  • The BBC is reporting on a collective action claim taken against the world's biggest PC games distributor Steam. Valve (owner of Steam) might be risking a record fine of £636M for market dominance, breaching UK competition law for the last six years (at least).

    UK here, steam didn't rip me off. They didn't force me to buy a game. I could have gone to epic lol, or ubisoft. I also use cd key websites. So if she wins the lawsuit, then she can give my share of the compensation back to steam for their excellent service they have provided, though I know that won't happen because realistically none of us ever see that money.
    also, steam allows devs to sell their games on other platforms cheaper, but they say the steam keys can't be cheaper than what is on the steam platform. so price should be same if buying on a cd key website, which we know isn't always the case.
