The best interpretation I have ever heard of these; avec tendresse, but always keeping the "tres allant" quality which is essential to the french wit, depth and color.
Oh Sir, it was much more than just enjoying it. I felt that you displayed a perfect understanding of the works and revealed them to us through fine playing, superbly judged tempi, and fully-explored contrasting sections. I wish I had been in the audience!
Sorry about late response - it's been crazy (still is). I really appreciate your kind words, and I'm glad you enjoyed this piece by Poulenc, who in my opinion is hugely underrated!
Playing of warmth and wit, however having said this the second piece is rather too fast for my taste. You're playing a fine instrument with a rich sonority, is it a Steinway or maybe a Yamaha?.
I am glad you enjoyed it! Copied and pasted from one of my comments below: Poulenc clearly gives us 138 per half note, which is, to say the least, impractical. I am aware of other recordings that are done much slower and I respect their decision. I simply decided to take the spirit, not the number. This was recorded quite a few years ago, so maybe if I were to record this again, maybe I will look into a slower tempo. But yes, it is a head-scratcher...I would love to discuss this with Maestro Poulenc if I could go back in time. The instrument is a New York Steinway D. It is an interesting instrument, but it does have a nice tone.

+Younggun Kim well that's a really risky one...but anyways you sure pull it off, it's pretty clean and it sounds really animated. I like your interpretation on this piece 😁

@@pianistyounggun My pleasure, thank you for your response.
I am late to this, but it’s worth checking out Poulenc’s own recording, it’s really fast
why do you play the second novelette extremely fast?.-.

Listen to Poulenc play it and this is positively sedate (though I think it sounds better slower): th-cam.com/video/X3IO41WZECM/w-d-xo.html
