I had the pleasure and privilege to see Dave's layout last summer. Both he and his wife were gracious hosts but after seeing the layout first hand and to say I was impressed would be an understatement. The layout is Museum quality and something to aspire to. Thank you Dave for posting this as you are right "Good enough is not good enough". If I'm invited back I'll bring some of my CP stuff 😉
WOW, what an excellent layout and concepts. Loved the idea of pullout shelving underneath the layout for access to wiring vs laying on your back to do repairs, brilliant. Bravo, for a job well done. Kman
Rapids Trains Many thanks for sharing. What a fantastic and detailed layout built to very high standards by Dave. All of the scratch built buildings look fantastic and the overall look is so real... I wish .... Great to see thanks.. Good to see you Dave, best wishes to Pam. Brings back good memories of Calder Northern days in the UK.. Keith & Louise..
The utter passion of the "Greatest Hobby On Earth" and why we're drawn to it on so many different levels. I couldn't stand in the shadow of this man and his superb talent as all that I can do is marvel over it, and be inspired. Bravo sir, Bravo!
Fantastic layout. Truly a master model railroader. Ingenious use of the fascia being removable and the wiring behind them on the shelves. Seems like a very nice guy too.👍
This is just incredible workmanship. I can't imagine the patience it takes to create such an awe inspiring layout as this. The talent it takes to create something like this is far and few. Congratulations and thanks you so much for sharing.
Good enough is not good enough ...... or...... If a jobs worth doing it’s worth doing well! And sir your layout is wonderful and far tooooooo many other descriptive words to write.......and good to c you’re still going strong at 77! 😎👍🇬🇧
Just amazing. Unbelievable. Beautiful! I'm very glad to see someone modeling the industrial type of a layout instead of the slot car version of going in circles. My current plans is to build a small industrial railroad with industrial scenes that we usually don't see modeled. You're truly an inspiration to us.
However anyone chooses to enjoy the hobby is great, but we agree, industries were the lifeblood of railways so it's nice to see them done the justice they deserve!
Amazing, the scope of scratch built structures is incredible. I love the scope of huge industries, its something rarely seen in layouts and this one is packed with them. I love his 70 year plan. Cheers, Rob
This is a very nice layout. I have my layout planned and it will contain some features like this layout. So good to see how this one is set up and running with the ideas in place. Love it.
This is a fantastic layout! Its so great to see the level of detail in the scratch built building. Also thescenes from the North main line in Ontario Stratford and Kitchener! Well done! Hope to see move videos like this!
What an artist and engineer. Da vinci would have been proud of you! Keep up the good work Sir. You may be able to cram in another 70 years. We'll all be hoping!
Fantastic layout, stunning craftsman ship. Makes want to go back in time as this reminds of simpler times. Kudos Dave and please show us an update with the cattle yard.
I’m late for work now I couldn’t break away from this absolutely beautiful detail layout. Best of all he’s sounds like Northerner from the uk , like me so I can dream one day of having a snippet of one of his modules 👍
@@rapidotrains Railfans will note that a gentleman named David Gunn was head of Amtrak, the NYCTA, SEPTA, the DC Metro, and other leadership gigs in transportation. Highly regarded. I’m sure modeler Dave Gunn has been told this multiple times 🙂
Thank you for the tour!! This is a very nice layout, and you sir are a top notch modeler!!! Please update us on your progress if you can I think all of us watching this video would love that!!!
@@rapidotrains track and wiring all finished. Landforms and scenery next. Adding a turnout though, to accommodate a barrel ore car train. Can’t wait. That’s what my upper deck was built for.
If I'm not mistaken I'm hearing a West Country Accent.... is Mr Gunn an ex pat?? I used to model Canadian National/Union Pacific but it's so hard getting rolling stock over here and I don't have the space, certainly not to run either my beloved Rivorossi "Big Boy" cerca 1992 or DD40x. However I must be a glutton for punishment as I recently acquired 3 Bachman Spectrum ON3 narrow gauge loco's, 2 in box's and the third a 28 tonne Shay being converted into an oil burner.....

Thank you! Darren is one of Dave's fellow club members. Not sure if he has any videos.

Suggestion: Amtrak Piedmont equipment
Rapido would need to model either SLCC equipment or the KCS SLC/ACF cars from 1960-1961
Suggestion noted!
A new rapido upload: step 1. drop everything and crab phone. Step 2: watch, ignoring everything around you
We like this plan. 😆
wow just wow
Couldn't agree more!
Super kewl

♥️♥️♥️ The only positive thing about the lock down is time to operate.
That and the time you have to build!
Wow!
