I just sent this one to Simon. I put minis at 35, 40, 45, and 50 feet. Then try to make all four in a row. I think it took me like 50 tries. It is great practice though as it really puts pressure on you to make every putt. th-cam.com/video/pqKHQsekMZk/w-d-xo.html
You did great preparation with laying out the distances and having a huge stack of putters (less running back and forth and measuring). I think you'll do even better with your putting if you use a stack of identical discs. Also, way to learn about another Darkhorse secret weapon, the Putter Forehand Upshot. If you can land that reliably in a tournament as close as you did on the field, you'll be saving strokes.
When you’re sweating bullets, exhausted from the hundreds of throws you just executed, and cant make another shot... THAT’S when you know you had a muscle memory building practice through extreme repetition. The next time you try to flick putters in it’s gonna feel super smooth and much easier! I had a little field in Plano with my travel basket where I did that many times, feels good to work hard! Nice job good sir and awesome video!!!
Only an Ultimate player shows up with cones! Nice job, Brodie. Just a tip from an old Ultimate-turned-Disc-Golf player, a little more follow thru on those 80+ ft. backhands and you'll be smashing those chains. The flicks look great.
You gotta bag a Discraft Rattler (lid putter) for those 100-150 ft back hand touch shots. It flies like a mini ultrastar so it would be right up your alley.
I wish I had more then a few discs to be able to do this, I would be so tired after the first 50ft from running back and fourth lol. Love the vid, keep it up!
Think of it this way you made it to 140 much faster than Simon. Even though he made it farther, this should be a huge confidence builder for you. Keep up the great work and the videos too.
Practice drill I've seen with this setup: Use two discs, start at 10 feet, and putt. When you make both, step back 10 feet; when you make just one, the next throws are from the same spot. When you miss both, step forward 10 feet. This will help build muscle memory as well as tell you when you are getting to a range that requires more work in other drills or practice. Do this drill no more than 30 minutes so you're not committing bad habits to muscle memory. iirc I got this drill from Danny Lindahl over at DD.
I’m sure you have heard this many times, but welcome to the sport! Love watching you play and following your videos! Such a welcomed addition to the sport and your added excitement and enthusiasm is pretty amazing! Welcome to my area to play and mess around anytime! Ever passing through South Dakota, western side of the river, hit me up!
Love the challenge and the video, well done! I'd love to see how well Simon would do using this same setup - a real basket, pre-marked distances, and way more discs to limit running. Actually, head to head competitions would be incredible, either on the same basket or identical setups next to each other.
Frozty Some handicap rules in ;) But good practice to approach shots! Sometimes you get them in, and that is huge adwantage, just like running ”all” puts. Not everyone makes it, but you have a chance!
what on earth kind of shot would ever require the "scoober" the kid just simply made up a stupid throw and claimed it is his. useless throw. never used for any throw on the course
How about a similar theme but longer throws --- must throw into circle 1 (or smaller) start 100' and increase ~20 feet each throw. Would be fun to see all you distance guys get on out there but still bring the accuracy. Also talk about a workout running the discs back and forth!
Enjoying the videos. I think your influence in getting more people playing the sport will be great. Hope to see you at PDGA events in Colorado this summer.
Awesome job! And that was a quick response to Simon's challenge. Thank God guys like you. We need this sort of thing to keep our disc golf juices flowing.
Definitely going to have to borrow this for practice . Seems to be helpful with accuracy and confidence for sure. Keep up the good work Bro-D!!! Watching your video's are a huge inspiration man. Show's hard work and dedication pay off. You, as well as others, have re-ignited my love for the sport and am going harder than ever to make up time I've lost over the last 8 or 9 years. I'm even getting my 9 year old into it now it's great. Thanks to you and Kelsey for all your content during this time also it definitely helps keep me sane lol. KEEP SLINGING THOSE DISC'S!!!
I dig the Birdie-Ball ad. wow You seem to have an advantage with forehand shots. When you break it down, there are 3 directions: right, left, straight. Most everyone will take a backhand on left shots and if they play forehand, then it might only be on right turning shots. The only area in question is straight shots. Do you take a backhand or forehand? Being as versatile as you are, you should be able to have the freedom of choosing whichever shot favors the terrain and wind. Rules of thumb: always play against the slope, never with it... if you break this rule, make sure it is because of the wind only.
Anyone who says you don’t deserve to be playing on a pro level has it all wrong ... you are putting in work bro ...... keep it up .. been playing disc golf for 25 years and I still suck IMP lmao but I have fun and that is why I do it it’s clears my head playing a round
This is such a cool challenge idea. I might do something similar in my back yard except stop at 30 ft and go back to ten and see how many times I can finish a set in a certain amount of time. Hmmmmmm
My old coach used to always tell me to take my time in training, by saying, "20 perfect!" Or "Be present!" Meaning I'd rather see 20 perfect than 100 of mindless repetition, or basically be fully present in every attempt. I think of it every time I see someone doing something over and over again. Lol
That was an awesome video Brodie! If you have the same work ethic as you had with Ultimate, you're gonna be awesome at Disc golf. I still remember learning different Ultimate throws from your tutorial videos! Good times haha!
Challenges are awesome. Try to make as many variables as possible the same. Keep it coming! Throw from 100 ft and see how many discs you can land within 10 ft of the basket out of 100 throws. You have to use 4 different types of throws. Potential throws: Forehand hyzer/anhyzer, Backhand hyzer/anhyzer, scoober, hammer.
You should be pretty satisfied that you were only 10' off Simons' 160'. Well done, "green horn". Smart layout, with the pre-marked 10' segments, not clearing every make, like Simon, using the stool to have the disc handier. Good time saving strategies for this challenge. If I were to take on the challenge it will be with 20 different speeds, glides, fades and turns. My sponsor is to cheap to kick down a dozen of the same molds. lol
Thanks for the show Brodie, I am sure that it's a lot tougher than it looks, let's see some others take this challenge. Thanks Simon for offering the challenge.
Love how you used the challenge as a learning tool saying that you needed to go for more up shots and that is awesome. I will now being doing my own version of the challenge for myself lol
Impressive flicks! I think everything you hit from > 90' was a forehand. It looked effortless for you even from 150'. Great job! We ought to start keeping a rankings board for this challenge.
Brodie, you should work on jump putts. Its helpful with the 60 to 100 ft range. Keep up the good work. Its super awesome to watch you progress and your videos are fun to watch.
Shooting from off to the side but behind the basket would be cool for far away shots... Watching the disc get larger as it comes in is always a cool perspective! Nice work!
Seemed like between Simon’s “basket” and Brodie’s wind, both of those were real solid. If Paul, Paige, or Eagle gets a quality basket and a calm day, I bet we see someone get to 180’.
You're the 1st one I've seen do it after Simon's callout! I think that challenge is just a great practice routine to do! But with 2 hours so you can take your time and focus! Oh and btw I think 140 is VERY respectful coming from someone new to disk golf! Simon and the other guys are just straight mon-stars!
Awesome shooting! Love the competition love the content! I have a challenge for you guys: Same challenge, BUT!, Limit 5 discs allowed to use. As I'm sure you know all of us disc golfers out there play on a limited budget, and the most amount of putters the average player has at most is probably 5. Not only would this be a great workout, but it would also allow a lot more disc golfers to join in the fun competition! Looking forward to seeing many more videos from you! Thanks for the content!
Nice effort Brodie! vs Simon you built up handy lead @80ft, were pegged back back @100ft then regained a max lead of 8min @140ft. Here's a break down in time difference for each distance. 🤓🤓🤓 10ft 0:04s 20ft 0:27s 30ft 1:10s 40ft 1:58s 50ft 2:28s 60ft 3:39s 70ft 3:18s 80ft 3:06s 90ft -0.36s 100ft -1:07s 110ft 3:37s 120ft 7:34s 130ft 4:27s 140ft 8:01s 150ft
Same challenge but you only get 10 throws per 10 ft and remove the time limit. If you run out of throws you lose. It would make you take each throw more seriously and may be a better way to practice.
What other challenges do you guys want to see me do? Looks like the courses are all getting shut down.
Do a 3 point contest type but with putting of course. Have money discs on the last throw And see who can beat the score
This is my style now!
Can you give my dad some lessons once all this is gone @brodiesmith21
Greatest game of horse ever 3 pls!!
I just sent this one to Simon. I put minis at 35, 40, 45, and 50 feet. Then try to make all four in a row. I think it took me like 50 tries. It is great practice though as it really puts pressure on you to make every putt.

guys like all of brodies and simon's videos, we gotta promote this great quarantine disc golf content!!!!!!!! LETS GOOOOOOOO
I'm so hoping that all the pros do this challenge, it's so fun to watch!

I use a Saint for my forehand putting--and slay the basket
I hope I have a wife that gets that excited when I try a 90ft scoober
Daniel Solomon meanwhile I would stand at the 20 ft for the hour
This was quick! Simon challenges via vlog... Brodie goes all in, immediately. Props.
It took you more shots to complete the 20ft shot than the 140ft shot!!!!!
True story
When you’re sweating bullets, exhausted from the hundreds of throws you just executed, and cant make another shot... THAT’S when you know you had a muscle memory building practice through extreme repetition. The next time you try to flick putters in it’s gonna feel super smooth and much easier!
I had a little field in Plano with my travel basket where I did that many times, feels good to work hard! Nice job good sir and awesome video!!!
Having fun while getting better. That is what its all about
Out the hand misses the line by 10 ft.... “ugh so windy” spoken like a true disc golfer 🤣
Me: "misses shot"
Me: "There must be something wrong with my putter"
Thanks for inspiring me to play disk golf, I’m hooked now and got my first ever birdie yesterday
I was waiting for you to take on this challenge and I’ve never clicked so fast on your videos
Only an Ultimate player shows up with cones! Nice job, Brodie. Just a tip from an old Ultimate-turned-Disc-Golf player, a little more follow thru on those 80+ ft. backhands and you'll be smashing those chains. The flicks look great.

i like the clouds moseying by.
I wish I had more then a few discs to be able to do this, I would be so tired after the first 50ft from running back and fourth lol. Love the vid, keep it up!
I was tired and I had a lot of discs so I completely understand
Think of it this way you made it to 140 much faster than Simon. Even though he made it farther, this should be a huge confidence builder for you. Keep up the great work and the videos too.
Do a 3 point contest type but with putting of course. Have money discs on the last throw And see who can beat the score
The 140’ celebration dance was so genuinely executed to my reaction of that shot! 🕺🏻 Back to back!!
Great Job Brodie. That 140ft shoot was sweet. First Try!!
I just got back into disc golf and am probably going to buy your pack from discraft. Love the vids, keep up the GREAT work!

I think you have forever changed disc golf with the “scoober”...my brother and I did perfect putt 360 scoober Edition all afternoon today 👍👍
what on earth kind of shot would ever require the "scoober" the kid just simply made up a stupid throw and claimed it is his. useless throw. never used for any throw on the course
13:15 Brodie: "Is my forehand that good, or is my backhand that bad?"
Rarely see a question like that answered so quickly and emphatically.
immediate cash from 140
Dude, Your forehand is money.
I need a Kelsey, someone who just shouts words of encouragement. Great you have someone to hype you up and check you when need be. Love it Brodie!

"Forehand"

That forehand is looking so smoooooth! My son and I are going to have to give this a shot, soon.
This exact challenge but if you miss you need to move forward 10 ft, seems like a good way to get consistent with circles edge/ circle 2 puts.

Nice shot at 140 man!!

please do a putter and midrange forehand tutorial, my game is missing that big time! Welcome to the sport!
