  • First movie for my new documentary series about culture and martial traditions of Okinawa:
Okinawa - new World, old traditions.
Traditional Okinawan dances and festivals, night life and a lot of karatedo and kobudo. Demonstrations of the leading World known masters, history of different schools and various training methods. Everything you ever wanted to know about true Okinawan Martial Arts.
These documentaries are for true followers of Martial Arts.
    Part 1
    Kyudokan. One World.
Okinawan karatedo has become a part of the World Cultural heritage. All over the World millions of people practice karatedo spending a lot of time, money and applying enormous efforts to understand traditions of an alien culture and a foreign country.
What makes them to undergo such a long and difficult path?
Movie where the past meets the present and the present draws power from traditions.
Shorin-ryu Karatedo Kyudokan as a personification of the spirit and traditions of Okinawan karate.
This movie is a gift for all the followers of Okinawan traditional martial arts where every single moment is devoted to karatedo.

I am a student of Kyudokan in Argentina, apprentice to Diego Higa, son of Oscar Higa, grandmaster of the school.
I am beyond honored to see this documentary and the characters I wspent my entire life hearing about.
Rest in peace Pedro, whom I missed by only a few years to meet here.
Rest In peace Benito, Yuchoku and Yintatsu. I will work hard to be better.
I am honored to be a student and will forever carry on with the tradition and follow the neverending art of the path of the empty hand.
I am proud to have been chosen to take the school to New Zealand and create a branch for that side of the world.
Every day i hope that each Tsuki honors you, teachers now passed, every Seiza shows my utter respect and each Kata well performed and lesson well learned makes you proud.
I have no Japanese blood to speak of. But there is no day that goes by that I don't feel like part of the family.
    我が名誉を捧げます、師匠方

Anyway, I'm a Kyokushin practitioner (currently 4th kyu) but have high respects and appreciation to all systems of Okinawan Karate including Kyudokan.
I'll be visiting Okinawa this coming October and as a Karateka, I would like to explore the place of its birth and experience the culture and way of life in this fascinating island.
And despite my Kyokushin background, I also would like to experience traditional Okinawan Karate and this seems to be among the best of foreigner friendly. Osu!

Karate had been watered down in the west, it had lost its effectiveness and became commercialised and a sport as the olympics is going to do.
I'm glad to see Karate is still strong in Okinawa and Japan and I am blessed to be part of a strong dojo myself. OSU.

what he says from like 10:30 to 11:10 is very true. in the internal martial arts (in karate as well I guess) they focus heavily on developing the energy of the dan tien and having the entire body move as a single unit with the dan tien as the axis point and allowing the energy (qi/ki) to flow better.
