Manipur : A man named David & a village named Langza, both stand testimony to barbaric inhumanity.

- On July 6, David Thiek was found dead at a village named Langza, some 40 kms away from Churachandpur town. His severed head was kept on the pole of bamboo cane boundary of a house. The village was ransacked, vandalised and set ablaze by the miscreants. Later people recovered few pieces of his bones as charred remnants, at a corner, near the entry point of the village. David was one of the volunteers manning the village, a scene common to several sensitive areas in the state, reflective of the divide and distrust among people belonging to different communities. Video of beheaded David had gone viral, even though internet continues to remain suspended across Manipur in close to 3 months now. David was 34 years old, eldest son in the family and sole earning member. His father, 64 year old Khuma Thiek has lost his mental peace and stability post the horrific incident. He has been given shelter at a relief centre under the care of his extended family. He hasn’t seen the viral video, people had ensured that it never reaches him. The crest fallen father is now pleading for justice. Police complaint has been lodged. He appeals to the country to bring an end to the ongoing conflict in Manipur. Team NTT visited Langza and found the tell tell signs of destruction that violence has left behind, also the unforgettable memory of David that hatred has left behind, still haunts the empty Langza.

Obviously it won't only be because of the community. That's just one factor. There are always multiple angles, perspectives and factors. But one thing to note is, he was born a Christian and he died a Christian. He didn't leave his faith, so technically he died for Jesus. Think about it

Oh David father's health was not like this when I saw him a couple of weeks back from news, he is getting weaker and weaker day by day i pray that God give him strength in this hard time. I don't know which is more barbaric... The beheading or the fact that the culprits are still moving around free as if nothing has happened even after videos of them displaying the head around is there and that still no arrest as such has been made. How much more disparity in law and order against the Kuki will it take for justice to prevail... Yes, casualties are there from both the sides but at least there was no physical or sexual brutality caused to the Meiteis by the kukis. The Meiteis has stooped below the level of basic humanity by their act of physical and sexual violence during this conflict even to the point that the much acclaimed Meira Paibes has lost its credibility.
It is so painful to see such forms of violence.
