Bought a mobo that had its top lane clip broken off but the bottom lane still had one. This video really helped me make sure not to break the other one. Thank you!
thank you for this i accidently broke mine when i was taking the graphic card out, i forgot there was a clip on it and i was so worried because my bf repeatedly told me to be extremely careful with the motherboard and graphic card. when i told him, he was so disappointed.
Tip to get a replacement clip: try to reach out to the manufacturer. I've managed to break the clip too, I've emailed asrock and they sent me one within a week.
Great! As I also have as Asrock mobo (pretty sure they have a quality issue on PCIE clips...) can you maybe link to this particular brand of PCIE? Many thanks !
Dude, the clip on my ASRock board literally just snapped on me too! I love the board, it’s served me well, but why is the plastic such bad quality on these clips? Over on Reddit it seems like everyone is having the same issue, wtf. Small world. Were you able to find replacements, or did you figure out another solution?
@@steele_heart77 I found somebody selling a broken version of my board for parts on ebay for 30-40 dollars... These boards tend to break a lot which I don't know if it's a good or bad thing lmao
In a way, it's good to know that it wasn't just a one-off. This kind of thing might affect people's purchase decisions, but probably only if their choices of boards are nearly the same price.

@@jamiesweet4352 There's nothing to worry about. I know some people that remove them just for convenience.

But that clip was junkier and not green
Mine has been broken for a couple of years... Don't see the need to replace as long as it's screwed in properly in the rear of the case.
Huh, in my case the clip didn't shattered so the only secret was to insert it back precisely. Thank you still
That's great that it didn't shatter. Glad you could get it back together.
Great video, thanks

It wasn't a brand name and I don't have it handy. I bought the new slots on AliExpress and just picked the cheapest ones I could find.
@@ChillBuildsThanks for the quick answer !
If the bottom pcie clips still there can I remove it without breaking it and replace the top one? I’m assuming not but
I have a gpu sag support thing that I’ll try
Great job, Thanks for sharing!
Where did you get these clips or slots from? I have a similar ASRock board with a broken clip I want to replace
You can find replacement PCIE slots on eBay, Aliexpress, or probably some other electronic parts suppliers.

I see few clips sold on AliExpress
This happened to me time ago. Freaked out and inmediately run to the store to buy another mobo : (
@@blueboi3229 ah dang. That's a shame.
Where do I get thrm

Asrock graphics card retention clips are the most flimsy fragile plastic I have ever experienced on any motherboard.
Made to fail

0:13 as I'm actively doing this..
It's 2024, why is it still plastic
Plastics are perfectly fine materials for tons of uses, even in 2024. You just need to select the right plastic.
You don't want to break the print board of the GPU!
tofu dreg plastic...
