      Anything you canned, they recommend you use in 1 year! Most people who canned food don’t use all of them until in Two years. As far has I know has long has it is seal, it is good! Any food that is canned after 2 years will start to lose colour but is still good. Before using canned foods, you should first make sure it is seal properly, then smell it after opening it, making sure their is no mold, e.t.c.
      You should use all canned foods with in 1 year of making it, that what they recommend!

      The FDA and industries are LIARS. Most canned food can be stored for 10 years or more. I inherited my grandparents house and was canned milk, chili, ham n potato soup, grape jelly, and apple sauce that is dated 2011 and I'm still opening it and its completely safe and delicious! When it comes to factory canned food, I am still opening Hunt's tomato sauce that has a date of 2013 and its still making great homemade spaghetti sauce!

    I do this also as it gives the milk an evaporated flavor I love. Have only canned mine for an extra 5-8 minutes and will try canning it for 15 minutes as I can see the milk is much browner, which adds flavor. It's like browning sugar for extra flavor. Thank you for the video. Take care and all the best in the coming times.

    Nice video of canning milk. This is not evaporated milk, however. Evaporated milk has been somewhat condensed or evaporated, it is thicker than straight milk.

      Agreed, I'm not sure why people think canning it makes it "evaporated" that's a different process.

      @@countrieboyz2009 milk does get thicker,the longer you presser canned it! That’s why it does behaves like evaporated milk! I don’t know why, or how, but some of the milk does get evaporated!

    Be careful when you use vinegar when wiping the rims of your jars, before placing the lids on. If you do get even a little of the vinegar in your milk, the milk will separate and form curds. Same as if you are making cheese. I also use vinegar to wipe nearly all of the rims of my jars when caning but with milk, I only use a cloth/paper moistened with water. Milk is not so sticky or oily and I've had no problems with jars that haven't sealed.

    • @LifestyleGardener
      @LifestyleGardener  ปีที่แล้ว

      I know that, that’s why I wring the paper with the vinegar before doing that! I never had any problems so far! Thank you for your concern though! And I begin doing this now 4-5 years now!🙂

    Make sure you wipe the top of the jars with a clean paper towel with vinegar before putting the lids on.

    The result is more carmelization to the milk as opposed to evaporating the milk. If one wishes for stored evaporated milk, reduce milk to 50% volume on simmering stove top in an open heavy bottom pan or double boiler then one may can it and it would be canned evaporated milk. Please note, experts do not recommend home canning of milk. If you are inexperienced please can many other things first and study up.

      If you live in anywhere in North America, you can get them from big box stores or some hardware store, just look in the kitchen utensils area! Some people get them online, but it’s more expensive online!
