When you say it happens even to the best players, quoting Harden and Curry, you have to take in account they are pretty mediocre defensive players, they are amongst the greatest even without this side of the floor because they are absolutely unstoppable offensively. The players that are elite on both ends of the floor like Giannis to quote a name you know, are really rare. There's multiple types of player you'll come across, Klay Thompson you watched recently for his 37 point quarter is a 3&D, he's a specialist in defense and 3pt shooting. Curry is a pure playmaker that can create points for his team in any situation, wether by shooting or passing. If you watch some Rudy Gobert or Pat Beverley for instance, you'll see pure defensive specialists. There's a lot more types of players you'll come across but I had to point this out, all around elite ballers are rare.
at 8:10, durant does a variation of a move called a “hesitation” or “hesi” for short. usually a hesitation is when a player just pauses for a second like he’s stopping or gathering then turns on the gas, but he switches it up here. he lets the ball drift up towards his chest like he’s about to shoot, then as soon as giannis steps to him he’s gone
Tim Hardaway (my personal favorite player all-time) DESTROYS them all. Sadly, all of the highlights videos of him on TH-cam are only like 3-4 minutes long, so I'm not sure it'd make for a good video for Luka to do. Nevertheless, ALL are very entertaining.
ItzAndaTime 42 he didn’t popularize the crossover. He popularized the street ball style of ball handling we see today. The crossover was already a staple in the game
A few general basketball terms (i’m sure you already know some of these, but just to clear up some confusion): Dunk: when they slam the ball directly into the basket Layup: a shot that is close to the basket but not dunked in. usually underhanded Jumper/jumpshot: self explanatory, anytime they jump and shoot the ball. usually from distances too far to dunk or layup Crossover: dribbling the ball from one hand to the other. it crosses over in front of/behind you. So it’s not an ankle-breaker where the person doesn’t fall, because those are still crossover moves Stepback: faking a move of running toward the basket and then stopping on a dime and pulling the ball back for a jump shot “And-1”: term used when a player is fouled when shooting and still makes the shot. when you are fouled while shooting and miss, you get to shoot 2-3 free throws. if you make the shot then you get an extra free throw so you get a chance at an extra point.
Players fall because the dribbler goes a direction the defender doesn't expect, causing the defender the shift their momentum the wrong way then when they try to recover they end up falling from losing balance. Players rarely fall from slipping because the courts are cleaned at intervals and the shoes have a lot of grip, although it does sometimes happen.
Man I want to recommend so many videos because I love your reactions bro you genuinely actually are entertained and want to learn about the sport but I honestly have no idea where to start some highlight compilations don’t do these guys justice.
A crossover is the dribble move in most of these where they "cross over" the ball from one hand to the other. It's got nothing to do with what the defender does.
Hey guys, I know Luka has already seen this list but please like it if these are the videos you'd like him to react to or feel free to comment if I missed any. -Zion Williamson high school mixtape -Kevin Ware injury (the most gruesome injury in basketball history) -Allen Iverson highlights (If you want to see some crazy handles and crossovers) -Kobe Bryant's final game (his last NBA game he dropped 60 points before retiring) -Tracy McGrady 13 points 33 seconds (to win the game) Cool shooting videos: -Stephen Curry 12 threes against OKC (at the time this tied the 3 point record) -Klay Thompson 14 threes against the Bulls (this was also done in less than 3 quarters and is a still standing NBA record). -Stephen Curry 13 threes against Pelicans (Was the previous NBA record at the time) -NBA Players on fire (there are a bunch of these videos and you get to see players make very hard shots because they feel they can't miss).
As for your question about courts being slippery, that is pretty common in high school and earlier as they don't have the same budget for court upkeep. In college and the pros though the traction on the court is actually insane. Every once in a while they might slip on some sweat, but most ankle breakers they fall because they tried to react faster than their body could move
Luka this was a great video. Cannot believe young kids don't go the gym and play basketball during the cold rainy days in the UK. Guess its 100% soccer 100% of the time.
Watch “best of hotsauce” hotsauce is a streetball legend who pioneered breaking ankles and how players like kyrie dribble. He’s a legend from the 2000’s
Luka my man, James Harden is an all star and deservedly so. But, if you gave me a half hour and a modicum of effort, I could make you a better defender than he is. He's famous for the "Wave at them as they go by" defense.
The guy you said looks massive is Dwight Howard. He'll probably be in the hall of fame. He's older now and he's on the lakers but when he was younger he was an amazing defender and a great dunker, he took the Magic to the Finals in 2010. Worth a reaction vid if you ask me.
some of those were trips and some were wet floors (from sweat). every possession, after the action moves to the other end, one or more dry mops come out, or towels, to dry the floor. sometimes they dry the floor during the pause when they do free throws.
the floor is pretty sticky, along with their shoes, and they get so much grip that you hear their shoes squeaking on the floor constantly when you watch. but sometimes they get done so bad that all of that friction still isnt enough to keep them from sliding and breaking ankles

Most of Chris Paul's and Harden's moves are step in with the should step-backs, so it's less that the players are falling and more that they are getting pushed over by Harden or Paul
You need to watch a full game. Stuff like this happens pretty much at least once per game. At least. Often multiple times per game. Basketball culture is the most unique and exciting in the world.
Yo Lavish, you should check out God Shamgod. Theres a great video on him by Bleacher Report. He had the most amazing cross over move. It changed the game forever!!

When you talk about the best of the best, to put that into perspective, each year, 256 players are drafted by NFL teams; 900 each year in MLB; NHL has 217; only 60 in the NBA. Personally, I believe that hockey requires players to use the most skill and athletic ability simultaneously than the other Big 5 sports but becoming a professional basketball player is, statistically, almost miraculous.
