    K teacher for 8 years 🙋🏼‍♀️ it’s the most fulfilling yet challenging grade. The growth they make is incredible. Biggest tip is establish routines and structure early and be VERY EXPLICIT in what you expect. Seriously, over explain and act out/model EVERYTHING! Also, keep as much data as possible. I’ve found the biggest challenge with K is that a lot of kids come in with big needs and no services because it’s often the first time they’ve been exposed to being around other kids/a school environment. Sometimes it’s literally like these kids have crawled out from under a rock. It can often take months and months of data tracking to prove they need extra support, and meanwhile they’re taking up the majority of your attention while you have 15-20 other kids to also worry about 😵‍💫 having a co teacher will definitely help though! Excited to see your journey!

      I couldn't agree more with all this. I used to teach pre-k and now I am a special education teacher, and taught kindergarten last year. That is definitely the year some of them need to be evaluated and get lost in the education system. Tracking data and everything you have tried is key. Kindergarten is the most rewarding because they go from barely knowing letters and numbers to full blown reading, recognizing sight words and doing math. It is so rewarding to watch. Also recommend keeping a notebook of all the funny things they say for when you are having a bad day and need a laugh! haha

    This is my third year in K! I’ve learned the hard way, that they need structure right away. Get the routines introduced in the first two weeks and then stick to them no matter what! It’ll help their behaviors so much :) kinder is the most rewarding though! I love it

    I was a kindergarten teacher and I loved it but it is also really tiring! At the start of the year make sure you have your bus list and car rider list all ironed out first day because they will be insecure about going home. Also when you go out for recess take your roster so you don’t lose anyone who isn’t paying attention. 😂. There is a lot of teaching simple things like popping the top of the glue sticks and such, but they are so sweet and they grow Sooooo much in that year! It’s super rewarding!

    I worked in kinder for a little while before getting my current job in first grade and the beginning of the year is basically working in kinder. It’s definitely a lot more demanding when it comes to working independently but the growth that you see from the beginning of the year to the end makes your teacher heart explode with pride. It is a big jump from 2nd but not in a bad way!

    Kindergarten teacher for 7.5 years. I learned how to be extremely patient. I think having your co-teacher will be extremely helpful to navigate all that is K! Patience is key. Simple, explicit directions are important. I went from K to 2nd so reverse of you! Just know they are "babies" and need guidance with everything. Pictures with directions. Clear expectations. Teaching them EVERYTHING. Routines and procedures for the first to three months. Good luck! I can't wait to see your guys' classroom transform! So fun.

    I’ve taught kindergarten for 7 years - best tips are routine, routine and routine! And have it displayed big and bold. The first month is just getting them used to this. Second is also showing them bathroom routine and etiquette. Third is your relationship with your teaching partner is so important - I think it’s easy sometimes to forget about caring for that relationship. But also figuring out what each other’s strengths are and roll with that. Trust will make the classroom much more enjoyable.
    Last tip timers are your best friend! Great visual tool. Kindergarten is very tough but so rewarding the amount of growth you get to be apart of is insane so while some days are hard the processes is so worth it!

    This will be my third year teaching kinder! It’s such a fun age and a super fulfilling grade to teach. You will be absolutely amazed at the growth you see from the beginning to the end of year! Routine, routine, routine is so important at their age. If they know routines and procedures that’s half the battle right there. My kids last year would tell subs they were doing things wrong.🙈 There’s a lot of ground to cover in kinder, and kids come into the year with a super wide range of abilities. Do not panic if some kids aren’t blending CVC words yet by the end of the first semester. In my experience it “clicks” for some later in the year and then they soar. Not always, but for a good many. I remember my first year (and even a little this year) I was really worried about some and most ended up being just fine! And most importantly, have fun with them!! It’s one of my favorite parts about kindergarten-you get to see enormous academic progress, but they’re also still little so there’s room to squeeze in more fun activities as well! You get to experience such a magical age teaching kinder. Laugh with them, play with them, and enjoy them! You’ve got this! ❤

    I really love the coteaching model. I am a reading specialist and I coteach with a Kindergarten teacher during the phonics block. We are both the teachers during that time. Sometimes I will teach the lesson and she will pull a small group. Sometimes we both pull small groups and sometimes we both teach the lesson at the same time (esp when we teach a new concept) She is a first year teacher but I still learned from her and she learned from me :)

    I just taught kinder (this was only my second year teaching) this year coming from first grade! I absolutely LOVED it! They are perfect and sweet personalities BUT make sure you have high expectations for behavior. I also used a lot of conscious discipline because the littles have a lot of big feelings. Research it, it will be helpful! Also make sure you are on top of routines so they know what to expect from you as a teacher! I hope you have a fantastic year! 💛

    I was a kinder teacher the past two years! It is different for everyone, I had a child who wasn’t potty trained my first year, and I have said that if I could conquer that, I could conquer anything! My biggest tip is to give them a REASON for everything. Tell them why they need to do something, why we have certain rules, why everything is important! It’s most of their first time in school, so to give them that love for learning that they’ll carry with them is the best part of the grade!

  • @kaelynhaught6969

    Hi there! I’ve taught kindergarten for two years now. First of all, you’ve got to have a lot of patience. (Everyone says this). Keep a notebook to write down the funny things they say. Remind yourself when you get frustrated, they are only 5. They love to give you hugs and tell you they love you. 🥹 Expect little gifts and drawings almost everyday. Their little bodies can only sit and be still for so long. Get them up and moving when you can. Lastly, have fun teaching them. It’s amazing to see the difference a whole school year can make for a child. I love watching my students grow physically and academically. I hope you enjoy teaching kindergarten!! ❤

    Despite everything that comes with teaching kinder, kinder is just my jam, and I am so happy to return to kinder for the new school year. Sure it'll be tiring sometimes but so entertaining and rewarding! I'm actually teaching kinder summer school and it is a reminder of how much I belong in kinder. I'm excited for you and I can't wait to see you on the journey, I really hope you love kinder as much as me 😅. Also, a great kinder tip is having pictures as a guide for all classroom expectations especially if stations are involved. It keeps the kids from constantly asking what to do or where to go!

      Hey i heard of a great idea thst you can do with your classroom prints. To make it more personal and interactive you can have the kids create their own alphabets to hang up in the classroom and other posters. This has shown great results with learning and more interaction in the classroom. You can look into it more if you want but I'm so ecited to share this with you and be on this journey. I'm so happy you are lead teaching in your own classroom again.

    • @nataliegill1838
      @nataliegill1838 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @madisoncampell you can also use the charts you make wiry the students when you are teaching them something and hang it up. This shows more value to the kids because they will remember what happened and what they learned. They will most likely look at it then a poster you will buy to hang up.

    • @Tara-cv2kz
      @Tara-cv2kz 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nataliegill1838 I really like the idea of creating their own alphabet for the room… but I gotta say I also appreciate a cohesive, clean looking, decorated room. do you think it would defeat the purpose if you gave them a limited color pallet or something to draw with?

    • @nataliegill1838
      @nataliegill1838 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Tara-cv2kz this is to guide interacting and engagement. The limited color pallet and something to draw with reminds me of coloring sheets which we know that's not very creative. Young children love creativity and having pride in the classroom to know they helped make something or have their own hand in learning something. Of course there will be guidance from the teacher in making an alphabet in regards how madison and the coteacher will want to do it. If they want to start with a printout letters and the children decorate them or start from scratch. But when almost everything on your classroom shows children had a hand in their own learning it's refreshing. I felt the same way when I first heard about because I like to have neatness and order as well but I kept hearing about the great results from children interacting more in their environment. Children at this stage are still wanting to learn and they enjoy having fun while learning.

  • @idabagusrahadi6593
    @idabagusrahadi6593 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Oh, my gosh. Look at that, the kindergarten room is very nice and neat. This is what makes students feel comfortable to learn and teachers to teach.
    This is beyond my expectations, when in my past, the classroom was really messy, after school the atmosphere became a mess. But, thanks to the sprightly cleaning staff, the classrooms look clean and no dust is left behind.

    Just be weary going into a PreK-8 school. I was at a school just like that, same vibes (even the building was similar to yours), seemed great, but it was awful. The middle school kids were so disrespectful, plain careless and rude. They'd trample over my 2nd graders like they werent even there. Kinder even worse. They'd sneak into classrooms when teachers weren't in and steal stuff. Just be careful!
