I had the same reaction to this nonsense comment. Of course he's trying to take your money, and I'm okay with that as long as he provides me with service of equivalent value. This comment goes down in the books as typical ridiculous hype.
Dealer is going to help in more ways than one. Not only will they let you know what should be replaced, because it may fail in the next 10 years... But they will make your boat sit higher in the water due to your wallet being lighter.
Getting an appointment to get a dealer to do this, let alone the cost, makes 'yearly' very difficult. Is it necessary to do yearly rather than go by a certain number of hours?
Hello, I have a problem with MerCruiser gear lube Reservoir Dribble Valve leaking oil. When I remove the driveshaft unit, oil stops leaking. The valve appear to functioning normally. S.O.S
I asked my mechanic for a ball park figure for a service and to put the transom right, after water started leaking through it. He refused to give a figure, but repeatedly assured me that it wouldn’t be anything steep. $5589 later 😳 It was probably worth the job done, but I’ll have to keep this guy’s spectrum of ‘ not steep’ in mind on future work.
Hello Boys. Nice channel. The ailment on my 2000 Sea Ray with the 3.0 Litre Mercruiser with power steering is slowly consistently going left and right in forward under low speed plane. 20 degrees left then 20 left over and over. You can point it straight, then there it goes. Is it in the rudder? I just replaced it and it has not been calibrated yet.
I just replaced my coupler, and gimble bearing, the coupler was $100 and a gimble kit with bearing and seals and bellows was $60, in the video he stated the coupler costs $1,000...... based off that I think the dealership just wants to help you out of your money

There is absolutely no reason whatsoever that a boat owner should not be able to preform these services on their own. A little bit of knowledge and elbow grease will save you thousands in Labor charges over the years.
If you want a boat with one of these drives you have 2 choices = 1. You will spend a lot of time & work on it (which I enjoy) OR 2. You will spend a lot of $$ on it. 3. would be some combination of the first 2.
There is absolutely zero reason that the outdrive should be pulled on an annual basis. In fact, mini gimbal bearings now are the ones that do not require external grease on lubrication if not, you simply liberate it externally yourself. Butters don’t have this kind of money to be spending at high cost service locations
THE DEALER IS NOT TRYING TO TAKE YOUR MONEY. HE IS REALLY DOING YOU A FAVOR. What a complete joke this guy is. 100% DIY and marina mechanics are opportunistic scavengers (with very few exemptions)....It is part replacement with some tools that help along the way. No fabrication or skills required.
Nobody wants to go to a dealership because they charge 1000s of $$s when we brokies only buying 3k$ boats with these engines in them be nice if y’all posted better videos
Ya, they could have built more credibility by acknowledging the diy guy can get the job done. We may screw up the first time, and it may cost money and time to correct the mistake, but there are good reasons to diy. Sometimes it's the only way to save a boating season.
He is funny "dealer is not trying to take your money" 🤣🤣

Very light wallet 😅
A lot of people like to service their own drives, would be nice to get a more detailed service tutorial from a expert like this.
They don't wanna do that, they are trying to scare you into service.

Hilarious that they say this isn’t a diy service item. Maybe not for everyone, but this is very easy for a lot of DIYers
First time sucks. After that, you learn to buy oem parts, have the tools and experience. Goes much smoother second time. Third time is a cake walk.
The fifth time you weld together your own service cradle

Ok every year I should have my drive taken off - it’s been 12 year’s for me and I have no issues

Why to much for the Diy? Some people not only can't afford a dealers costs but have u tryed getting your boat serviced during season? Lol. Good luck

Just go with the tried and true Alpha drive. Run it till it breaks and replace it for a fraction of the cost of a Bravo.

Just to put a new water pump in the parts 90 bucks the labor is 500 and it's a simple job

It is not too much for a DIY. This is just a commercial.
