Hey, there's this abandoned villa in Coney Island called Haw Par Beach Villa. I went there once to find it but it was deep inside vegetation and all I could find was a foundation for some building (made of wood I think) with a small little step below it. Around the area, I also found a stone or metal box labelled "for display only" (it was about 10m inside the forested area), however, there are some pictures of this villa on Google Maps from some years ago. Not sure what the villa was for but you should absolutely check it out
The circular thing on Pulau Ubin is the PAPA UNIFORM navigation aid for aircraft. There’s another one on St. John’s Island called SINJON, and a third one on Pulau Tekong called TEKONG. They are used as radio beacons for aircraft landing at Paya Lebar Airbase and Changi Airport (and other airplanes overflying Singapore). The tall SingTel antenna along Upper East Coast Road at Siglap also used to be a radio beacon for airplanes. Details such as their exact geographical location, radio frequencies, and elevation are public info and can be found on the CAAS website. In fact, there are others similar to those 3 elsewhere in Singapore that aren’t published by CAAS, but I’ll leave those for you to find yourself.
Came down to see if anyone else already mentioned this, but yes! Papa Uniform is a VOR (very high frequency omni-directional range) facility used by aircraft for navigation. You can tell by the shape and the structure that it is a VOR facility as well - if you look at satellite images of other airports overseas, you’ll see similar looking structures around the aerodrome. TEKONG VOR is also visible on Google Maps - just look for the same structure on Pulau Tekong Kechil.
7:34 - that is a VOR/DME (VOR distance measuring equipment), basically a radio ground station which helps pilots of aircraft flying in/out of sg for navigation purposes. There are actually 2 more in singapore - 1 on tekong island on the eastern part of the island and another on Lazarus island in the south, you can look up on google earth yourself and you will see these structures at these locations too
@@usernameunknown-j3zit is a VOR. NDBs look like towers and they don’t use NDBs in this part of the world anymore, the remaining NDB facilities can only be mostly found in the US.
1:22 Ironically, this was also a Singtel radio transmission station. They used to have a sign for it that you can see from the main road. They was also a tall radio tower that you can see in the middle of the field. IIRC there used to also be a big singtel logo that you can see on the top of the grey building you pointed out in your video (somehow that was removed already).
2:10 likely yes; the area was known as Boh Sua Tian before it got cleared for the SLE/CTE/TPE junction, and was named after a Royal Air Force transmitter nearby (无线电). though I’m not sure if the tower that got demolished was still the original one. 5:30 it’s a stormwater retention pond built by the JTC and completed in 2022. an unusual aspect of it is that it uses no pumps but instead relies on percolation into the ground, thanks to that bit of Jurong Island being made of sand.
Sengkang building was singtel, before sengkang expanded westward and generated some criticism of road renamings. Even for a short period of time, after disuse, a eating shop was opened at the entrance.
I served in the RSAF and had the opportunity to visit Pulau Pawai to witness live firing exercises featuring F-15 and F-16 fighter jets. It’s a beautiful island, and the surrounding waters are so clear that you can see marine life beneath the surface, including baby sharks
Being part of the pawai crew during NS, it was indeed an eye opening experience during live firing. But definitely not fun when a pilot miss and something catches fire 😂

With reference to the sites in Kranji and Yio Chu Kang, they could be the sites of the Singtel Civil Radio Transmitting Station in Kranji and it's sister, Radio Receiving Station in Yio Chu Kang. Both were built by the British pre war with accompanying quarters for the staff. The Yio Chu Kang station was left on its original site and the orange bungalow building was the Engineer in charge quarters. The Kranji Station used be in Jurong where the Pioneer MRT station area is now together with a SBC station. My dad used to the Engineer in charge and was involved in the planning for the move to Kranji for a while. I spent my early years in the quarters with my family.
7:44 this object is a VOR (a navigational aid for pilots). It is used to help pilots land at Paya Lebar AB. Notice how it also falls in line with the Paya Lebar runway. There are similar structures around airbases and there is one in Tekong Kexchil also to help pilots land at Changi Airport.

Very cool, would love to see this as a series, though who knows how far it can go until you've covered everything possible lol. My first time back to SG was just this past October, finally getting to take my wife with me, excited to show her where my entire childhood was and to experience all of the new Singapore since then together (to actually see the amount of change in that short span of time was absolutely insane to me). This trip was such a long time coming for us that I had been saving places in Google Maps to revisit out of nostalgia, or researching to check out for about 5 years in advance. In doing so, I accidentally became very, very familiar with Singapore's geography, far more than I ever would have when I was still a kid living there, and I started laughing to myself when you'd show the next location, and I could find it manually in Google maps in just seconds haha. Strangely fun. There was a lot of old 90s Singapore that I missed and was long gone on that visit, but thank you for reminding me that you can rewind the Google maps clock!
The challenge is to find the possible locations of our air defence missile silos. People often say rumors that we have missile silos stationed on Singapore's islands to shoot down incoming air threats if needed. However, judging by the amount of air interceptions performed by out fighter jets, its likely that our air defence SAM missiles are put into deep storage and will hardly be deployed against civilian threats unless as a last resort. We are a small island, dont think that will help witb our threat landscape
