I recycled almost everything on my bike. Exhaust included. It was cheaper for me to just make or modify everything. I only spent money on the absolute must haves. It my cost down and I still had a lot of fun aquireing new skills. Great job on the bike. Ill keep watching to the end.
I can't thank you enough for making these budget bobber build videos. I just got my hands on a 95 virago 250 and I am planning to do a lot of very similar modifications. Just found your channel this morning and I've been binge watching the whole build.
Also fitted on a pair of ebay slash exhaust, but was wondering if you came across the same issue of the breather tube getting seared by the new exhaust (back)? If so, did you re align the tube or leave it as is? I ended up exhaust wrapping both the pipe and the breather hose. Seems to be better than before but still can smell the hose if I have riden for the day.
Hey mate, i put these same ones on my xv250, they sound great and look pretty good wrapped up. Very satisfying deleting the old exhaust mixer from underneath. If you end up taking them off again to wrap might be worth replacing the copper gaskets, my old ones were pretty mangled after a few swaps. Out of interest were did you end up setting the idle screw? Ive got the same rejet, think I'm on 4 turns out as opposed to the factory 2 and a half now
Niether will probably help with top end bogging down. The air fuel screw does exactly that change your air fuel ratio and that will be the one to work on. The idle screw raises or lowers your idle. Set and forget after youve adjusted the air fuel I have videos on all these
Dear Iridetas, I just bought and received those exact pipes. Did you fit any gasket between the cylinder head and the tip of the exhaust? Because mine just don´t fit the cylinder head... And exhaust comes out of a crack between the pipe tip and the cylinder head - even tightened. Thank you in advance for your help...
i got the same pipes but i ran into an issue, just behind the rear exhaust theres a hose going into the crank case which touches the pipe, or comes very very close if ziptied to the frame and it heats up and you can smell rubber after a ride. Did you find this too? did you re-route the hose or get a shielded hose?
Thats awesome my build came to a dead end. Unfortunately bike bandit sent me spark plugs that I ordered for the bike and they were to long and crashed the piston head. Maybe one day ill bring it back to life but for now rest in peace little red devil
I found out a little while ago, but still struggle with the fact that they put a fake rear pipe on the little xv. Quick question about the pipes you put on. As far as you can tell, do they start off around 1" where they exit the heads, then just dump into the 1.5" pipe for the rest of the way, or is that thick pipe just a sleeve over a pea shooter internal?
I rode over from burnie not bad put me xvs650a on lol 35.84 best lams class so far 2nd of to another 650zx i think it was lil street fighter looking bike
Hey mate, your videos have been great. I just installed the pods, exhaust and the jets myself. Dropped it off into Yamaha and they rang me saying the set up is not tuneable? I’m actually quite pissed off because obviously it is tuneable as you have done it. What should I do now? I have seen the videos of you tuning after each mod, but not confident doing myself. They recommended going to 2 hours north were there a dyno but that’s not happening.
Is the bike rideable? Does it break up at any point through the rev range? If so what is it doing. I wouldnt pay for a dealer or dyno tune for this bike personally. The mods dont increase performance and imo doesnt warrant a dyno tune. If you put jets in and adjusted the air screw mine was fine. Each bike is different so very hard to diagnose or tune without seeing it.
So I turn the mixture screw clockwise as far as it goes, then anticlock wise 1 3/4 turns and then that’s factory setting? Is the a factory setting for the idle screw on the other side?
Your videos are very good and very informative, I also recently got a 09 Vstar 250 and im looking into making some upgrades to it I will be definitely using your videos for advice..I would like to ask you, I'm not really wanting to wrap the pipes if i get them, but would like to avoid them changing color i noticed yours started getting a bit yellow .. Did they turn blue after a while? And also I am planning to put a tachometer on mine as well, I'm having a bit of hard time deciding between the 2& half inch bikers choice tach or baron tach.. Would you happen to know if one is more responsive than the other? Thanks For your videos.. Keep riding man...
No not blue but yellow yes. The leaner you have it the more blue it would get. Not sure on tach mate sorry. Dont really think the xv250 needs one myself so havent looked into it! Cheers! 👍👍
Hi taz, I’ve got myself an xv125 project. Last exhaust got cracks and blowing like f***, I’ve got myself the same system but is the tuning the same for both? I know a lot of the 125 is based off the 250 they’re almost identical ?
hi I need help please I live in mount gambier and need help on front and back sprockets and chain and both wheels to buy for my Yamaha xv virago 250cc please can you help thanks
Hey mate. Would these be okay to start in a residential neighbourhood at 5am. I really want them but don't wanna piss off next door, Have the debaffle mod and have put a pole down my E and smashed some of the plates and its loud but not to much. TIA
Asking the wrong person there mate, a) don't give a shit about neighbours b) live in a rural area bbuuuutttt imo with a baffle in they are not obnoxious. I, in that circumstance wouldn't run them without a baffle (reduces performance without one anyway) as it makes the more annoying!
@@iRidetas Hey , I have a question. I have a 2009 V-Star 250 which is pretty much the same as the Virago 250. I bought the same pipes off Ebay and haven't changed anything else on the bike except the pipes and re-gearing to the 17/38. The pipes browned up on the top of both of the pipes. I haven't noticed a difference in power and I still get good gas mileage. Should I re-jet or no ?
Uuuh it sounds awesome :D I was thinking about changing the exhaust on the one I have now :P, since it is in a really bad shape XD (rusty crusty nasty looking, with some patched holes XD ) but also since the stock exhaust isn’t that interesting when it comes to style :/

Ended up getting the exhaust system and stuck new gaskets in. They sound amazing! Thanks iride, love the budget bobber series :D
No worries! 👍👍

Thanks for the vlog dude. Teaching me so much about making changes on my own bike. Props to you.
Glad you enjoyed mate!
Nice to see another Tassie bloke.
Looks like you're in a nice scenic part of the state.
Thanks mate! Im in Sheffield area, you?

Pretty sure i re-routed the breather hose! Was a while ago and cant check sorry as sold the bike
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing Inspired me to mod my 2013 Yamaha VStar 250. Cheers.
No worries

Not sure mate i lean drop tuned it so didnt count the turns as such! Sorry.
I just bought the same pipes only the shorty ones can't wait to install in my 250 vstar
Enjoy that look and sound good and are pretty easy to install!
Would you recommend an oil cooler for the 250 vstar
Ive never used one so dont have an opinion, dont reckon its neccessary and eould be pretty obvious. I like thd look of aircooled
Do you need to use different exhaust gaskets
I just used what came in the kit!
@@iRidetas I didnt get any do you know where i could get some
Try ebay and if in Australia definitely try trooper lous yamaha
Great sound I've been looking at those eBay pipes for a while now but haven't been able to justify it yet.
They are not bad for the price! If you can i would reccomend them!
The struts too, but I was worried about the safety of it.
th-cam.com/video/XDT2QiUal1A/w-d-xo.html try this if you like me struugled to justify the expense of straight pipes
Thats your choice mate!
You only live once mate , go ahead and buy them
@iridetas What difference does tuning the idle screw vs the throttle screw have?
Im having issues with the bike bogging at around 60 - 65 mph
Niether will probably help with top end bogging down. The air fuel screw does exactly that change your air fuel ratio and that will be the one to work on. The idle screw raises or lowers your idle. Set and forget after youve adjusted the air fuel

@@iRidetas right on! Thanks Chris!
@Virago_XV good luck, if its bogging down at top end could be a partially blocked main or its to lean
Looking Coolio mate. I like the fact that the fake pipe is now real.
Tcrs fella ✊
Haha i really dont know what yamaha was thinking with that. But looks and sounds better now. Thanks!

No gasket just inserted and tightened. Mine worked well.no exhaust leaks
@@iRidetas Did some of the tip of the exhaust get in the cylinder head hole? Or did it just lean against the hole?
Was completely in the port in the head, in the hole!
Those pipes look excellent 👌 a proper looking bike. I can trust a man with coffee next to his tools ☕
Haha thank you 😂
Di you use new flange gaskets ???
Hey mate just ordered these pipes and have the same pods, I need to rejet, would I just buy the same size jets as in your previous video.
Thanks heaps
I would or it could be to rich if you went bigger!
Ohh yeah sounds good when nearly over the limit (like the skull & helmet effect). haha. Cheers iRide
Yeah im pretty happy with them bang for buck!!! 😀

Nice work bruv sounds great beautiful country side will get to tassie one day btw I weld like a 3 year old lol 👍🇦🇺
Lol 😂😂 i reckon i do too. Thanks for the kind words. Im happy with how it sounds!!

The bikes also putting out 18v what could that be. Thanks
Regulator
I put a new regulator and battery in. Started it. And it won’t idle without choke, the front exhaust is extremely hot and the rear is cold.
So I turn the mixture screw clockwise as far as it goes, then anticlock wise 1 3/4 turns and then that’s factory setting? Is the a factory setting for the idle screw on the other side?
Crusing to powersurge?
Id like to put my 1100 on the dyno for sure
Can I take out the inside of the cat converter to make an H pipe with the stock exhaust?
You might need to study the path of the rear cylinder stock exhaust mate!
@@iRidetas well I’ll take it with the mechanic I really want to see what’s inside and if it rumbles lower, I have the baffles removed but that’s it.
Did you have a problem with the rear Exaust burning through the hose running past and under it to the engine?
Nope
@@iRidetas do you know what that hose it for mate ?
And can it be deleted?
I think it’s to run overflow tank fuel back into the engine?

See video you commented on!
Hey iride, I noticed you removed the gaskets and I didn't see you put them or new ones back in. Is that alright?
if i put the pipes on my virago 250 will i need to rejet the carb
yes if you have intake mods and should get away with the air fuel or PMS screw if you are just changing pipes!
Pipes sound good
Thanks mate, not quite as satisfying as building my own like you but they are cool!
