    I have the same K-Line GG-12 with four Madison Pennsy cars. Recently acquired a Lionel 681 turbine as an alternate puller for the passenger cars. Great fun, thanks.

    I have a set of these cars and a 2 motor GG1. It is the early 1980s Golden Memories build and paint it yourself kits, got it super cheap about $80 for the engine and cars, Seeing this I now wish mine had the same nice factory finish your set has with better trucks and couplers......at least I will have the pride of saying "I built it"

    An enjoyable video of some 'sets' of passenger consists, Dave! The Williams GG1 is a quiet runner and be a great model for anyone interested in starting a collection. I have a semiscale K-line GG1 I bought years ago. It's never been run, so I don't know the noise factor, but it's new in the box. Keep making videos, Dave. Always great content!

    • @dagryffynhobby
      @dagryffynhobby  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Tom. New in the box, nice. I think the k line gg1 I bought was, if not new, almost new. It makes a little metallic tinkling noise. Can’t figure out why. Not a big deal but quiet would be nice.

    Amazing set you put together! Also interesting how the JLC Hudson is a match for your other PRR cars. I would be all in interested in the GG1 set but, I’ve got 2 crews doing home renovations now. They want to get paid so, my hobby budget will be a bit lean for a while haha! Nice episode Dave!

    Just love those Gee's. lived in NE Philly and remember watching them run on Pennsy 4 track main line. It was interesting to watch the gg-1 pass traffic on I-95 ( speed limit at time was 60 mph ).

    That's a nice gloss finish on that GG1, reminds me of the 4877 GG1. I would have thought it was a complete set. Williams has it down pat with quality but not to fond of the sound cards, that won't stop me from buying them especially with their prices.

    I've always wanted a gg1 but I'm a traditionalist and I want to kind of stick with Lionel.. the other side of that coin is I can't find one affordable or in my price range

    • @dagryffynhobby
      @dagryffynhobby  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Understandable and that’s why I ended up with a K Line version. Looks the same but in good condition at a fraction of the price. I would of course much rather the postwar Lionel version but in circumstances like this I am ok with a copy.

    • @wayneantoniazzi2706
      @wayneantoniazzi2706 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pristine post-war Lionel twin-motor GG1's are still bringing respectable money and will do so for the forseeable future. If you don't mind compromising on exterior quality you can probably find one at a decent price.
      I can more than understand brand loyalty but there's nothing wrong with MTH, K-Line, or Williams GG1's.

  • @jamesf791
    @jamesf791 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That GG1 is extremely shiny. I personally like the more matte finish then the glossy finish. But the set looks great👌

    • @dagryffynhobby
      @dagryffynhobby  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s one of the reasons I kept my K Line GG1 over this Williams one, even though the Williams runs a bit better.

  • @ronalddevine9587
    @ronalddevine9587 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That GG-1 is super quiet, and has great low speeds. I wonder if it's flywheel equipped? Really sharp looking and smooth running set.

    • @dagryffynhobby
      @dagryffynhobby  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure about the flywheel but I believe so. It would run even better on a modern transformer!

      @@dagryffynhobby Is that on your bucket list for the next York meet?

    • @wayneantoniazzi2706
      @wayneantoniazzi2706 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Considering how smoothly and quietly it runs I'd guess it has flywheel motors but the only way to find out for certain would be to remove the shell. Considering the pristine condition of the engine I wouldn't do that, unless it was mine. Why take a chance messing it up?

  • @wayneantoniazzi2706
    @wayneantoniazzi2706 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I checked my Williams 2012 catalog, the last one they did before "The Fall," and there's no GG1-Broadway Limited set, but in their "Golden Memories" line they did kinda-sorta have a "set" they called "The Great Cogressional." It comprised a Tuscan Red with "cats whisker" stripes GG1 and four aluminum Pennsy streamliner cars, with a two car add-on set also available.
    All three articles weren't sold as a set though, which is why I put "set" in quotes. The GG1, the streamliner cars and add-on's were sold as separate items.
    I'll also add I don't think I've ever seen the complete package for sale anywhere.

    • @dagryffynhobby
      @dagryffynhobby  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting, thanks Wayne. In my opinion this “set” is a no brainer! They should have sold them like this.
