I'm still confused on how to get the ground plane. In the first part you show drawing down from the front of the bug and creating a T with the bottom of the first leg. Isn't this assuming that the first leg is the same distance forward as the front of the bug? if the leg was a little farther forward from the start of the bug, how would you go about getting the ground plane?
If might be easier for you to set up 2 vanishing points, so you can trace the lines on the ground plane back to a VP. After some practice, you wont need the VP, if you mark the ground plane with a line.
