- In this video I explain how to draft the pattern for the Louis Vuitton-inspired scuba dress, the first dress in my festive season mini series.
You will see me make a mini-version of the pattern which you can recreate at home to scale.
If you don't have a bodice block to begin with, create your own with the help of this blog post tutorial (unsponsored): inthefolds.com/blog/2016/2/22...
To draft the pattern you will need:
- Pencil/Sharpie
- Pattern master and measuring tape
- Craft paper (baking sheet roll also works)
- Paper Scissors
To sew the dress you will need:
- 50 cm of scuba for the top part of the dress
- 1.5 meters of scuba for the bottom part of the dress in whatever colour you fancy
- 1 meter of printed silk (or other drapey fabric) for the sleeves
- A plastic (or metal) sweater zipper
- Matching thread for each colour of fabric you chose
- 2.5 meters of bias tape for the inside seams

Thank you for this pattern drafting lesson! I picked up sewing this past year and am still learning. Your channel has been an inspiration to me!
Thank you so much Yadira, hearing this makes me really happy ☺️🥰 keep it going 💪
That's so interesting about the sleeves- I have never thought about or realised that sleeves can have a front and back, but you can definitely see the difference in the final fit! 😍 Really enjoying this way of explaining how you make your patterns- it really helps me understand the reasons behind the changes/ choices you make, which I have struggled with a lot in other people's videos!
Oh I‘m glad this was educational! I think this way of explaining my pattern works for a lot of people which is awesome ☺️ Definitely always mark the front of the sleeve by nipping the seam allowance, I definitely have sewn sleeves in the wrong way in the past because I switched up the sides haha
Merhaba yaptiğınız minyatür çizimleri ayrıntili alt yazı yaparmısiniz rica ediyorum türkiyeden izliyorum ilginize ve cevabıniza teşekkürler ederim ❤❤❤
I have a question how do you turn these mini pattern into big pattern so that you can cut the fabric according to it ?
I would scale it up, this is a demonstration done on 1:4 scale. I would redo the pattern to my actual size.
