Mountainbiker here, although Primos Cycles doesn't offer a full-on MTB right now, I really dig their philosophy: Purposeful bikes above the ultra-cheap budget price tags (which repairs of cost more than the bike itself) below the ultra-expensive stuff, that most people only buy to show off! I wish more bike companies would pay attention to this.
Primos shipped mine via UPS from Portland to Alabama and I received the bike 2 days ago with no damage, scratches or paint chips on the matte black color way. Maybe the gloss paint may be prone to scratches. I was successful converting the Conti Terra Hardpack stock tires and wheels to tubeless and adding tubeless rim tape. The tires have a wire bead but are tubeless compatible and I was able to set them with the sealant. I have taken it on a few test rides through, gravel single track and asphalt bike paths and its still impressing me! Carlos and Pascal designed an awesome bike with awesome components for the perfect affordable price! I am glad I purchased mine when I did because these bikes will be flying off the shelves once the word gets out. Thanks ACE, Looking forward to seeing your 100 mile test review.
Hell yea! Glad to hear it. It's awesome you were able to successfully switched over to tubeless. I'll probably do that this weekend. Thanks for watching!
Appreciate the review. I've been dialing mine in. Two things I had to do was get 650B replacement tubes for flats and to dial in the rear derailleur. I took to the microShift shifter like a fish to water. I've only got 50 miles on it so more to come.
Gotta love when an affordable bike nails it and works. Be curious how comfy you find the steel they used. My Brodie Roam is heavy AF snd less compliant than my AL framed bikes. Bad steel is just bad steel, hope they used something compliant.
The bike looks AWESOME. A lot of bang for your buck. One thing I would change out the box is the seat & pedals ( it’s a preference thing) The only thing I don’t like is the O in Prim😏s. The face just sticks out. #LONGLIVE650B
Pretty good value for 2025. I don’t see a hole for internal dropper post but other than that, it seems pretty modern enough to be able able to upgrade if needed.
Yeup. Sadly no hole for the dropper. I actually have a lever actuated dropper I use on my gravel bikes. It's not as cool or sophisticated as an internal dropper but it's a quick and convenient swap out. I'll probably do a video with that soon. Thanks for watching!
@acebikemedia I bought a surly preamble drop bar version, it's a really nice bike but it cost a couple hundred bucks more and came with lower level microshift components. But everything still works well.
@@impracticooljack6866keep in mind that Surly is an established , quality brand. It will retain it’s value better and be worth more on the 2nd hand market. Not saying this bike isn’t well made, but only time will tell
I was one of the first to buy this bike!! It’s a really nice bike and is really specked out very well! It’s a better value than the State and Poseidon bikes, all of which I previously owned. If you are thinking about the above brands, you should also take a look at Primos.
@@impracticooljack6866dude I bought a surly preamble flat bar 8 speed a month before the 9 speed and hydraulic brakes version came out. Love the frame but I think I would’ve went with the Primos too if I would’ve known about it sooner.
Love that bike! I just got a Gravity Zilla Pro from Bikesdirect, $1430. Alu frame with carbon fork, Ritchey Beacon dirt drop, Maxxis Rambler 120tpi 700x50 tires, GRX 2x11 drivetrain and hyd brakes, DT Swiss rims with Shimano hubs, and internal DROPPER POST!
You will like the Sword shifters over the Advent X shifters. The hoods/body is much more ergonomic. I do like the paddles on the X better but got used to the Sword pretty quick. The braking power is much better on the Sword in comparison to the X as well.
I got one really quick, short ride in and the sword is definitely nicer than the x. I think the paddles just seemed so flimsy compared to the x and that took me by surprise. The placement isn't as bad as I expected either.
Bike looks sick. I'm wondering if "dame" should be pronounced "dah-may" (Spanish)? Also, I've had the State 4130 all-road for a couple years, so I'm interested in your thoughts on how the Primos compares.
Dang you might be right on the pronunciation. Not totally sure. But I'll let you know my thoughts on the two back to back as soon as I get some miles. I love me state all road 4130 so should be interesting.
This is a very good looking bike for 800€. Ok 28 pounds is not the lightest but with a carbon fork nice (carbon) wheelset... you easy can reduce 1-2 kg . But i also like how it comes. The nice steel frame build up with some solid good quality parts ...
Yea I may actually try and quickly knock off a couple lbs (kgs) with some parts I have laying around and see what it looks like. I think 26-27 is very doable.
@Oddzilla51 these are super dope at this price. If you want another option, check out the state all road 4130s. I have a 10% code for state bikes if the Primos doesn't do it for you
The _Dame_ is only available in sizes M, L & XL - shame it's not available in my size (I'm 5'7" w/ a 30"inseam). 😏 I'm not buying ill-fitting bikes anymore.
Sounds like medium is perfect for you based on what I can tell.

fook tubless if I'm on budget I'm I don't run tubless setup the best thing about this bike is that for this price we get rigid axles and from what I see there is space in the frame for a 2.25 tire
The frame definitely didn't strike me as the ultra cheap, mass produced steel frames. Truthfully I was expecting that to be the case. The bike feels premium for the price tag.
Lol I know. But also, I have a size large, the 26 could be size small. Brands get clever when publishing weights. I'm fairly certain I can bring the weight of it down quickly and cheaply.
Yea we will see how the integrated hanger holds up. Which Poseidon are you referring to? I rode the redwood and that bike has a very similar spec to the Primos. The big problem with the redwood to me was the geometry.
For me personally the redwood geometry didn't make sense. It had a really tall stand over height compared to the stack height. Also a lot of toe overlap. Kept hitting my feet on the front wheel. Kind of a bummer because the redwood is sick in so many ways and the build is very similar to this Primos.
Europe needs a brand like this.
🤔🤔🤔

There are a few trying to do in the gravel space which is awesome. I'd love to see a couple MTN bike companies pop up like this. Thanks for watching!
This is the type of Bikes that we should be supporting ....Nothing but essentials.....Bike for the Masses
Agreed!

This is the way.
Well said
Amazing bike!!! Can't wait to get mine 😊

I have a feeling the shifter will be the same for me. Have fun man. I'm excited to start collecting some miles.
@acebikemedia Same. Looking forward to seeing updates on it. This is my first new bike in 25 years so getting used to some of the changes.

Fingers crossed it rides good. I got high expectations.
Thanks for the first impressions review. We need options like these and will be looking on their site and just maybe, get one too 😊
Absolutely. Go snag one before they are gone!
This is exactly what I’m looking for. I’m psyched.
Lets see the ride review already!! Can't wait.
Hahaha. Man. I say proclaim I'm gonna do a 100 mile ride review and mother nature firmly disagrees. I'm not made for these temperatures.
I have done one quick ride and I'll say this... The primo feels fast.
@@acebikemediano doubt it’s frigid! Thanks for the quick note.

Great looking bike and definitely is suited for long term upgrades. Too bad I just ordered a bike!
Yea I'm excited to try a few things with this build. Thanks for watching!
I wish I would have known about this bike a couple months ago, it's really nicely spec'ed out for the price but I just bought a new bike.
It is a very nicely spec'd bike. Very impressive what they were able to pull off. Thanks for watching. What bike did you get?

Internal dropper is sweet. I'll have to look into that model. I was following the bikes direct stuff for awhile but not familiar with that one.

Gravel bike…. I’m intrigued. 😊
That is very impressive for the money. Did they use compressionless housing?
They sure did!
Sorta sad that US is getting really smart budget options for bikes :D The whole parts list looks looks really thought out

is that rear derailleur hanger replaceable? Also, Fedex is the worst.
I do not believe so but I'll have to confirm later.
Based on photos on Primos's website, it looks like the frame has an integrated derailleur hanger.
@@markvonwisco7369that’s kinda what I thought too based on the vid. That’s an interesting design choice
it’s steel. if the hanger can’t bend back then a welder can replace it
@@winterwatson6437 Agreed. I doubt steel will be an issue with the derailleur hanger.
Nice steel gravel bike
It's not too bad. Excited to get some miles in on it.
being in the market for a 4130 gravel bike, I'm very interested.
It's definitely a solid option. If you got any questions let me know.
Do you think that a Microshift Sword 2x crankset would be compatible with the frame?
I don't see any reason it wouldn't work. I'll try and look into it more.

the best thing about this bike is that for this price we get rigid axles and from what I see there is space in the frame for a 2.25 tire
I'm fairly certain some 2.25s will fit. I may just try it too.
It will clear 2.35 inch tires. This is a really good value bike. Budget gorilla monsoon.
I think I'm gonna throw some really wide, aggressive MTB tires on just for fun.
Nice touch that they have curved seat stays on the frame, normally only found on higher end Steel frames…

I bought the weight down by placing a carbon fork!! The bike looks sick!❤
typically, that steel frame material yields a bike 26-28 lbs. Never seen a 4130 frame at 22 lbs.
They sure fixed some of the problems the Poseidon has with the parts they picked. Only thing I'm not a fan of is the hanger being a part of the frame.
