Did you find this video useful? Let me know in a comment, so I know whether to plan more paint mixing tutorials.
In the meantime, don't forget to give the Bee-eater a go: th-cam.com/video/euNvakHlbqs/w-d-xo.html

Could you do more colour mixing pls, I have to have a colour mixing book next to me as I’m still learning which colours mix together. Another problem I have is seeing the way you do, I seen a couple of shades of brown but you see brown yellow blue and purple, lol I don’t see that until you say it then a get that “oh yeah” moment and I can see what you mean. (Not just you, all artists)

@@ItsOnlyMeAgain Hi Suzanne, I completely understand what you mean. It's learning as you go how to perceive colours and a rough idea on the mixes you will need to achieve the target colour. I can certainly add your suggestion to my list of possible TH-cam videos and you know I will do my best to keep it as clear as possible. After all, I like to keep things simple mainly for myself, no arty jargon! LOL Paul 🎨

The colour swatches are great. I have 'accummulated' various tubes and pans so this will really make them so much clearer to see. Thankyou.

Another fab video Paul! I’m currently swatching my D.S paints but I’m adding pigment-L/F and Transparency too. Big job! I also wanted to say thank you so much for sharing so much of your technique and time. I’ve recently fallen into pet portraits and I’m still learning on the job and your wisdom on fur etc has really been invaluable to be! I’m slowly working my way through all your videos. Between commissions I relax watching your videos and admire what you create so much..thank you 🙏🏻

I would add Transparency/Opaqueness as well as level of staining for each swatch label. That way you know if you want to layer a colour or cover an area. Plus the Pigment Nos. That way you can compare brands more easily.

Wow, Paul. This is a really great video! So many valuable ideas and suggestions. I'm gong to start making the color collection strips for my watercolors today! I like to use Daniel Smith watercolors as I live in Washington state, USA, which is home to the Daniel Smith company and their paints are lovely.

Great video, really great tips. I make a map of my paints already I have a, W&N tin and stick the map inside the lid but the colour swatch keys are fabulous way to record and compare colours. Very good information about how to use them also thanks for sharing. I'll do this this weekend.
