That poor betta. That kid clearly didn't know what he was doing, but was trying his best. Man lowkey did more than most people with bettas seem to do, even if he couldn't get the Gilly a proper sized home. At least she died in a clean tank, but it does seem that the shock of an uncycled clean tank was too much for her. Man tried his best, and I can respect that. Even looked online for tips (hence him keeping some of the old water)
F in the chat at Gilly she was gorgeous. Aaaaaand this is the reason I will never get a fish. One tiny mistake and oops now they’re dead and you’re basically a fish murderer and you’re going to jail for life 🤷🏻♀️
The beta fish guy was so sweet, his heart was really in the right place. I hope he continues to learn so he can save fishy friends from negligent or uneducated owners!
I honestly HATE seeing apps or online vets giving advice about veterinarian treatment for pets. It's dangerous. Diagnosing and medicating the wrong problem can cause serious damage. A picture of webcam of an animal is not enough to diagnose. Most need to be looked at more in depth or felt by a trained professional to be able for them to be diagnosed correctly. Also in the clip, the dog was "diagnosed" with a Patella Luxation, assuming the image used was the one of it lifting up it's front paw. Patella Luxation is the joint in the femur, the back leg! So the diagnoses is clearly wrong and she is medicating with Metacam, which may not even be needed. Also it is a medication that should only be given out by vets, and can cause side effects if the wrong dose is given.
I do think online vets can be helpful, especially when you're super anxious about your pets (like me) and prefer to have someone you can ask on smaller things/things you're unsure about. This said, I absolutely agree that diagnosing and medication purely based on online vet appointments can be dangerous. My online vet always sends me to the local vet for these things. They offer tips on various things (like syringe feeing and making food for that, easing the symptoms of an uri (in mice) until the vet appointment, what to try to give them their medicine if treats don't work etc) and help figuring out where a vet visit is needed (again, I'm super anxious about this, so every sneeze - I have rats and mice, both have sensitive respiratory systems - and every change in behaviour or weird looking movement makes me wanna run to the vet to make sure they're fine) and where I can try things from home first, to see if they might already help enough, or where I don't even need that and I'm just seeing things that aren't there. And I think that's how it should be handled. If online vets work like that and make sure to tell you when to see a local vet, I don't see an issue. If they just diagnose things and even "prescribe" medication based on a video or picture, that's absolutely not okay and actually irresponsible
Well online or phone vet can be helpful if you have anxiety over every unusual parrot poop like I have ;) Plus closest avian vet I have is 30 km from where I live, so with small things i call him, but with something serious, online visit will be not enough. but sometimes calling vet could be enough with small problems.
i am a vet and we are LEGALLY not allowed to give medical advice without seeing the animal first hand. the extent of what i can say to my friends who ask is a guess and whether it requires an emergency vet visit or not. there is no way i would recommend medication, especially a strong NSAID like meloxicam, without seeing the animal first and evaluating it at least for the bare minimum...
The peppermint shrimp TikTok made me so mad. Like, you’d think people would have the simple thought process of: Oh, this animal is saltwater, so it probably comes from the ocean, which covers most of the planet. Well, maybe it needs a big tank, since it’s used to an amount of water that covers most of the *planet* And then, they don’t have the thought process, and people really do be like: Oh, it’s fine, it has a ✨ *molecule* ✨ of water. It’s fine, don’t worry about it. My shrimp has enough space with *one molecule of water*
im so sorry for the shrimp. what happends to it after the video? or after the holidays? they r not trow away pets : ( concerned thats what its gonna be.
I went and checked there were two videos about her peppermint shrimp and then they just stopped, both were in that small tank. Pretty sure that shrimp didn’t make it 😔
@@dallacostal97 Yes. You literally do. Why else do you think Earth is the only planet in our solar system to support life? It's because the other planets, sun and our moon keep us safe and orbiting the way we do.
Just a little correction - shrimp actually do require drip acclimation. They're very sensitive to changes in water parameters so regular acclimation can often kill them.
Not just shrimp, crabs and all other saltwater inverts need drip acclimation.they’re not hard to care for but they are hypersensitive to changes in the water perimeter.
Honestly, as a former beardie owner, I HATE how irresponsible the owner was by just sitting there and recording their cat going into the bearded dragons enclosure. And why wasn’t there a lid? You’re basically asking your cat to go in it the enclosure isn’t closed off properly
Yeah, seriously. My brother had a few reptiles and some cats, in tanks that HAD lids. Cats broke the lids, we thought the iguana got out (it didn't), the ball python was balled around a heat lamp cord with scratches on the skin (was about to go into shed, the python was perfectly fine), and the leopard gecko ended up dead. That ain't cute. The beardie is HISSING, it's showing very clearly how distressed it is. People are dumb
That poor beardie was so scared and stressed, he was fanning out, puffing up and hissing; all sighs of high stress. That cat could take an eye out (or worse!) if it got mad!
And then people keep saying "ThE fIsH lOoKS fInE" "YoU'rE eXxAgGeRaTiNg" You can't just tell the animal is fine by looking at it. Unless it's a cat or dog but for a fish or any animal you can't really tell
Just want to mention this - if a hamster goes into torpor, you *need* to warm them up, else they will die from being in torpor for too long. This can be done by putting the hamster in your pocket or shirt (since your body heat is a great way to warm them up), or by using a covered heat pad that's not much warmer than 25 to 30ºC. You can also prevent torpor by keeping them in a room above 15ºC (though their preferred temperature is around 18ºC to 22ºC), by providing them nesting materials (*NOT* cotton or fluffy bedding, something like shredded toilet paper will do just fine), by providing large amounts of bedding (minimum is 6 inches throughout the entire enclosure, though most hamsters will not burrow until given 10 inches or more), or by placing something like a Snugglesafe heat pad on the outside of their enclosure. There's a few ways to tell if your hamster is dead or in torpor. If their feet and nose still have colour in them, if they're floppy and if they're taking shallow breaths, then they're in torpor. If their feet and nose are pale, if they're stiff and if they're not breathing, then they've unfortunately passed away.
well said! i noticed how soda didnt address this so i was gonna make a comment too… (theyve not done anything wrong, their channel is lovely i just think it’s important because fish torpor is very different) this also applies to other small mammals like mice- i once had my pet mouse go into torpor because of a sudden temperature drop (i live where theres extremely varied weather 😖) and putting her against my chest near my face worked well. you just have to be careful not to crush them or impair their ability to breathe. they can die very suddenly so it’s important you keep an eye on your pets who may be susceptible to death by torpor. especially if you experience colder weather.
@@InactiveUser48284 Agreed - I'll admit I was a tad shocked when they didn't mention anything about it, but at the same time, I understand if people don't know much about it since it's not really common knowledge. I just bought my hamster a Snugglesafe heat pack today - we can't afford to keep the heating on, so that's the next best thing lol. Like his own little radiator.
As someone super experienced with marine fishkeeping the first one upset me. "I had to get the water all salty"?! God... I wonder if she even used proper marine salt and measured the salinity correctly. I DOUBT IT since she put it in that tiny container without cycling...
I'm not even that experienced but it doesn't take a genius to know that saltwater marine life needs to live IN SALTWATER. And surely someone with a brain would realize that the ocean isn't full of tablesalt? I can't imagine your frustration lmao
When there are people that are confused about why tanks should be so big for fish i remind them that other fish live in oceans and massive bodies of water so it makes sense that fish need large areas to live in
When my guardian was hospitalized, her fishtank reached a similar tank that Gillys got to with a black goldfish living inside. I did the same and tried to clean it, with the same results. Good intentions! But a learning experience. There are a few reasons Gilly died: - a lot of the gross gunk is settled on the walls and floor so stirring it up puts it free-floating into the water and their gils - shock from such a different bacterial environment/ temperature changes - already compromised health from living in such an environment for so long If you take on the task of cleaning a tank like this, you should be gradual. Partial water changes over a few weeks, trying not to unsettle the gunk as much as possible, and once the water is mostly clear, then the fish will be more acclimated for a transfer to a temporary container (using water from the tank) while you scrub. Make sure to save at least 50% of that water for the good bacteria. Not foolproof cuz again, the fishes health will be compromised from living in these conditions (I did this for a betta and having melaleuca oil on hand to address his health after was a lifesaver) but overall this method gives them a better chance of recovery.
This happened to some of my fish and it was so sad :( I left for a holiday and had my (very responsible) cousin take care of my fish. She put WAY too much food in the tank and the filter unfortunately stopped working while I was gone, so the water quickly turned swampy. The fish I had got so used to the nasty water, that a clean tank shocked them too much, even though I took the water change slowly. It sucks.
@@Jasphey Are you implying that the shrimp being given a way-too-small tank is not that big a deal and shouldn't be talked about? Even though Soda literally talked about how bad is was in the video?
I am honestly really disappointed in TikTok. While I am there I have seen many abusive clips, hamsters falling on the floor and just laying there with a petrified look, you can report them for abuse, but somehow it is not abuse...the hamsters literally scream in pain... Reported many obviously in pain animals, and tik tok does nothing. It's not like I report sma discomfort of animals since I know they won't do anything, but even blatant abusive actions are not removed.
Yeah ! It's really awful and sad. The few communities that are there are some filled with people that are mean when they correct proper care like "imagine you live in a box the size of your mattress and die and god laughs at you 😀" it's so mean and disrespectful :'( I hope more people like Soda will use TikTok to educate nicely !

As a child, I went to petco to go and buy a betta fish. There was a really nice lady there who once had a betta herself. She told me all the right thins for betta fish and now I’m rlly grateful for that
Awh, rip Gilly. Hope she's swimming in better waters in fish heaven. I hope the guy who tried to help does more research and eventually gets to care for his own fishy friends!
RIP GILLY! My man actually tired with the knowledge that he had, I actually respect his efforts! I feel so bad that poor Gilly lived a dirty, bad life for so long, but in her last moments, things got a little brighter
Off topic- but I love yuki doing little head bobs, talking and chewing up his toy in the background, he’s just there stealing the show as always ✨ plus it’s a breath of fresh air after seeing all these people who mistreat their pets to watch your pets happy in the background, even the fish are looking happy
To me it looked like the betta was already 'pineconing' when he took her out of the gross tank which means there was internal organ failure :( It's pretty much irreversible and means it's time to say good bye.
How hard is it to just google something before buying an animal or putting them in a certain situation... None of these animals would be suffering if we actually used all the technology we made
My family has had a salt water tank in every house we've lived in (we've moved a lot) for the past 13 years. To see that peppermint shrimp just breaks my heart. We had big tanks (100+ gal), but we started pretty small, and it took a long time (and lots of water testing for so many things) for us to really perfect our techniques. In the end, I can't tell you how complicated it got with skimmers, refugiua, etc. I know not everyone is going to go that deep, and that's more than okay, but I just wish people knew what they were actually taking on before getting any pet. Taking care of an animal should be something you approach with knowledge and respect, and I hate that it's so frequently seen as something you can just get into with no prior knowledge or research as a fun weekend activity
I just want to say that I seriously appreciate you doing these videos and bringing awareness to the lack of proper care given to small animals, especially non-mammals. It's good to know there's people talking about it and showing that these animals deserve care and attention, and they're not just home décor or a quirky accessory.
I work in a pet store and I turn away a lot of people who don’t have proper enclosures for the animal they are wanting to get. I tell people to research before they buy and if they have improper set ups I recommend them bigger and better enclosures. I hate the 1 gallon bowls and tanks we sell, but most employees here actually get people to not buy them. I have a very soft spot for fish as I’ve always had fish in my life and it hurts me to see these fish be treat so poorly.
I stumbled over your account a few days ago and I just wanna say that I love what you're doing. It's really important that someone speaks up about this. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Greetings from Germany
being a bearded dragon owner myself, that beardie video was stressful, cat scratches/bites are extremely harmful to reptiles. cats do not have clean claws or mouths so when a cat injures a reptile the wound can get infected and its very bad for them :( even the beardie enclosure is horrific.. 40 gallon tanks (which what i think that tank was) are WAY too small for beardies, being a rather big lizard and being as active as they are they need at least a 4 foot by 2 foot by 2 foot enclosure. I also can't tell if the substrate is "reptile carpet" or "calcium sand" which both are very bad for beardies, reptile carpet harvests bacteria (also is VERY hard to properly clean) and can even hurt the beardie's feet. calcium sand is bad because its made of calcium (beardies will seek out calcium) and can easily get impacted and sand isn't digestable to them :(
I love Soda Pet's videos. They always are so entertaining. We need more people to listen to Soda Pets and take care of their pets better. Pet tiktoks are awful...
Since nobody else is mentioning it, the hamster owner was pinching (literally yanking the loose skin+fur back and using THAT to pull) and dragging that hamster back from the cat forcefully. It looks like it'd hurt or at the very least feel really threatening, brings to mind horror movies where someone's being dragged along a floor by a monster and leaving nail marks because they're trying to claw to not be taken away. Can you imagine the lack of control, prey mindset you'd be in if a giant was pulling you by the back scruff, so close to your spine? It's running and hiding with the cat because it doesn't want to keep being grabbed like that. Despicable.
Hey Soda- You should check out the animal 'rescue' videos on TH-cam. I say this not because they're good videos of people helping animals, I say this because I don't really see videos discussing the videos themselves. (I hate when people put animals in harm for some views.)
@@sinifexxephinis4310 The rescue videos where people put animals in harms way and pretend to find them. Once there was a video where these boys cut a puppy with probably a knife and said that they found a big dog that was trying to bite it though it was clearly not a dog bite wound- Those kinda videos-
I hope more people talk about this issue. Out of all the animal rescue videos on TH-cam, I only support Hope For Paws and Ocean Conservation Namibia. Both are affiliated with pet rescue centers and conservation programs respectively. Many others however... you can tell from the title alone that they're doing it for views.
As a cat owner and former rat owner the cat ones stress me the FUCK out. I love cats more than life itself, but I am well aware of how dangerous they are to small animals like reptiles and rodents. They should NEVER, EVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE be allowed anywhere near each other without a lidded cage or tank between them, not to mention CONSTANT supervision. How can anyone be stupid enough to actually genuinely think animals of such drastically different species can be friends? It sickens me.
wild that people don't realize that *predator animals* act like *predators* and will probably try to eat *prey animals* if given the chance. it should be common sense but people seem to lack that
Thank you for showing these videos. I know they're tough to watch but it's important people understand how to treat their animals properly and to minimize stress.
That betta one hit where it hurts. I got a fish a couple years ago and put it in that exact same tank. It was a miracle that it survived as long as it did. I gave it away to a friend who kept it in a much much much better tank. He got so colorful and made bubble nest things before he died a year after I gave him to her :) although I’m disappointed in my inability to care for him, I’m so happy he got a good second half of his life
So I’m getting a job at a decent pet store near me, specially to educate others on the proper care of animals, I have a pretty broad knowledge of most “pet” animals, fish being the pet I know least about (learning about tho) and rats being the most I know about
I live in a small apartment with a roommate and recently thought of getting a hamster again, but decided against it even though I had done all the research and everything ready to be ordered for the enclosure. I decided against it because I don't want to risk my 10 yr old orange tabby getting to it. Especially since the hamster would be in my room which is my cat's space with how much perches and shelves I've put in there. It also wouldn't be fair to her because it wouldn't be her space anymore and it's been hers for 8 years. So you could only imagine how frustrating it is to see people mistreating their hammies by putting them in these bad situations with their cats :(
the poor betta man. i honestly didnt think a fish could live in such awful conditions, its horrid to think if i were in such a tiny filthy space like that.
I actually worked in a Saltwater aquarium that was next to the ocean and their system for water filtration was super cool, cycled in and out of the ocean, so they didn't need a bubble machine, and it made it much easier for the filter feeders to survive.
3:40 i live by a pet store that sells reptiles, and they get SOME of their reptiles from local breeders, and my dad thinks… “oh, some local breeders?! that must mean ALL of the reptiles are from local breeders and NONE of them get shipped!” and he’s for some reason really against shipping reptiles??? like, ive been waiting for a reptile breeder that i really like that focuses on mainly western hognose snakes to restock on female albinos. my dad keeps saying “lets just get one from the pet store, shipping is dangerous for the reptile” despite the fact that he’s never owned a reptile or done ANY research.
It just makes me so angry when people will say they love animals but treat their small pets poorly. "Animals" means more than cats or dogs! Fish, hamsters, rats, mice, birds, amphibians, salamanders, lizards, and so much more! All of them are small creatures that need proper care and love!
About the peppermint shrimp, I had one when my dad and I had coral salt water tank. Shrimp are actually super sensitive, we got ours to help with our Aiptasia (peppermint shrimp eat them which is better than the other removal methods imo). We were able to practically dump ours in after over a year of getting the tank settled and having consistent chemical levels. (After acclimating him to temp first!!) But it breaks my heart to see people make a "saltwater" tank with no cycling, no water testing, nothing. That poor shrimp
Thank you for sharing these videos! The girl with the Chihuahua called maddie was being posted on Instagram and because of your videos I managed to have the post taken down!!
QUICK NOTE ON THE STATEMENT AT 13:00 Animals that are 2 different species and who would be considered predator and prey can be friends and have a bond. Predatory pets like cats and dogs can be friends with prey animals like rabbits and birds. It’s not impossible, in fact it’s well documented.
@@sodapets I think a lot of the times when predator and prey are bonded it's because they were raised together from birth and/or experienced trauma together, no? or maybe thats just me thinking about wholesome and sad story of the Lion, Tiger, and Bear that lived together in a zoo after being rescued from abusive owners as children
My parents were amazed when I told them how long gold fish should live... I just wish it was common knowledge (even when I was 6 years old I questioned the fact that they can grow into their tank) it just didn't make any sense that if a fish grew to the right size when they get a certain size in the wild... it makes me sad that they are the most commonly mistreated animals
I don't think TikTok cares about all this content considering that they used that one video by that Maddie (that's the dog's name right? 👀) for an ad for TikTok on TH-cam 👁️👄👁️it was that video where she's just "teaching" Maddie to "accept love"
In the US most pet stores don’t even carry housing that’s adequate. (aside from privately owned ones that are actually responsible) Chain pet stores in particular usually don’t even have cages appropriate for the hamsters that they’re selling, much less for more exotic animals. Unfortunately employees are required to give sales pitches for what they have in store, and as such it’s difficult for an employee to give you true advice even if they wanted to. The care packets in chain pet stores are also incredibly unreliable because they’re just more advertising for the store’s products. Again, some individual pet stores here are very responsible and managed by people who are knowledgeable and care about the well-being of the animals they sell, but in general I’ve had to do most supply shopping online because the local pet stores literally didn’t carry any products that would work for my animals.
The employees don't need qualifications of any kind for most chains, either. I was 16 when I got my first PetSmart job and they didn't even care if I knew about the animals, they were just like "when can you work". Sadly I was the only one who did know about animals and they rarely put me on the floor, so all I could do was advise people on their purchases when they reached the register. By that time they had already been told by an idiot that the things they were buying were adequate. They would sell hermit crabs with aquarium gravel and no sand to burrow and molt in which is a death sentence, and saltwater fish to people buying freshwater setups, and just try telling an American than bettas actually are NOT supposed to live in tiny bowls despite what literally everyone they have ever known has said. The saddest part is people would just be like "well if it dies in 2 weeks I get a free replacement anyway right?" It's amazing that in NZ at least they don't even sell to you if you don't have a cycled tank! You literally could not tell an American they can't buy fish without a proper tank, they'd scream for your manager and you'd get in trouble. Great society we have here.
it's always crazy to me how someone with no fish knowledge can somehow do 10 times better than someone who actually owns the damn fish. that guy was cool for at least trying nd I'm sure the Betta really appreciated it. It was better than whatever tf was going on in her original tank..
The dms are made that way I assume is because it limits people from bullying people in dms. There's been multiple people who were attacked in their dms. Its why we cant have good things or regular dms
I impulse bought my second hamster Amber but she and my older hamster Aspen are the sweetest cutest babies ever. I love giving them the occasional mealworm and letting them explore their little playpens for outside time. Aspen actually prefers being in his cage so I give him lots of toys and snack puzzles. Table Salt comes from the mines and apart from the same types of Sodium Chloride or NaCl both salts have, Table salt doesn't have the same qualities in water. It's not really suitable for Aquarium life and doesn't protect the fish from getting any worse possible parasitic bacteria or diseases. Aquarium Salt really does it's trick and helps many fish owners. And also, table salt might just kill off the fish
Yeah, fish seem hard to take care of. I'll stick with cats for now. But at some point I'm getting a corn snake, I've wanted one since forever but I gotta move first, which I can't untill I'm 18-19
hey, ditto! I've always dreamed about taking care of a ball python, but unfortunately 1) have a mother who's absolutely horrified by snakes, and 2) an incredibly religious extended family who view snakes as satanic (for some reason? i myself am a hard-core Christian and i absolutely cannot comprehend it) patience is our only hope smh

i had goldfish that lasted fifteen years. there was two catfishes in there aswell. they cleaned the tank pretty good. it was pretty big, and the tank held four big fish. they died while we were moving out, which is really sad :(
I totally agree with what you said about salt water fish care during the video about the peppermint shrimp! I’ve got a large saltwater tank in at my dad’s house that requires quite a lot of care. We often have to do a deep cleaning of the tank where we have to make gallons of salt water and test it a *bunch* It’s not an easy task and salt water fish should never be an impulse buy
Guy with the betta obviously was working on knowledge he was gathering on the fly for a fish that wasn't his. And this man still did more and cared more than most actual fish owners do. The fish dying was not his fault at all and my heart is happy to see someone actually caring about the health and wellbeing of a fish. What a sweet and kind guy for trying so hard.
The bearded dragon and the cat one.... they did NOT stop it. There is another video where they both just lay in the enclosure together and in that video you get a picture that they are just friends and all. But that video that you showed my heart was braking for that beardie was so scared, flailing his heard and opening his mouth. Breaks my heart why would you let your beardie be scared for it's life even if the cat did not hurt him! My sphynx cat and my beardie "get along" means that neither are scared of eachother but I would NEVER keep them in touching distance, the cat is locked in another room when my beardie scoots around the apartment free. They are very cute when they kinda seem to communicate through the glass of the enclosure but you should leave it at that.
What hurt me the most was the cat and dwarf hamster because, I have each of those animals and I don't let them near each other. Another thing is my cats and wild mice I don't like hearing them squeak before they die so I always grab the mouse and release it so my cats don't have it. (I know some people may disagree with the mouse thing but I love raising baby mice and releasing them unless they become way to attached to me. I hate having my mouse have to listen to other mice pleading for their lives.)

Well online or phone vet can be helpful if you have anxiety over every unusual parrot poop like I have ;) Plus closest avian vet I have is 30 km from where I live, so with small things i call him, but with something serious, online visit will be not enough. but sometimes calling vet could be enough with small problems.
i followed their acc alr before I saw this vid, but I think she is treating him medication pills or smth. do you want me to find out more info?
i am a vet and we are LEGALLY not allowed to give medical advice without seeing the animal first hand. the extent of what i can say to my friends who ask is a guess and whether it requires an emergency vet visit or not. there is no way i would recommend medication, especially a strong NSAID like meloxicam, without seeing the animal first and evaluating it at least for the bare minimum...
yeah, patellar luxation is easy to spot. It's just the knee bending backwards when the dog walks
The peppermint shrimp TikTok made me so mad. Like, you’d think people would have the simple thought process of: Oh, this animal is saltwater, so it probably comes from the ocean, which covers most of the planet. Well, maybe it needs a big tank, since it’s used to an amount of water that covers most of the *planet*
And then, they don’t have the thought process, and people really do be like: Oh, it’s fine, it has a ✨ *molecule* ✨ of water. It’s fine, don’t worry about it. My shrimp has enough space with *one molecule of water*
Since you live in a galaxy do you Need an entire galaxy to live properly?
@chick! Yeah i'm sure of That! I only wanted to joke on the exageration😂
im so sorry for the shrimp. what happends to it after the video? or after the holidays? they r not trow away pets : ( concerned thats what its gonna be.
Yeah unless it’s been drip acclimated for an hour plus it’s survival chance is pretty minimal.
I fr think that if you look at shrimp wrong it dies 😅 appended to mine they lasted like a week( nearly perfect water conditions)
Right? Not to mention that the bacteria beneath cat's nails can cause a lizard to die from the tiniest scratch
That bearded dragon could have also harmed the cat too or given it salmonella. Harm goes both ways
@@kam-lw4ezyeah but that doesn't serve the narrative that cats are evil so we can't talk about that

@@joeyphaahla yea
If their feet and nose are pale, if they're stiff and if they're not breathing, then they've unfortunately passed away.
well said!
i noticed how soda didnt address this so i was gonna make a comment too… (theyve not done anything wrong, their channel is lovely i just think it’s important because fish torpor is very different)
this also applies to other small mammals like mice- i once had my pet mouse go into torpor because of a sudden temperature drop (i live where theres extremely varied weather 😖) and putting her against my chest near my face worked well. you just have to be careful not to crush them or impair their ability to breathe.
they can die very suddenly so it’s important you keep an eye on your pets who may be susceptible to death by torpor. especially if you experience colder weather.
THIS!!! everytime my hamster goes into torpor i always warm her up. its very important to warm up hamsters when theyre in torpor

When there are people that are confused about why tanks should be so big for fish i remind them that other fish live in oceans and massive bodies of water so it makes sense that fish need large areas to live in
i just do the comparison of "would *you* like to live in a tiny room with no bathroom and no way to properly clean?"
When my guardian was hospitalized, her fishtank reached a similar tank that Gillys got to with a black goldfish living inside. I did the same and tried to clean it, with the same results. Good intentions! But a learning experience. There are a few reasons Gilly died:
- a lot of the gross gunk is settled on the walls and floor so stirring it up puts it free-floating into the water and their gils
- shock from such a different bacterial environment/ temperature changes
- already compromised health from living in such an environment for so long
If you take on the task of cleaning a tank like this, you should be gradual.
It sucks.
That tank with the peppermint shrimp made the shrimp look gigantic 😬

The fact that she plays animal crossing music in the background is just calming for me

I hate the 1 gallon bowls and tanks we sell, but most employees here actually get people to not buy them.

being a bearded dragon owner myself, that beardie video was stressful, cat scratches/bites are extremely harmful to reptiles. cats do not have clean claws or mouths so when a cat injures a reptile the wound can get infected and its very bad for them :( even the beardie enclosure is horrific..

Despicable.
YEAH thats nasty, both pulling around an animal and putting it in direct danger with a predator is for a tiktok vid of all things is horrifying.

That betta one hit where it hurts. I got a fish a couple years ago and put it in that exact same tank. It was a miracle that it survived as long as it did. I gave it away to a friend who kept it in a much much much better tank. He got so colorful and made bubble nest things before he died a year after I gave him to her :) although I’m disappointed in my inability to care for him, I’m so happy he got a good second half of his life
your christmas tank is so cute! i love ur birbs so much. i was planning to get conures but realized i wouldn’t have been able to take care for it. :)

Animals that are 2 different species and who would be considered predator and prey can be friends and have a bond. Predatory pets like cats and dogs can be friends with prey animals like rabbits and birds. It’s not impossible, in fact it’s well documented.
Rarely it can be done, but it shouldn't be encouraged. They still cannot communicate with each other

The saddest part is people would just be like "well if it dies in 2 weeks I get a free replacement anyway right?"
It's amazing that in NZ at least they don't even sell to you if you don't have a cycled tank!
Yes put it in this uncycled tank until the other one is cycled to keep it healthy
I've seen the cat and hamster plenty of times on TH-cam. It's got tons of likes and people thinking that it's "cute".
These days I can't fall asleep without the sound of them both doing something, it's almost soothing

why is table salt bad and how is it different from aquarium salt? genuinely asking
Aquarium salt is a pure sodium salt (NaCl), while table salt has declumping agents, iodine, and trace minerals.
If we compare to water: aquarium salt is to table salt, what distilled water is to a bottle of sparkling San Pellegrino water.
But at some point I'm getting a corn snake, I've wanted one since forever but I gotta move first, which I can't untill I'm 18-19
hey, ditto! I've always dreamed about taking care of a ball python, but unfortunately 1) have a mother who's absolutely horrified by snakes, and 2) an incredibly religious extended family who view snakes as satanic (for some reason? i myself am a hard-core Christian and i absolutely cannot comprehend it)
patience is our only hope smh
When your bird was on your shoulder and was talking to you, I had that reflex of repeating what it said. I've had a bird for 11 years, 2008 to 2019, that reflex never goes away 😂😅
i love your videos! when my cockatiel hears your birds he chirps with them lol
i had goldfish that lasted fifteen years. there was two catfishes in there aswell. they cleaned the tank pretty good.
it was pretty big, and the tank held four big fish.
they died while we were moving out, which is really sad :(
I totally agree with what you said about salt water fish care during the video about the peppermint shrimp!
At least the last guy tried. And I beg to differ my girlfriend's pets get along very well.
I went to Petsmart for 2 guinea pigs and the employee kept saying "no 3 because the 3rd one controls the fights." I realized I should've done more research and ended up with 2 boars, they live together well. Don't trust pet store employees.
What's wrong with that employee, man that made me want to punch them. They talk like there's a referee section for guineas
@@_uwu_9992 They try to force ppl to spend money and care less about the animals. As I was shopping for the boars that day, another employee was training a golden retriever and they let the dog scare the baby Guinea pigs. The poor babies were in a glass tank, bottom level. Guinea pigs are scared of bigger objects hovering over them too.
@@stargentitude7154I hate that there are people that mass produce animals for money and throw away or kill those that wasn't sold. Even the employees treat them like products instead living beings. THOSE POOR LIVES! And the the obvious disregard to the animals' feelings too when you said they let the dog scared the poor rodents!
@@_uwu_9992 I called every Petsmart asking for female Guinea pigs, they all were only selling males. They must have been keeping the females to breed only or to feed pet snakes.
@@stargentitude7154 You can also contact breeders tho it's unexpected that all PetSmart at your place doesn't have females.
And I don't think they're keeping females for breeding purposes because that means they'll be producing more guineas which also means no shortage of males and females. And tho snakes DO eat guineas and CAN be a part of their diet it's not like they selectively chose females as snake food instead of both.
We had a lid on our leopard gecko. I left it open on accident, and one of our cats got in and made him drop his tail. As soon as we noticed we got the cat out and treated the tail. He is doing well now, and is living at the school my sister teaches at.
