I recently worked delivering to places like this and I didn't realise before I started just how many of these huge buildings there are across the country storing frozen food. This cuts the need to go under the low railway bridge mentioned in the video. However there was a cockup in the land surveying and a bridge over the river or railway, can't remember which, has had to be changed. The ground under one of the bridge support piers was found to be too soft to use so they have had to make the bridge longer and move the pier further away from the far pier. This in turn meant the precast bridge span had to be redesigned and cast to go over the longer gap. So the opening of the new bypass, taking the A52 from Boston to the A1 without going through Grantham or under the low bridge has been delayed but should be open in 2025. A lot of cold stores are already automated, I guess the equipment must be built with that in mind, but I bet it's baron for a human to work in these freezers. Not a job I would care for lol. Ironically this was built by a Swiss company who specialize in these pallet systems. Don't quote me on this but a cost of 130m is banding about my head?
@@thetruckerseye I would put money on it being the same company that built p&g's in purfleet (google maps it) it looks as big as easton,.When i say blot on the landscape i didnt mean ugly, more so that it doesn't fit in stuck out there amongst lincolnshires scenery,.Colsterworth look brilliant tho,.
Very impressive. Let's hope staff press the correct buttons, otherwise we will have 4 weeks only frozen carrots and no peas in Sainsbury's/ Asda !😅😅
I was speaking to the girl who is in charge of the racking system! She said there is no way they can have problems with it as there is several systems rather than just 1!
It's the Borg
Assimilate!
Won't be to long, and the truckers will be Assimilated 🆘🇬🇧
I Retired about a year ago after 50 years of HGV driving, I am not missing it, To many Clowns on the road now, I remember going with my farther who was a Driver, The A1 was just single track roads then. The M62 was just starting to be built, No M180 0r M18, M25, and a lot of other Motorways. Just the North and South Circular to get around London. Over the years i have seen many development's some good some bad. Its still basically not changed, Spoken to like a Dog and treat like an Animal, Poor working conditions and pay. Good luck to all you HGV drivers out there i have done my shift.
I am 68, and been driving since 1977.. Used to ' enjoy ' the building of the M25, in its sectional jigsaw puzzle stages... Still have all the old AA Members Handbooks which showed the yearly updated road map of the UK... From the Preston Bypass in 1960, right up to the last Handbook issued in 2002/2003... Don't know why, but things seemed to be much easier for us, back when the world was young...!
At first, I thought you said "Coal-Store". That place could store a lot of coal!
@@phillwainewright4221 either my accent or my voice being ruined through a bout of illness last week 🤣. Would be funny if it was Europes most energy efficient coal stores 🤣🤣🤣
Powered by renewables? Hope they have plenty of backup.
We need more safe truck parking in the UK pulled up at Woodall M1 southbound at 3.30 pm and the place is completely rammed. In a crappy layby now 🙄
Ah mate. It's getting like Germany or France now. You need to be parking up by 4pm just to get parked. It's dysmal! I will make a video about truck parking in the new year.
@thetruckerseye I tramp out all week so I try to park at a motorway services or truck stop 2 times a week for a shower and some food with the meal voucher and have a mooch around. I've got a truck with all the mod cons for cooking etc but it's just good for the mind to get out the cab for an hour or so.
Don’t forget Abby Titmus 😂😂
It'll be the local infrastructure, roads, power and other services that lets the place down ........ a typical British problem of imposing the new on the unimproved old
Merging back on to the A1 can be tricky as it's a tight bend on both sides. I did film it but forgot to use it 🤣
@@thetruckerseye Yes, fairly tight bends on/off the A1... Seem to recall it was even worse, even tighter bends.... Don't mention the famous Colsterworth roundabout, or the notorious Black Cat roundabout.....
The Borg Collective ?
Ha ha ha.... Don't worry... Janeway on Voyager will sort it out...!
@richardruff8712 🤣🤣🤣 she will be too late arriving !! Leave it to Jean-Luc, he has history lol
@@justincase6645 Aahh... You mean ' Locutus of Borg '... Curious how a video about a large freezer building near Colsterworth morphs into the Borg collective..? ' Interesting '.. As Mr Spock would say...
@richardruff8712 lol indeed ! And yes that's what I meant ,👍
That’s the new cold store because the other one burnt down
Did it? Really? I know there was a whole in thr middle before they started building this but thought they'd just knocked something down?
Let’s hope there’s not a power cut or breakdown in the mechanics or it will be a lot of mouldy food.
All of these types of food storage have back up systems.
Will it be chemical free food 🤔
Haha
Improve access, don't be daft, that would involve public money. Now if it was overseas I'm sure the Government would cough up. After all it's not Government money just taxpayers. Glad I found your site, liked and subscribed.
They'll only improve the access when problems start occuring, perish the thought they'd be proactive! 🤣. Appreciate you subscribing, thank you. Got any ideas for new vids? Haha... just joking
I'm very surprised you giving Maggie Thatcher house room, you being from Liverpool 😂😂. Very interesting video, thanks.
@@conversemackem8653 i was going to use the spitting image puppet of her in the pic but I chickened out 🤣 (theres another joke in that if you know your music?)
@thetruckerseye yes 🤣

U missed the new Wendy’s just down at Stretton

@@prof2bobajob.klonded5 yes, did you miss the end of the video 🤣🤣🤣
@@prof2bobajob.klonded5 yes... did you miss the end of the video? 🤣🤣
No I googled it about 9month ago so didn't have to watch till end👍
another blot on the landscape just like the ones off the m62 at stanley jcn 30 why do they have to stand out, why do they have to be painted white?
Do you really think so? I think they look quite cool. Most large warehouses are painted similar colours to the sky (hence the greys and light blues) so that they merge in with the skyline as best as possible. If they were pink then I'd have a problem 😂
Light colours reflect the sun's heat and keep running costs down. A mirror finish would work even better.
@@rogerbarton1790 Yes, white paint is best.... Just ask the Greeks...
Its Area 53, housing space craft and UFOs
Very interesting, no doubt, I know the A1 and it’s good to hear about what’s just off to the sides. But…at 7.56 you stick in a sort of emoji. Lots of channellers, nowadays, think they are enhancing their vids by doing this. They are not. It’s a fad, an unnecessary, unoriginal way to underline a point, be funny. Perhaps you could consider this in future?
Great road surfaces…….NOT…..
with increased heavy traffic they can only get worse!
Argh god! Get to the point man! Talk click bait, if I wanted the low down of Lincolnshire and local tourist attractions i'd contact the local tourist board! 😂
Your version of this video would be 'what is this cube thing?'. 'It's a cold store!'. End of video. Deary me.
@thetruckerseye No my version of this video would be "get a look at huge cold storage of the A1 as well as checking out local tourist information and truck stops"
They way it ain't click bait! 🤦🤦
@@thetruckerseye thanks for taking the time to respond through boss. Appreciate it. And also for responding in a decent manner. You're a gent. 👍
Keep up the good work trucking.
I know what it is, it's blooming ugly is what it is!
I think it looks quite futuristic! But each to their own!!!! Thanks for getting involved though. Much appreciated!
@@thetruckerseye I just thought it looked out of place, looming ominously on the horizon.
At a guess id say a very large building
it's a space station haha
That's a lot of peas 🫛 make you relise how much the goverment waist and what could be done with it
The peas go elsewhere now. This is a multi product warehouse. McCains have a lot of stuff here
