Thank you I figured my setup was good enough already for higher level fitness. Running 42/28 with a 10-36 11 speed. Covers my range nicely, almost never have to shift out of the big ring
At 13:30 you mentioned European pro level if those guys joined. Euro racing is all messed up right now. I'm living in frnace now and its a mess. Nothing is going on over here with covid.
haha...exactly the same with me...alot of the guys i ride with use disk brakes and it gives ME an advantage...they slow them down just enough that I can beat them up the climbs
Hey man a question that is tormenting me. I have a trek 1.5 aluminum that with a few tweeks is now weighing about 8.5 kg. I was thinking about changing bike and I love in a very steep hilly island. So now everything is coming on discs... Is anyway possible that a 9 kg carbon Emonda costing €2600 is better climber than my actual bike?
@@PhiyackYuh thanks for responding! Harley used to recommend the trek Domane ALR5 with Shimano 105 rim brake as best entry level roadie. They don't do it with rim brake anymore so was wondering if he had a new bike in mind. I've noticed he's done a few vids since on the specialised Allez elite 105 and I'm guessing that would be his pick! Comes in at Aus $2200 which doesn't seem like a total rip... 👍
Hey durianrider. If you are going to do a +1hr ride, is it better to hold in going pee (like if you feel you have to go 1/2 hr before your ride) and then go right before your ride or try and go as much as you can before you ride ? Seems like I always get 1/2 through my ride and have to go.
Getting in to cycling and better yet, getting in to the vegan lifestyle. Currently 104kg so worried about breaking parts left and right. Any recommendations for heavy riders?
I was 120kg and dropped down to 95 kg in a couple months. I had similar concerns about breaking stuff and I concur with Harley about stick with metals. I personally went with Ti frame and aluminum rims. Still want to drop a few more kilos to help improve my climbing.

95% of the WT is on disc so it balances out. 100% of WT riders WOULD chose one of my bikes IF they had the choice as 100% of WT riders CARE about performance BUT also have to follow what the sponsors say..
I think there were pros ridding a pragma. Remember last year's (2020) romain Bardet's white eddy merckx frame? (Eddy Merckx Stockeu69) that really really looked like a pragma to me. but I could be dead wrong. maybe Harley could answer it ;) It was a simple and beautiful lightweight climbing bike. the prettiest of the bunch.

Great vid dr, magic hour light, cadence and rim brakes
Dan Potter is such a king
I got dropped by bunch of pros today bc im a noob who has been riding for 6 months. I think I need lighter pedals and shoes. Any recommendations?
hey durianrider on your next ride vid can you point out when you switch from using your small ring to big ring and vice versa ...
I stay in the 34 the entire way up Nortons

Durian what gearing do you prefer for rolling hills fast paced group ride?
34-50 in the front and 11-32 in the back
46/30 or 50/34 is fine.
46/30 covers most things unless you have to motorpace at 80kph behind the team car.
