i traveled 3 1/2 hours too place in mabank texas on the outskirts of dallas called b4 bbq and boba. let me tell yall, that place was worth every bit of the drive. the atmosphere was unique because it was in the back of a feed store. the owners were so friendly and walked around the tables checking on everybody seeing if they were ok. the food was absolutely amazing! they put such a unique twist on there menu and even served boba teas!. please if anybody is from the dallas area and you see this comment. go check them out!

Cattleack is super slept on. It’s also very difficult to get because of their hours. But truly spectacular BBQ. Will say the pork rib at Terry Black’s is still #1 in the world for me.
I love Cattleack BBQ! I live in Farmers Branch, so they are right down the street. Their cornbread is addictive. I wish I had the recipe. Hope you got a chance to try their crack cake dessert. So good!

There are soo many variables that go into forming an accurate, consistent opinion on the "best" bbq in DFW. I have been to all 3 of these and I personally found Hutchens BBQ to be the best of the three. In fact, my order of the best first to last would be the order in which they were presented in this video.

I'm a fan of Cattleack over the other 2 as well. Hutchins is quite consistent for me but sacrifices some flavor at times but the cooks are generally good. I still need to try Goldees.
The pink/red parts of the pulled pork is usually best part, especially if it has some bark in there but you gotta have a good vinegar bbq sauce w pulled pork IMO...
So a couple of things: - The beacon, from most places, is your winner. You use the same rub for brisket for your beef ribs. - you went to Hutchins in Frisco; should have gone to McKinney - Cattleack is a good spot but there are far better spots than where you went to.
One thing you should understand and state...it could be the day or time of the day you got the meat! Which can make your judgement null and void! Towards the end of the day things are drying out or you could get brisket sliced off a chunk that has set out a few minutes and has started to dry. My point is the person in front of you could get the best bbq in the world and you get served some dried out mediocre stuff. I try to watch them cutting my brisket and if it’s the last part of a brisket I tell them to pull out a fresh piece. Also I look at my tray before I pay and be sure it looks moist and the color is right, if not I tell them to cut it from a new fresh slab. BBQ is too expensive nowadays and I don’t mind telling them to get me the freshest juiciest cuts!

Thanks for the reviews. At a minimum, TX, Kansas City, Memphis, and North Carolina have storied barbecue traditions and unique characteristics that make them stand out to those that love them. Having lived in TX for 3 years and visited a few more times for business over the following years, I don’t get what makes theirs special to folks who aren’t from there. The state seems to be carrying water for the whole west that doesn’t want to come to the midwest or east to see how it’s done here.
