Being genetically dissimilar is good for the gene pool. When we are attracted to another's natural smell, it is because they are genetically dissimilar from our own genes.
I can see how being a twin would be a big part of your personality, because theres literally a clone of you walking around, but you need some individuality fr

I’m an identical twin and when I was a kid my mom always made sure to never dress us in the same clothing, made sure in primary schooling we had different classes, and encourage us to have separate hobbies from each other. Looking at this video makes me very glad my mom enforced us to be separate individuals rather than a codependent single unit.
I’m due with twins in April and thats my plan, I don’t want them to feel like a set, they just happen to be twins, that’s it. They are the own individuals which is what my husband and I want them to grow up knowing. Also side note I’m gonna be exhausted enough as it is with twins and my older daughter why would I add any possible confusion with me dressing them a like or anything like that, I just don’t get the appeal. Glad your mom didn’t treat you as a set and let you both be individuals.
i mean, genetically speaking, the distinction is meaningless right? they're basically clones of one another, so your aunt/uncle might as well be your own parent. man, twins are weird.

It's a fetish. It has to be. I'm no expert and have no qualification or authority to make this claim but there's something narcissistic about twins who want to be identical to their very core. There are incestuous undertones with these twins that makes me uncomfortable and it's hard to ignore. They aren't individuals. They see themselves as a single entity so there's no wrongdoing on their eyes. It'll be a fascinating psychology study.
As a fraternal twin I just want everyone to know that we love it when you ask if we are identical and talk to us like we are children and you should continue doing that.
as an identical twin i definitely agree. I also love it when you ask the exact minute I was born, and how I can tell myself from my sibling :) these are both things that I know and care about
Imagine someone breaking into these people's house and then just seeing 4 people who look identical, dressed identical and talking in unison with the exact same voice
They wake up and all scream in unison, then when the robber tries to run the door is locked and the twins start beating the shit out of the robber/robette in sync
Being an identical twin and having our parents force us to look and act exactly the same was awful. They thought it was cute I guess, but one day my twin snapped and cut her hair and dyed it. It sounds small, but it was a huge deal for us. Then she told me we weren't allowed to have the same friend groups anymore, which made me sad, but we were both so scared of not having any sort of real identity. She still dyes her hair and I'm not allowed to dye mine the same color, or she'll be incredibly upset. Forcing us to act the same really put a rift in our relationship :( Edit: ahhhh I didn't think anyone would see this I was just venting 😭. Fun Fact: In this video Eddy says "something feels twoff". "Twoff" is the correct pronounciation of the Turkish word "tuhaf". Which literally means "weird". What a "tuhaf" coincidence.
Right! They NEVER mention that possibility. I think the editors of the series cut the part where they explain they wanted opposite gender kids to be cousin-siblings who would date later in life and create a supertwin-kid.
Imagine the disappointment when they realized their children are not going to be identical in any world. There might be a resemblance, but it's practically impossible for them to have the same exact genes. These will be different people
The worst thing about this is that these people are going to want their children now to act like twins even though they aren’t. They’re going to force it on them since apparently everything in their lives revolves around twins and being a twin is SO great. I hope their children are different genders and look nothing alike to put in kink in this nonsense.
I am unable to listen to the phrase "Imagine growing up having a household of your parents, and an identical set of your parents, and a confusing *sibling-cousin* and the lines are all blurred" without cracking up
If I was a parent of identical twins, I would be so extremely anxious for the first like two years of their lives before they can fully internalize their own name, worrying that I was mixing them up and they couldn’t correct me, and then they would just end up getting switched in names by accident
UPDATE: they both had boys, privacy is getting uncomfortably hard for them, the dads feel very connected to their respective sons, and also they share a bank account for some reason.
It's gonna be real interesting in the coming decades when they inevitably do an AMA or something about how weird it all was growing up, or conversely how weird it was moving out and separating after thinking that was ordinary.
@@denied7616 the idea of swapping partners who look the same. I'm only guessing here but remember how they don't answer any questions about that. Also they met at a twin convention, I bet they knew what they were doing.
in my experience, identical twins have always either been super adamant about being exactly the same or desperate to prove they are not alike whatsoever! I've never actually met a psychologically normal twin, unless they were fraternal. i think being raised/percieved as identical twins just does something to your brain in your formative years where you're just on one end of the extreme or the other and there's very rarely a middle ground
the reason they arent psychologically normal is because they actually only have one half of their shared soul, so they are incomplete beings, and that has repercussions in their karmic cycle. its a curse put on people's bloodlines since time immemorial, which is why twins run in families. (this is a joke)
Yup, here I am. Me and my twin actually don't look very alike at all anymore, and people like, grill us about whether we're *really* identical twins or not lol. Like, we had Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome; we're identical.
Super late to the party, but I wonder if some twins act like this because they were raised as "twins" instead of "two children who happen to be twins". Like the parents who give their kids alliteration names, dress them up the same, and make their entire identity about being a twin.
i had a stepsister around the same age, 6 months or so older. our parents tried to hard to make us “twin-like” and i remember just starting to fully reject every aspect of it. there are other reasons that i have, of course. but to be made into a morph of another person??? that you’re already not even related to by anything other than some arbitrary clause/law around marriage & the “relationships” that come with that??? please.
i know people like this, they’re both 13 and share EVERYTHING. they aren’t allowed to have different outfits (one has to be purple one blue) , even their glasses are the same.

The twins that base their personalities around being a twin and orbiting each other makes me sad because what is one going to do if something happens to the other and they pass
I grew up with triplets where two of them were identical and one was not. So they started as two eggs and one of them split. The non-identical sister said she was so happy she didn't look like them so she could have her own personality and life, lol.
The moment the dude said: "biologically, they're both going to be siblings" already had me in absolute despair. I want to go back 5 minutes ago when I didn't know this was a thing
My mom is an identical twin and because of it I technically (genetically) have no first cousins. I have siblings, half siblings, one and a half cousins and second cousins.
In college I knew a pair of identical twins who were the same major, took all the same classes, had the same job, and always dressed exactly the same. They literally never went anywhere without each other, and it seemed very codependent. The weirdest part was once you got to know them, they actually had quite different personalities, which made their forced identical lifestyle even stranger. Imagine not being able to take a class, buy an outfit, or go to an event unless another person approves, all because they happen to look like you.
speaking as an identical twin, i think you hit the nail on them being codependent on eachother. my twin and i were both pretty codependent on eachother and i would get pretty depressed when we were apart for long periods of time because for most of our life we were there for each other, but we still have our own separate lives now. it sucks that some twins cant seem to pry themselves out of the hole of codependency, but having lived a similar life, i get it, and i can't really judge. but i just dont think its that healthy
As a kid with anxiety I always wished I had a twin I could do everything with. Even if we had different personalities we would still need to go to school together and stuff. Especially because I’m an only child so I had to do everything completely alone. So I can understand why they would want to do stuff together even if they have very different personalities. You don’t need to have the same personality to enjoy the same things. I don’t have a twin but throughout high school I never took a class unless I had a friend who also was taking that class. I once tried to take a cooking class that I was really interested in even though none of my friends were doing it but I was so overcome by anxiety that I ended up dropping the class and switching to business with my friends. I think a lot of people also will only pick classes that a friend picks so I don’t think it’s that different of a situation for the twins. It’s just like best friends picking the same classes so they can be together and you see that a lot.
More proof to me of why identical twins are creepy I hope I don’t have identical twins. If I do they’re gonna be forced to have different bedrooms and forced to dress differently. Well also celebrate birthdays a week apart. I don’t want that creepy identical twin bond to happen
@@I-hate-youtube797 No reason to be that crazy or upset about it. Twins get that way when they're treated that way, like they're a set, it's not something that just happens on its own. Most identical twins are just regular siblings who just happen to look the same. They're not creepy. Yes, they're sometimes close. That usually happens with siblings who are close in age, twins or not. Don't deprive your children of having a relationship with their sibling, because you're scared of a "creepy twin bond" because it's not a thing. Treat them like regular siblings and they'll be regular siblings. Because they ARE regular siblings, they just happen to share a birthday. They'll likely be interested in the same things, because that's what happens with siblings who are close in age. Are you going to be like "no you can't like Minecraft because your brother likes Minecraft pick something else"? Because that is PSYCHOTIC. When they're old enough to care how they're dressed, let them pick their own clothes. They might want to match sometimes, LET THEM IF THEY WANT, but they usually won't because being mistaken for the other will be extremely frustrating. They will WANT to be different people, because they ARE different people. You don't have to force it, or take precautions against "twinness" that's freaking neurotic. They might have a "matchy matchy" phase growing up, but that is just a phase. They will grow out of it. Don't try to force them out of it, because that will just make them want to be even more "same" just to spite you. Trying to force them to not match will just get you the twins from the Shining. Which you would DESERVE if you would raise your kids with a psycho amount of control like you are suggesting.
This feels like the human version of sibling syndrome in dogs, where littermates are raised together nonstop and can develop intense codependency, separation anxiety, dont bond with humans/other dogs, aggression, etc
Yeah, it’s super weird. I know exactly what you mean. Being so obsessed with your twin that it becomes your entire identity, and you lose out on having an actual personality
I'm most distressed about the fact that they said it was their dream to marry another set of twins. It really seems like you're forcing a pretty specific and unusual relationship dynamic by making that arbitrary trait the most important criteria. What if one couple doesn't get along as well as the other couple? If they break up will they all break up? More likely, will they all stay together even if some of them are unhappy just to avoid ruining their sibling's relationship? I'm seriously concerned that one of these people is eventually gonna find this whole atmosphere too stifling and end up having an affair or leaving or something.
I’m actually an identical twin with a brother who looks exactly like me, and a big struggle in my life has been trying to get people to see me as just me, not one piece of the set. I couldn’t even imagine the personal identity nightmare that living in that household would be.
This actually happens regardless of the fact their twins, if two siblings have children with another set of siblings their children would still be genetically closer to siblings then actual cousins.
Identical twins that are "too identical" weird me out as it is- but this? This is beyond creepy. They're all so codependent on one another & it's incredibly unhealthy.

My identical twin and I hated each other growing up. We actively tried to avoid hanging out with the same friends, never wore matching outfit, and got in fist fights a lot. Seeing twins just getting along is kind of weird for me. Seeing them like this is like seeing a different species.
As a fraternal twin, with a sister, the "we just look related" is so on point. Like yeah, of course we look similar, we're brother and sister. We're just also the same age so we look the same age.
For real though. People are always shocked when I say "oh yeah, he's my twin brother!" Like, yeah, he's the same age as me, we were in the same grade in school, celebrated the same birthday, yet no one notices until you say something 😂
Honestly, from a biological/ genetics standpoint this is super fascinating, Having two people be geneological cousins, but genetic siblings. Still a very weird situation, but also interesting.
Doc is talking out of his ass because he's been put on the spot. The baby's aren't gonna come out as identical twins, just from different mothers. The law of independent assortment still applies. Genes get shuffled aroud during the process of meiosis. The kids are still going to be genetically distinct from one another. Even identical twins don't have 100% identical genomes. Once the zygote divides into two embryos, gene expression and regulation diverges as epigenetic factors come into play.

Based on a TikTok they uploaded to their Instagram it seems like their kids will mix them up which is absolutely wild
When I was a kid I knew identical twins, one was sporty and outgoing and one was creative and more introverted. They looked the same back then but as they grew up their different lifestyles gradually changed not only their personalities but their physical appearances as well. My point being that from what I've seen, being this close to your twin is something you go out of your way and put effort into doing, its not "just what its like being a twin"
I think that "effort" lies much in how you're raised - what is expected of you by your parents, and if you're encouraged to be your own person at all, or not.
Yeah, when I was a kid, my older sister was friends with identical twins. They looked exactly the same as teenagers but their personalities were different enough that even kid me could tell the difference as soon as a conversation started. Their lives took very different paths, too, and it became increasingly easier to tell them apart

in response to the twin couples living together and "accidently touching the wrong one" my older sister and I looked VERY similar... like scarily so, and she and my brother-in-law just moved in with us while they search for house. my sister told me that he said he has to be careful when he hugs her from behind, because he has almost hugged me on multiple occasions... especially if I'm holding one of their kids and he mistakes me for my sister. I've been called "babe" on accident multiple times too because of how similar we look and we arent even twins! so YES they've definitely kissed, hugged, touched, the wrong person.. because not only will ONE person confuse their in-law for their spouse... the other person will probably assume whoever is grabbing them is their spouse and they'll go along with it... which makes me think they could get all teh way to the bedroom door before one of them realizes "holy crap you're not my spouse!"
At a glance its hard to tell identical twins apart. But if you know them its usually really easy to once you get more than glance. I have no i doubt they could make small mistakes.
FOR REAL
Nah, I'm pretty sure you're identical
Yup, i'm with @Ethan Hill on this one. Pretty sure you are identical
Yeah, I'm gonna have to go with @@Kotsknots this time because you're seeming kinda sus ngl
For real though. People are always shocked when I say "oh yeah, he's my twin brother!" Like, yeah, he's the same age as me, we were in the same grade in school, celebrated the same birthday, yet no one notices until you say something 😂
"These children, while they're technically cousins, they're biologically siblings."
*country music gets faster and louder*
This literally made me shed a tear from laughter lol
. . . This video just makes me confused
“And lovers by choice”
update on the pregnancies : Brittany had a baby girl and Briana is still waiting on to give birth. At least their kids will have separate birthdays lol
Edit: I was mistaken she gave birth to a baby boy. Also apparently they have both suffered from miscarriages in the past so everybody getting snarky in the comments let them be happy
@ludicmars Oh I can imagine it. I can clearly imagine both of them saying "Oh darn it, we wanted a shared birthday!" in perfect unison.
Do I like that I can imagine this? No. No, I do not.

My best bud is an identical twin. He and his brother are in their 30s and their personalities are so different I forget they're twins at all.
I think that "effort" lies much in how you're raised - what is expected of you by your parents, and if you're encouraged to be your own person at all, or not.
Hi Ihasnotomato, love your videos
Yeah, when I was a kid, my older sister was friends with identical twins. They looked exactly the same as teenagers but their personalities were different enough that even kid me could tell the difference as soon as a conversation started. Their lives took very different paths, too, and it became increasingly easier to tell them apart
@@tiagodecastro2929 That's awesome.
Why do people like that base their entire identity around the fact that their mothers gave birth to two people at once?
I'm guessing the mother was the one that started the weird obsession with them being identical.
@@proxyprone yeah kids don’t decide “let’s look and act exactly the same” on their own, that shit’s gotta come from somewhere. It already weirds me out when parents will dress twins the exact same and give identical hairstyles, like it’s just gonna lead to confusion and everyone constantly talking about the fact they’re twins. I feel like either the mom just made them look the same and they ended up believing all the twin stereotypes people at school feed them, or the mom was just as creepy as them with identical rooms, identical toys, etc.
@@RandomPerson-gt1jt Even if you have a kid that isn't a twin, give em some guidance, but let em make decisions like clothing and hair for themselves. Long as they don't look like a Mad Max villain.
@@proxyprone Exactly. I guess that’s why parents who dress twins the same freak me out so much, because they shouldn’t be forcing kids to wear the exact hair/clothes they want in the first place. I had a mom who always projected onto me and expected me to look/act just like her so I know firsthand how much it sucks. If you have twins and they really are at such a young age that it makes sense you pick out their clothes for them then you should still at least make them look different, like you should just treat them like normal siblings and let them have their own identities as early as possible.

🤣
I can’t really blame Eddy for being upset over the blanket statement of “Twins are inseparable, we do everything together” because last I checked, I don’t change clothes at the same time and in the same room as my twin sister since that’d just be weird
Edit: speaking of being a twin, since I’m shorter than my sister and being a guy, people tend to mistake my older sister and my twin for being the twins since they look the most similar (which I can’t fault them for that) and since me and my twin have similar sounding names and hers is also a guys name, people tend to get our names confused, even those who’ve known about us for years
The girls' personalities are literally just them being twins

@@-Teague- This. This isn't something you choose unless you're specifically raised into it.

Why do you think they married identical twins??
It’s spices up the bedroom a bit, dunnit
in response to the twin couples living together and "accidently touching the wrong one" my older sister and I looked VERY similar... like scarily so, and she and my brother-in-law just moved in with us while they search for house. my sister told me that he said he has to be careful when he hugs her from behind, because he has almost hugged me on multiple occasions... especially if I'm holding one of their kids and he mistakes me for my sister.
But its highly unbelievable that it would be for more than a few seconds, anymore than your husband might realize it after he hugs your sister.
They haven't accidently done anything. They're in a quadruple.
