They speak of "civilizing" the Silures. Have to wonder if that's the tribe that got all their males murdered by the Romans three times running. Also wonder if it's one of the murders of said Silures that got cut short by Boudicca's Revolt. Pretty easy to "civilize" a culture when 1/3 to 1/2 the population is dead. The women have to get on with living and raising what's left of the kids.
This was called"pacification" AKA winning the hearts and minds of the surviving natives-if any. Very few, if any, nice peaceful empires have been recorded in history. Rome, like all the others was certainly not one of them.
Celtic women could be just as fierce in battle as any man. Especially when they were provoked as Boudicca was. I hope she got the ones that did that to her daughters.

27:53 Professionals painting people in the past like they were idiots always bugs me. Of course they didn't just dump carcasses in a ditch across the street from them. Because why would they. Would you? People in the past had the exact same needs, the same sensibilities as us for the large part. The past was much more like a modern rural life off the grid than most people want to think. We aren't better than our ancestors. That's hubris.
Funny you think that wr have places to put our city refuse now.
They didn't 😊
Why didn't Mick like the Romans ???????????? He's great , though !
Mick was a noted British "MEDIEVALIST". That was his life-long love and specialty and he stuck to it. Over the course of the TIME TEAM programs there were several snarky encounters between the "Medievalists" and the "Romanists". All in fun , of course...

Why are Phil's shorts SO short?!" Because like Sir Tony he dresses for the ladies. :-)

I would imagine it's for comfort while digging. It's sometimes hard and painful to squat or bend over in jean shorts without pinching or pulling on some pretty delicate bits. Also, when the legs of the shorts extend too close to the knee the fabric tends to get caught on the thighs in the front.
Does Sir Tony dress for the ladies? Sorry I either missed that one or his attempts were an utter failure. Giggle. Phil on the other hand......
Best Wishes
because he gives not 2 shits what you think! He has a phd, nothing to prove!
because he has great legs and he knows it. but also it is more comfortable for male anatomy while digging.
Tony: thats because these areas have never been touched or digged
Me: or geophysed
On Google Maps you can see the Roman walls and how big the area is inside, then switch to Street view where you can see how tall the walls are still.
I must say, the saxons doesn't strike me of an advancement of life in britain...
I wonder if anyone has run an ancient fingerprint theough a modern system and found a match. They have to repeat eventually.
That would be a Hella cold case 😊
Know I see were Trump got his hand gestures and voice inflection from.

Apparently he suffers from a form of *-Alzheimer's-* *Asperger's Syndrome* which indicates considerable courage to appear on TV.
