I'm Chinese and in our culture, Silkie chickens are a delicacy because it is leaner and has higher protein content. Instead of grilling we usually make chicken soup or congee.
Hi Guga! As a Chinese growing up eating this from time to time, here are some dishes the black chicken are good in (my top 2): 3 cups chicken and sibut soup. 3 cups chicken is quite popular and actually easy to make. It only consist of: soy sauce, dark soy sauce (optional), rice wine, sesame oil, a lot of garlic, ginger and basil (and the chicken of course haha). Why it's called 3 cups is because the 3 main ingredients are soy sauce, rice wine and sesame oil - tho they are not really 1 cup each of course, because 1 cup of sesame oil is like too much. even 1 cup of soy sauce is too much for a single chicken haha. It's probably because 3 cups sounds catchy and it easily highlights the 3 main ingredients. You can check out some recipes in youtube. Note that most of the recipes here in YT use ordinary white chicken, so if you use black chicken instead, just cook it a bit longer since the black one's meat is tougher (but tastier). This really goes well with rice. And of course, if you do find this delicious and crave, you won't always have black chicken. So of course, ordinary chicken is still great! Sibut soup is kinda "medicinal: because it involves a lot of herbs, roots and some dried fruit. So this might be an acquired taste. It's a bit bitter but at the same time savory. But some people might not like the "medicine-like" taste because of the roots used. But I love this a lot! I hope you try these, Guga. :)

His trouble with clearly separated concepts is also revealed in his use of language at 0:45 "…now for comparison, I went ahead and did the same exact thing to regular chicken. And take a look at the difference in contrast." Too many words make his point less clear. When he gets the food in presentation for the taste test, I look at the previews shown in the progress slider and click forward to get to a point after the food touching his lips, so I don't have to listen to a bunch of meaningless, or as in this case confusing, yak-yak. It's really unfair when you cook an unnative ingredient that is made to taste best for another way than to cook it your own way and judge it the way you as your usual ones.. it is revered in some countries for a reason so make sure you give it justice before you give it harsh criticism.. if some meals done wrong won't please anyone.. making them the way they're supposed to be and judging them that way would be more acceptable..
In Thailand, we don't grill those chickens as they are used for stewing! Stewing hens do have a much better flavor and when you use them in curry stews, it's just delicious but definitely not for grilling.
We here in India call it Kadaknath & it has a GI tag 👍🏻 Also, never tried purple potatoes coz they're not available as far as I know. Would love to though 😄

Thumbs up!
These weekend videos are starting to become a Saturday morning tradition

cornish x rock chickens are bred to grow super fast and fat and are on the table between 6 and 8 WEEKs of age, yes its breeding not steroids or anything else in their feed. Silkies take MONTHS to get to full size thus develop more flavor than their cousins. These days silkies are more pet chickens than anything. When alive their feathers have weak or missing "pins" so they look like they have long poofy hair instead of feathers. Very soft and yes, silky lol.
These chickens are actually pretty common here where I live, I make soup with it almost every month or even more! I didn’t know that it was that rare in other countries but I have had it my whole life and it is so good in soup.

His trouble with clearly separated concepts is also revealed in his use of language at 0:45 "…now for comparison, I went ahead and did the same exact thing to regular chicken. And take a look at the difference in contrast."
Too many words make his point less clear. When he gets the food in presentation for the taste test, I look at the previews shown in the progress slider and click forward to get to a point after the food touching his lips, so I don't have to listen to a bunch of meaningless, or as in this case confusing, yak-yak.
