    Thanks man this is insanely helpful for noobs like me. I'm wanting to start practicing with brushes and move up to airbrushing but I cannot for the life of me judge colours using labels. Skin is the big hurdle I want to tackle and a month ago I emailed Vallejo to ask what was up with fairy flesh stock. They managed to find one place in spain with a few boxes left so suffice to say, this is amazing thank you. All that aside it's always fantastic to watch you work as well, beautiful artistry.

    So you're saying to paint a realistic fleshtone: I first have to paint the red meaty colours of the muscles beneath, then add a layer of ochre fat, and then a paler layer of dermis to seal it all down. Literally working in translucency through layering. Love this process.

    I created my own fairy flesh set. Used a picture of the color palette and replocated it myself by mixing paints. Way way cheaper! And, i mever run out. All you need is your primary and secondary colors, white, and black.

    • @Groundeffected
      @Groundeffected  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yea but I cannot be arsed to go through that. And I can just buy a bottle of the exact same colour everytime. Mixing colours is not for me. As a professional artist for over 20 years even in tattooing I cannot be arsed messing about mixing up colours like that, sure mixing the odd one here and there is fine but you won’t catch me mixing a whole set just to save a few bucks. If they make it I’m gonna use it, it makes my life easier and not to mention any beginner trying to follow along would be so overwhelmed by mixing their own skins and wonder why they look funny because they didn’t mix enough yellow or they put too much white. It’s just not a good way to show beginners.

      So you use that for the skin, then highlight? No primer? I thought about using a tan spray paint, but wasn't sure it would work.

    • @lubovgeorgeable
      @lubovgeorgeable หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@willowtree5267 I use it for textured needing parts but it is way too rough for skin. I dont bother with primer for this, Ive been doing it for a couple of years and no problems. It sticks. I mainly use it for the bases and the very bottom of all of my models just to give them that finished look. Also for metal parts that needs some rusty textures. Works great but be careful it comes out of the can like a bat out of hell

    Do you not find that you get blobby pigment stuck in your airbrush when you mix it directly in there? Also, the same for earthshade/nuln oil etc, do they clog up for you too?

    As a replacement for Orcish dermis, try mixing Kimera's Orange and Magenta.
