Keep up the great work Jeff! I hope to be lucky enough to get one of your axes in the future. In the meantime you're serving as inspiration for me on my axe hafting journey. I have half a dozen under my belt now using Liam Hoffman, Whiskey River and Beaver Tooth handles. I'm keeping it basic so far and refining the fitment better with each attempt. I credit you and Buckin as my primary sources of knowledge as the advice you both selflessly share has served me well to date!
I just got my 4lb tassie from honecker blacksmithing today and i love it❤he does amazing work.i havnt been able to get a conrad axe yet but hopefully will one day.cool video really like seeing both of these blacksmiths works side by side.
Excellent looking and performing axes. Awesome you actually use them. Very good detailing the differences. Tasmanians look great. Glad you like the Ipe. Got a few more chunks for you.
Killer video Jeff. Well done, great comparison. Ipe is knarly wood. Hard to glue because of the high oil content. Might try wiping with solvent/acetone immediately before gluing but the dowels are a good idea regardless and they look sweet!
Not only does the Honker have a smaller poll the blade is also thicker which should effect balance so depending on chopper or banger might sway ones preference.
Wow both are very nice. Personal preference but I like Conrad’s. The one he made with Gordy looked good, awesome wedge banger. But like you mention Honakers angle on the bottomdoes look better instead of the swoop. Lighting looks good as well 😉 Maybe a Honaker/ Schroeder axe for a 10k subscriber giveaway 🤔
Jeff...Out of curiosity I went on to Jonah's "site." Apparently you have to be on his Facebook list and when he lists an axe for sale he says "you need to have a payment plan ready because the axe will sell in ten seconds." Never knew there was such demand for hand forged axes but I guess there must be! Hopefully he doesn't get scammed like you were.
Conrad makes a sweet axe. Cool comparison.

Those are awesome. I love these guys making new axes off of older patterns. Whats the difference from a national and a rafter if not the weight?
National has longer bit, droops down farther
Oh i want a Honker axe
Oh there sick
Both are very nice, 👍
I love that handle on that rafter you made. I want a handle like that with a large palm kind of like a 3/4 of a ball
Ya there sick!
Those are all freaking awesome. Do these guys make small hand hatchet's a belt hatchet?
? Not sure
Awesome blades
Heck ya
I want one so bad
Soon buddy
@@jeffschroeder9089 I can't wait, buddy, I'm excited.

Ya that guy that ripped me was a bummer
I am in for a Jeff edition of a Honker for cracking wedges and being badass. The axe, not me, I am far from bad ass.
