I know right? Right across the street…I wouldn’t have gone over except for my church buddy wanted to check it out. As soon as I walked over she said “I have harmonicas” so I said show me everything you have. I got this chromatic, a vintage pre-progressive Special 20 in G and a Blues Harp in C, all the harps barely or never played…plus a cool neck rack. I asked how much and she said pwyc…I offered her $60 and she was totally gassed…I made a video on it all yesterday and JEEM (Jim Hawkins) sent me $60 in my PayPal to cover the cost. I’m still shaking my head over it all lol. I’m very grateful. God is very good to me🙏✝️❤️.
When i decided to start playing harp again i bought a swan 1040. Didn't play too bad. I still have it. I always try to buy the cheapest but good harps on Amazon. Great video. See ya next video. Cheers!
Hey thanks man! Yeah I’m much more open than I used to be about using cheap harps…they are made better now maybe? It’s great cos Hohner and Seydel are $$$ and the harmonica is the instrument of the people! It needs to be street level. God bless you buddy! Thanks for your kind words man 🙏✝️♥️😎👍
Nice! I picked up this one for almost nothing at a garage sale a year or so ago 😎👍 I really don’t play much chromatic, but I’m glad to have this for sure! Thanks for watching!
I play an old Hohner Chromonica, 10 hole type. Can hardly bend the notes at all, but i make good use of the slide button. Very different from my diatonic harps, but just as fun. I also own two bass harmonicas, a "pocket" bass and a full contrabass, both Tombo. I'm thinking of giving away the contrabass cuz I never play it, and it's taking up space on my storage locker.
Oh wow man! Yeah I’ve seen that harp in your icon photo…I love those. I’ve always wanted to check out the pocket bass…I used play bass harmonica in an old time string band. I have a full Hohner contrabass but I rented it out for a theatre production and it came back to me kinda trashed. If you don’t get any takers on the one you might give away, let me know cos I’ll take it 😀…we could work something out and I’d pay shipping of course. Let me know! No hurry tho cos I’m in the midst of moving and gotta figure out my new address 😂.
@@dirtypatwalsh I forgot I about my icon pic. 😅 The contrabass is yours if you want it, I don't know about TH-cams policy regarding posting addresses and the such.
Well I’ve posted it here before so my email is dirtypatwalsh@gmail.com . I have still yet to get my new address (I have the place I just can’t remember the house number) but drop me a line if’n you like 😎👍
@jonbeckleymorrisnerenberg Yeah buddy it is pouring here today! Waiting on the thunder boomers! ⛈️⛈️⛈️⛈️☔️ i had to crank up the video volume way higher than usual just so y’all can hear me.
Hey, Pat! I bought a Hohner Chromatic Super 64 about a year ago, which I rarely play because it is so bulky. I found the slide to be real sticky, so I just set it aside and rarely pick it up. And whatever you do on a Chromatic, I learned to NOT take it apart and fool around with the baffles, or whatever those strips of paper are called. Yikes! One day I will get another one that is easier to play. Any suggestions, anyone, on a chromatic??? Cheers from the States, Mate!
I suggest maybe a Chrometta 8? They are awesome and only 2 octaves or maybe Easttop has one for you…I have a easttop Forerunner and it has no plastic wind saver valves (those fool paper strips). Those are my favorites but they don’t have the low octave. I have no complaints on this Swan other than a squeaky 8 draw and it’s kinda quiet as it also has no wind savers. But there is no such thing as a short cut to chromatic playing lol…I don’t really use the slide as I mainly play 3rd position in Dm. But yeah…the Hohner 64 is kinda like the gold standard Chromonica and if you know a repair guy I’d stick with that! All the best with it JEEM! If it’s simply the low C octave you want I’d suggest a 364 Marine Band 12 hole diatonic…it has a low bottom end. Cheers Jim! Get at it!😀
@@dirtypatwalshI got the forerunner 2.0 and it's a workhorse. No windsavers to worry about either, which has been great because I have a seydel and the windsavers always give me fits. That said, the sound of the forerunner isn't as smooth as most chromatics. The sound is okay though, not bad, hut just okay. I wish they made a tenor one though
@bilbowaggins3036 Ive been wondering about the 2.0! I have the original forerunner and I love it. I bought it because it had no wind savers as I wanted to be able to bend (I pretty much only play 3rd position Dm blues style) and it’s just what I wanted. So yeah…when I seent it got an upgrade I was looking forward to hearing about it.
@@dirtypatwalsh it's good. Probably the best valveless chromatic I know of, but there's not much competition on that front. I do wonder if one of the bigger harmonica companies could do the valveless chromatics better if they actually wanted to, because I do wonder how much the sound could improve with higher quality reeds. At the end of the day though, the forerunner 2.0 is only like 45 dollars -- it is an absolute steal for the price
I’m using them! It is working! I’m grateful for folks who subscribe and watch my stuff and I’ve never been too arsed about the numbers. I wanna sing my blues and preach the Gospel…maybe I’m missing the proper tags.
Anthony I'm sure Pat could some help 😎 But, if you woldnt mind passing me on some of your knowledge Like I don't even know how to comment on your stuff! I'm sure Pat & I believe would appreciate it!
I can comment as you know @anthonymessineo8804 but yeah…I use hashtags but I dunno how much they do for me. Jon…the way you make a hashtag is by putting an # before a word or two ie: #harmonica or #prewarblues or whatever…that will link your video to other videos of that nature. 😎👍
@@dirtypatwalsh Hi thanks I'll try one before I forget. Pat the video I put up forget about copping exactly what I'm doing, rather use what I'm saying to make scale practice more fun.
Cool cool Jonny Mo! Yeah I seent you put up a long video about scales with your ukulele and harmonica. I’m just getting sporadic moments of wifi until my move is done…this is my 17th time moving in 32 years and I’m sick to my guts of it lol…hopefully I can keep my home for a while…🤣🤣🤣🤣
That’s wild man 😎👍👍🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼
