I used to be like a perfectionist too, and it has been so liberating snapping out of that.
I stopped focussing on the 1 or 2 % on standardized tests and grades and all that.. and I ended up writing one of my college applications on wanting to fail as many times as I could.
Thanks so much for all your advice David.

I never thought of accepting the fact that I didn't have time for an assignment; I always thought that teachers would be angry at that. I'll try that the next time I am just too stressed and can't complete everything.

My thought was that to be able to apply and be admitted to an Ivy League school you had to be a perfect student academically. Thank you for the insight and reality about that very often wrong image.

This helps so much, and is very refreshing to hear! I will definitely share this with my classmates as well. Especially junior year, we were too into becoming a letter grade that sometimes we forgot to take care of ourselves. We'll have to work hard while remembering to focus on our passions as well senior year ^_^

I don't usually come across videos that would actually help! they seem a bit a pretentious all the time, but this one.. thanks man! you're great!

Great advice! I once used to think you had to be a perfectionist to get into Ivies.

I love the message. I agree, colleges want to see authentic people, not perfect robots.

1:30 Yes, many professors, even teachers in High School, are open to this. It is a good point, but also one that should be relied on infrequently of course: only when you need it, when it is really necessary. This should be kept in mind, as mistakes can be made either way, and you do not want to abuse a privilege that is extended to you.

3:30 True. Just as the greatest trees are the ones that grow in the forest, along, and in competition with, other trees, not rather the ones that grow in the middle of a sunny field.

hey, David thanks a lot for the video. it was so relieving to hear this...
I just have two more years to complete school and frankly, I do not have much of achievements to show (academically or otherwise) and since schools here in India don't have many clubs or things like that i don't even see any possibility to prove myself in the field of talent or in extra-curricular...so can I get some advise on that
