some of the WORST officiated games ever. And for Mahomes to dare come out trying to refs out for actually making the correct call is weak af.
I’m really starting to question my admiration for Rich.
Why
@@TheAireaidLord I guess because he is throwing the 49ers under the bus.
@@TheAireaidLord his whole petulant attitude just really doesn’t work for me. Idk if he was always like that I just went along because I always saw his reasoning or if this is new. But it’s becoming more and more difficult to sit through his videos.
He is playing safe. If you go with the Chiefs and they lose, you weren’t wrong, no one will put that on your face and it wouldn’t be shocking. If you go with the Niners and they lose, there’s a mountain of 💩 waiting to fall over you
This is why it’s a team sport, and not QBball, the defense can answer the bell, which is the first such time we can say that with authority. Mahomes is going to play smart and empty the bus, you get a car, you get a car, you get a car, everybody is going to touch that ball, and I believe the 49er’s defense will be slowed down, by the many different ball handlers, they just need that O-line to remain stout.

He's basically been stopped all year. It's not like he led the league in anything at all. He rode the defense's back.
Mahomes is the current GOAT... he will be in many more Super Bowls.... and if anyone has a shot of catching Brady it is Mahomes... I just home Brock Purdy can be Mahomes's Eli Manning.... 49ers need to win this!
I think mahomes is an all time talent and all that, but being down 7 and using that as a “crazy stat” isn’t too crazy. Being down a touchdown? Just not crazy
Rich regularly puts himself in a blender with all of his non-sequitur qualifiers. Truly a master class in this segment.
Hard game to pick! Hope the 9ers win!
The Buccaneers did it with hardly any Chiefs O line and Mahomes with a broken toe, but okay
Rich, you are correct about the chiefs team this year, but not the defense which is the best he’s ever had. The offense has gotten better in the playoffs.
Bang Bang Niner Gang 🔥
Every thing you said about mahomes of the past can be said about Purdy this year. THINK ABOUT IT.
Actually it’s not “too bad”. We can just stop watching 🤷♀️
I won't be watching. I've had all the chiefs I can stand. The media is so biased. Don't they realize we can see through it? I feel like the guys on the major networks calling their games are even cheering for them. It's so annoying that I won't watch chief games anymore. It is not enjoyable.
KC better hold on to Chris Jones after this season . He’s the heart and soul of this chiefs defense .
Facts
Gonna be hard with Mahomes inflated salary.
Patrick is like Jordan when it comes to competitiveness.
Nah, Brady was. Mahomes is like MJ with the raw talent, but if he had the same competitiveness he would not have gotten blown out by Brady in the Super Bowl
He’s THE MJ of the nfl rn
@@keeganandersson4281Brady himself has attested to Mahomes leadership and competitiveness lol in that Super Bowl his LT RT and LG were all out they started rookies in the Super Bowl at LT and RT 😂😂😂😂
@yusufbey1587 Yep... he was running for his life the whole night. To compare it to Jordan again... it would be like Jordan trying to win the Championship for the Bulls without Pippen, Rodman and whoever else on the floor with him. One man can't carry the entire team.
Now you never watched the 90s Bulls played.
Chiefs O-Line in Super Bowl 55 was Nick Allegretti G, Andrew Wylie T, Stefen Wisniewski G, Austin Reiter C, Mike Remmers T. Only Reiter and Wylie started week 1 and only Reiter was in the same position. 🙄🙄🙄
Damn rich this sounds personal. Mahomas didn't have his two starting tackles.
We will see
49ERS need to copy the Raiders Defensive game plan from 12/25/23, they have a better offense than the Raiders so they should win if the defense shows up
Where does Mahomes hide that Superman cape - it's got to be in there somewhere!? Insane stats - say a prayer, 49ers fans! Brock Purdy - Boy Wonder? Seems overmatched but "that's why they play the game." I just hope it's a close one, and let the best team win.
Chiefs Kingdom!

Mahomes about to face his greatest challenge yet:
A HoFer after only two seasons who's coming off the most dominant regular season QB performance of all time - the next Tom Brady / Peyton Manning / Joe Montana: his name is Brock Purdy
What's Pat ever done to possibly measure up to Brock?
I'd still rather be up 17 than down 17, Rich.
mentioning chiefs facts like we dont already know their offence sucked in the regular season, tell us something new
Purdy also comes back like mahones!!
No difference
Loving the new color scheme on the thumbnail
No missed kicks, no turnovers, get the chiefs to turn the ball over at least once, win time of possession.
well first yes mahomes is a great quarterback but just like Brady that yall say is the goat witch he isn't Montana is the goat Tom had help with the refs help. alot of his wins was because the refs helped brady yes if we would have ran the ball in the 4th we would have won thr superbowl to but if anyone really watched not looked at thr superbowl the refs didn't call no holding calls on the chiefs bosa and buckner was held all game
Tampa did it with a hurt line. There is no excuses but the line isn't that hurt now.
Period
I’ve been saying it for months:
*Rich is out of the 49ers clubhouse* 👋
My advice to the 49ers would be stay true to who you are and run the ball, don't go out like the Ravens.
The Ravens were, as always, overrated. Lamar isn't that great.
Beautiful words Rich, and it would make it even more amazing if the Chiefs get STOMPED. GO 49ERS! This is a team sport, and my team has been better all year.
A 10 point lead over the Chiefs means basically nothing
For sure. That's when the refs come into play...
Mahomes got his two passing TDs to move up in that ranking.
My advice is don’t touch Mahomes because any touch is a flag.
Yeah, the refs totally should have let those egregious hits to the head last week go
waa, waa..
Matt Haslebeck said the only person beating Pat is Pat. Rich grow up, Chris Jones is liking his chops and Big Red said " When It's Grim, Be The Grim Reaper". You know they will run POP and SF has nothing for POP. Rich the Chiefs will win
That's INSANE! 😳😬
But, until he does, I guess he's just a system qb... right Cam?
Save that one.
So are you saying 49ers should just go home and give up? Goodness gracious.
The offense is only putting up like 22 points per game. Everyone poopooed on Brady for having good defenses lol KC's D is bailing them out crazy this season. SF will have to score 27 to win and idk if they'll be able to.
Kansas city swifties GOOOO NINERS!!!!!
The cherry picking on the stats is physically painful
Niners have to bring da heat to Mahomes early and often!
And get diced for trying😂 to
But now he has a new challenge. Overcoming the distraction of his dad doing time soon.
And the Chiefs are underdogs...
Nah, I say shutdown Kelce, limit big plays that make drives continue
We played them last year it wasn't good for them we had juju then rice is 9 times better then juju looking for a blowout chiefs by 14
Worst offense he has ever had, but the BEST defense.
Mahomes, "won" all those games without any teammates. Amazing, really.
Without him, they win none of those games.
Nick Wright said it best. Our down year is better than your good year. And we still made the Super Bowl :)
Other teams dial up a prevent offense when they fall behind. Brady (past) and Mahomes won't have that.
49ers have been very blitzable in their two playoff games. Packers & Lions don't have defenses anywhere close to KC. If the Niners don't diagnose & pick up blitzes, it's going to be a loooong day
Purdy is the highest rated QB against the blitz.
No one will be open this time.@@IkeXC07
1. Purdy deserves the credit. He has held his own fairly well. He has experienced a few losses and learnt from mistakes.
2. Double team/put a LB on Kelce. He is slow, and hates contact. Make him work to get open.
3. SF Defensive line absolutely must blitz Mahomes and make him uncomfortable! QB spy him to stop him running
