    Just paired these with my Garmin 800, both work fine. You might have to turn the hub/crank a few times for the sensors to come "alive" and be discoverable, who knows. Then go to Bike Settings > Bike Profiles > no. > ANT + Speed/Cadence. Here you have to select "Bike Sensors: Yes" and then "Sensor Details". From there, select sensor type "Speed and Cadence" (NOT "spd/cadence"). This will make the computer auto-detect both individual Speed and Cadence sensors. Simples!

    Will the cadence sensor give the total number of pedal turns during a ride? Great vid!

    Would you recommend putting a couple of additional nylon cable ties around both the sensors? The reason I say that is because they don't look that secure with a rubber band (wear and tear could cause the bands to get worn) and also so that it's harder to steal for someone?

    Thanks for this - my Garmin 1030 was working fine until I fitted the speed sensor that came with it. After fitting that, the speed reading is WAY off, like 4x the speed it should be. There doesnt seem to be any calibration or settings in the sensors setup menu on the 1030. Any suggestions?
    I have it on the front hub, which is an SP dynamo hub. Might that be the problem?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I was given a speed and cadence sensor as a present. I have a Garmin 310XT triathlon watch, which is listed as compatible. Any idea how to pair this to the 310xt? I've been on the forum, but to no avail.

    Thanks for the video. I had installed my cadence, HRM and speed sensors, they show that they connected to the device but I can't find the cadence nor the HR on my screen when I ride. Do you know what might be the issue ?

      What model Garmin Edge do you have ? As a starter for 10 do you have your data screens configured to display cadence and HR - you have to select these data fields in the units settings if you want them to be shown ?

    Hi - can you confirm that these sensors, being ANT + can be paired with none garmin devices? As long as ANT + and able to add speed sensor separately from cadence sensors these should be fine right? Thanks

      CycloFeed Ubox I've had them paired with a Bryton Rider 60 but couldn't get them to work with the Mio 505. The old Garmin GSC10 combined speed/cadence sensor worked with both the Bryton and the Mio.

      @cyclofeedubox8332 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for that. According to the ant website these sensors work with the Mio 105 which I have and its a case of "if the unit can link individual sensors they will work" I'll feedback if I get around to the upgrade! Thanks

    Hi there. I'm finding it hard to pair the cadence sensor to my garmin 500 unit. The lights blink when I rotate the crank. I go into bike settings and choose spd/cadence sensor. Enter a unique id, rescan but nothing happens. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

    • @VELOGPSTHEINNERTUBE
      @VELOGPSTHEINNERTUBE  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mazen Naim Hi Mazen - below the rescan option there is another option called 'Sensor Details'. There should be 4 options listed at the bottom when you select this. I believe 'Spd/Cad Sensor' is for combined speed and cadence sensors such as the older Garmin GSC10 sensor. The other options are for individual 'Spd Sensor', 'Cad Sensor' and 'Spd and Cad sensor'. If you are scanning for 'Spd/Cad Sensor' I don't think it will pick up the separate cadence sensor as it's looking for a combined unit so try the other options. Out of interest where did you get the unique code for your cadence sensor from if you havn't managed to pair the device ? Hope the above is of use - let us know how you get along.

    • @mazennaim5534
      @mazennaim5534 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Tx for the response.
      I ticked the Cad sensor option and hit rescan but nothing happens when I spin the pedals apart from a couple of light flashes. As for the ID, I clicked on the ID and I entered a unique number. I changed the batteries as well but no dice yet.

    • @VELOGPSTHEINNERTUBE
      @VELOGPSTHEINNERTUBE  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mazen Naim Try scanning without entering the ID. I'm not sure what number you're entering (i've only discovered my sensors ID numbers once they are paired - i don't recall seeing them provided as part of the literature included but i may be wrong). If you are entering an incorrect ID then the 500 may not pick up your cadence sensor as its scanning for a sensor which isn't there. If this doesn't work it's probably time to give the Garmin helpdesk a call who are normally pretty good. The 500 is listed as compatible with the new cadence sensor at www.thisisant.com/directory/bike-cadence-sensor1/ but I tried mine last week and similarly couldn't get it to pair - I put it down to perhaps running very old firmware on my 500 (it's relegated to more of a test unit now). Be sure to post back and let us know if you get it sorted.

      To get the new individual cadence and speed sensors to work after my GSC-10 died I had to choose Menu > Settings > Bike Settings > (your bike) > ANT + Spd/Cad > "Sensor Details" (at the bottom) and then uncheck the "Spd/Cad Sensor" option (which is what my GSC-10 used) by selecting one of the other three options -- ultimately you want the fourth option "Speed and Cadence" sensor option at the bottom. When I choose the fourth option at first it only detected the new cadence sensor and so I checked "Cadence only", spun the crank until it beeped and then checked "Speed only" and spun the wheel until it beeped and detected the new speed sensor and then after that I was able to select the fourth option "Speed and Cadence" and after spinning the crank and wheel I heard two beeps and all is good. Hope that helps.

      Some newer sensors that work for both speed and cadence will switch modes when removing/replacing the battery. When replacing the battery, a green light will flash (for speed) and when removing and replacing the battery, a red light will flash (cadence mode)

    Is lag normal on sensors like this? I noticed that the data is lagging compared to the physical action

    • @ChannelofRichPierik
      @ChannelofRichPierik 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, some lag is normal. The display unit will average demonstrated values. This allows you to read the display. Otherwise it would change too quickly for you to get a sense of the value...

    • @VELOGPSTHEINNERTUBE
      @VELOGPSTHEINNERTUBE  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't have a 705 so can't try it myself, Older units like the 500 needed you to pair the sensors separately - on the 500 there was an option for 'speed /cadence' (if i recall correctly) - this should not be used as it would mean that the head unit is looking for a combined speed and cadence sensor (like gamins older gsc10) rather than individual sensors.
      Having just checked out Garmins website (see link) the 705 does not appear to be listed as a compatible device with these sensors - whether this means they won't work I don't know ?
      buy.garmin.com/en-GB/GB/shop-by-accesories/fitness-sensors/bike-speed-sensor-and-cadence-sensor/prod146897.html
      DC Rainmaker is also a great source of info - scroll down this article to see the compatibility info
      www.dcrainmaker.com/2014/05/garmins-spd-cad-magnetless-sensors.html
      Reading it he describe the issue with selecting sensor search options a little better than me but the principle is correct that on some of the edge units there is an option to search for a combined speed/cadence sensor and if you select that option then it won't find the separate sensors. DC's article also appears to suggest separate sensors may not be compatible with the 705 - most likely due to age as Garmin produced a combined sensor back in the day rather than separates.
      Probably worth contacting Garmins Helpdesk if you are still struggling.
      Hope you get it working

    The installation location of the Cadence sensor is indicated very conditionally. There is no clear understanding of where this place is: in the middle of the crankset, or shifted to some area.

      thanks, would the cadence sensor also be more suitable to just indoor use?. Im new to these devices. i dont plan to train indoors but i have just acquired a Garmin Edge. Thanks.

    • @VELOGPSTHEINNERTUBE
      @VELOGPSTHEINNERTUBE  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cadence sensor is relevant to both indoor and outdoor use. It basically measures crank revolutions and coupled with a compatible Garmin Edge will allow you to monitor this. Most of us have a set cadence at which we cycle most comfortably - I'm more of a spinner than a grinder !! It really depends how serious you are about your training and monitoring data whether you want to use one - personally its one sensor i don't bother with. Also check whether its compatible with your Garmin Edge if you are thinking of getting one as it may not work with some of the more basic or older devices (e.g. basic edge touring and edge 20).

    • @halffastcycling
      @halffastcycling 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Speed data with a sensor is far more accurate than with GPS, especially in areas where GPS reception is less than perfect. Without the sensor, you may see wild fluctuations in the recorded speed. If you don't really mind about accuracy of data recording, the sensor is not essential and in most circumstances GPS speed will be sufficient.

    I don't understand how does this speed sensor work if you don't input the wheel size on the computer....

    • @saintmac
      @saintmac 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess at first it defaults to some standard wheel size. But as soon as you take it for a spin outside, the Edge unit will compute the wheel size from GPS distance and number of revolutions.
