HOW TO APPLY FOR subclass 491 - NSW State Nomination
Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491) - New South Wales
This video runs through New South Wales nomination criteria that you must know to get new ideas and pick the suitable stream for you. In this video, I also will outline the steps on how to apply for a Subclass 491 visa - state of NSW nomination.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO UNDERSTAND:
The NSW RDA office or the Regional Development Australia office will assist the NSW Central Treasury to manage the Subclass 491 nomination from February 2021.
That there are 12 participating RDAs to Subclass 491 nomination, and that you can approach any of the 12 depending on your situation.
Each of these RDA offices will accept and assess the SC 491 nomination application and will determine the occupation for their respective regions.

The nomination criteria are standard across all regions.
NSW NOMINATION STREAMS:
There are three streams for NSW nomination. You will need to choose only one.
1.Living and working in regional NSW;
2. recently completed study in regional NSW; or
3. living and working outside of regional NSW.
Each stream has specific criteria
STREAM 3 is for those who are living and working outside of regional NSW
Stream 3 has 3 categories:
a. Job offer in regional NSW
b. At least five years of skilled employment experience (offshore Applicants)
c. Family ties in regional NSW
STEPS TO SEEK NSW Nomination - RDA and Subclass 491 Visa
1.Get an assessment to see if you passed the threshold requirements of the Department of Home Affairs
2. submit an Expression of Interest for NSW Nomination - RDA
Check the updated information in RDA website
3. Wait for the invitation for nomination
4. Apply for Subclass 491 through the Doha
5. Visa outcome
MY TIPS:
1. If you are interested in seeking a NSW nomination, monitor the NSW RDA participating websites to find out the exact procedure for making an application for RDA nomination and to be updated on the region’s occupation list.
2. If you have an eligible relative living in the regional NSW, seek their sponsorship
3. If you are holding a Subclass 485 and have been considering NSW for residency and nomination, it’s time to make a move and check the RDAs.
4. If you have done your EOI, keep on improving your score.
5. If you have not done anything yet, and you think that you will qualify in any of the streams, the most important thing is to get started.
