I could tell 30 seconds in the foster ‘mom’ is someone that takes kids in just to cash a check and treats it like a full time job. Insanity. She berated him so much. At the end she was smirking and threatening to kick him out.
This breaks my heart 💙 their is nothing wrong with preparing a young man for life outside the home. Making him pay those type of bills is unfair. She should of made him pay one utility pill not $400 per mouth. That is down right greedy and unfair.
Judge Lake hugely dropped the ball here. that little boy deserved some compassion and she tried to humiliate him in court while he had so much restraint
After that point it was clear she wasn’t really being genuine about her priorities and trying to be a good mom. That was completely unnecessary and was said with the intent of causing harm
As a foster parent she should've prepared him to move out way before he became 18. Being that he wasn't, now she treated him as a tenant/husband. Paying most of the bills and then some. Whatever er was on the judges mind I still don't know. And that lecture on life after 18 was Bogus. 😢
My heart breaks for this young man (1st case) because most of his paycheck goes to his foster mother. My niece lives with me. She's in her early 30s -- rents in Chicago are VERY HIGH. She used to pay $1,800 rent. She pays me $400 per month which includes all utilities, free food and Wi-Fi. She's thankful, grateful and appreciates everything I do for her. I put her on my car insurance. She uses my 2024 vehicle whenever she needs to run errands. I allow her to take my vehicle to her job every Saturday. If I have plans for a given Saturday, I drive her to work. The young 18 year old needs to move out on his own, get a roommate, split the security deposit 50/50, rent and utilities.
She gets a check PER child! Idk how Arizona pays but if he was paying for ALL of that, where was the money going cause she HAS to be getting at minimum $1500…is she trying to be a stay at home mom living off an 18yr old?!?
Why didn't she get fans. In 100+ degree weather. The defendant should have made those children were safe and in 100+ degrees heat. No fans. No air conditioner. That is endangering the lives of the other children . Surely if she is getting government assistance. She should qualify for assistance to make sure those children are safe.
I thought the same thing about fans. Plus if she could not afford foster children, why do it. Especially special needs. I heard Arizona was hot. I hope he can afford to move out one day. ❤
Sorry I disagree with Judge Lake on the first case. That foster mom claimed she couldn't fix the air because she had to fix a van. but that boy said HE paid for the van, the utilities AND $700 rent!!!!!!! That woman is collecting GOOD money fostering those other 3 children and even extra for the disabled child!!!!!!!!!! Cant just fall for fake tears and a sob story talking about she couldnt have kids.... She didn't adopt those kids did she???? You PAY to adopt, you GET paid to foster
That's not what he said. He helped her buy groceries ONE time and he even said it was once. He pays her $400 in rent. He said the new apartment would cost $700. The mother fixed the van to transport the special needs child to and from appointments. He clearly works in the heat and said that. He worked himself up because he was already hot. had he sat down and drunk some cold water he could have cooled down some. He worked himself up and made himself even hotter. It is not her fault that he could get what he wanted. He could have got a fan until the air conditioner was fixed. He was being selfish. I am going to agree to disagree with you on this one. And I respect your opinion though.
If she had 4 Foster children she got paid . Why did she keep him in her home.if he was terrible. He has been in her care since age 4 years. He sounds like he has asthma as well as severe anxiety.
@@nothembajozi2862and she decided he would have to pay for all their collective expenses as a caretaker, have him with a full time job for the family yet also not bother covering one thing, fixing an AC, after choosing to foster 4 children.
I think judge lake misunderstood what he was asking for, and I think if he wasn’t so young & so angry he could’ve better prepared for court to state the case in an better way of what he was asking her for. But as soon as she started those crocodile tears and tearing him down in that court room idk why the judge didn’t see thru her! And at the end how she switched up when she had gotten her way, bc she knew what she done did to this young man, she took all his money & left him without any money to go get another place! Coming to court was probably his last resort & this was sad. I wish she would’ve understood what he was asking for to help him so she could rule in his favor but foster mom kept jumping in working him up & u could tell he was losing his train of thought each time she interrupted him. Makes me 😡 u know she is getting money for those foster kids & she’s leaning on this young man to keep her a float! Idk why judge lake just let her sit here & condone her actions!
She called the first case so wrong. That woman was making bank on those kids, and when he started working, she was taking his check disguised as making him pay bills

When it's 90 degrees in AZ it feels like 110 -- "a cash cow" is what he called his foster mother. What an ungrateful brat. She fostered him for 14 years and this is how he thanks her. Sad. 😢
I felt for the mom until she started speaking condescending about him and speaking about his mom and her drug problem. That was just uncalled for... No wonder the kid hates her.
I will never understand how parents can talk like that with their own kids. Teach how to get ready to be out on 18 is a good thing but talking like they are disposable and need to leave the house just because they are 18 is absurd to me! I learned to be independent when I was still a little girl but I lived with my mother, shared expenses, and even covered some home renovation until very adult age. In my culture, we dont leave our parents for anything, mostly to study or get married but we are more than welcome to stay if the house or land is big enough or needed, or are just too attached. We have love between kids and parents that stays forever. Thank God I am not from USA! Sad that this is my second time of disappointment with the judge but is ok, we do mistakes. She is better with family issues.
Awesome mother does not have a connection with her son she is using him yes and the others too although he spoke to her very ugly and shouldn’t have he’s not lying if he is already giving you $400 a month plus paying utilities how much more do you want
This young man can still receive support from DFCS they can pay for college funds or apartments. Reach out to the system they still help youth who are adulting.

I love Judge Lauren but she got this wrong on the first case. My heart went out to the 18 year old. I shall keep him in my prayers. I live in Britain now but I originally came from Nigeria in my late teens to study Law back in the early 1980s and lived with my lovely British Guardian Ad Lidem (RIP), whom I later called dad in the end as he was like a dad to me. The system in Britain is soooooo different to America. WOW! I wanted to give that young American man a hug, you could tell he was worked up and the court room was his last resort. Fostered since the age of 4 and that is the way she speaks to him at the end. THAT was the real woman we saw at the n=end not the one who cried. I am in my 60s I don't have kids and I feel for her but to speak to a young man like that since he has been with you since the age of 4 tell me she does not (ALLEGEDLY) throw the 'mum is a drug addict' in his face at least once a year (and I am being kind). I know nothing about the American process but here in Britain turning 18 does not mean you can now take care of yourself. There is a more sensitive approach: After 18 you are given some level of support to get unto your feet as an adult - work, education etc till the age of 25. Most move on at 18 but if you need extra help and support you are supported!!!! There is sadly no bond between this 'mum' and child/young adult. Why is that? I FELT his frustration! I so wanted him to be catapulted to the UK, where I could take him to our Social Services where he would be 'HEARD'. He is already working and she already takes so much out of him - including $400 PLUS. If you have a special needs child and your van has broken down - In this country - she would have been advised to get a cab/taxi - van. Have that put on a Tab and ensure the receipt is sent to the Local Authority. Also let the Local Authority help pay for the van - again keep the receipt. Generally a LOT of money is paid for special needs - BUT - certain organisations are set aside that the Local authority can have a contract with and recommend to foster parents. So again that helps her expense. Also I don't understand about this van business - here in the UK we have what we call 'Transport' that does the Hospital Appointments to and fro. In other words - the Hospital knows when you have tour appointment and an ambulance is set to pick you up and drop you off at home. Any special vans - are also factored into the foster parents' expense anyway - including if this breaks down. It sounds as though this mum is struggling because she is not paid enough and getting this poor kid (matters not whether he is 18) to carry the brunt of her responsibilities. It seems so unfair. Generally a Social Worker in Britain would carry out visits to check on expenses, the needs of a child etc because the PRIORITY is the the child (even those over 18) - not the mum. I can tell you right now - having no air conditioning and not even a fan would be a cause for concern as to a break down in expenses when a Social Worker visits because the welfare of the person being fostered is important. ALL the kids in the house! 18 months or 18 year olds. I LOVE the British system - it appears this mum is struggling - whereas over here - they do not wait till the child is 18 years old - a different Team for Young Adults 18 years old to 25 years old would have gradually been introduced into his life so he begins to get the support on getting a job, education, moving out etc! So all this business about air conditions and rent - would not be a surprise to the Local Council - all this would have been picked up and if the environment was deemed as t@ xic for the child - they would have provided support in moving him out to help him in his adult life and journey. Clearly, things are very different in America - so I love the Judge but she worked with what she had. Here in the UK - the first question would have been - where is the Social Worker that dealt with him from age 4 to 18 and clearly he needs additional support with the Team that deal with 18 year olds to 25 year olds. That poor kid was so worked up. Because he said he works so much he has no more money and the money he makes is going to a foster mum!!!!! If this were his natural mum and she took his money - then that is different - what they do is there business but for a FOSTER KID - here in the UK we deem those kids - until the age of 25 as being under the responsibility of the Local Council, hence they scrutiny for becoming a Foster mum is strict - because you are technically still representing the Local Authority/Government and any errors will fall back on the Local Government and its reputation - so you Social services ALWAYS makes sure that these parents are top notch and if they are struggling they better let them know so. Here in the UK - even though when you turn 18 - you become an adult and should be supported by Adult Social Services - when it comes to foster kids etc especially a case like this our Children Service ranges from age 0 to 25. (With 18 to 25 year old - put under a different Team called young adults but they are still the responsibility of the Children's Services. If this young man were in Britain I would have phoned the Council, immediately and asked them to please remove him from that house and help support home with getting his own place. If I do that - Social services would be at her door asking why she did not inform them about the van, the air conditioning and they would have looked at her expenses etc. I feel so frustrated for that young man and I am in tears. All I can do as a woman in my 60s and a woman of prayer is to pray for him, and pray for trauma and healing. I am still shocked that a broken van for a SPECIAL NEEDS KID was not reported to the Council leaving a mum to choose between repairing it and not providing air conditioning or even just a £5 hand held fan for those in her care!! Or a standing fan for a little more. I love Judge Lauren but I realise her judgment is based on what the Social care system provided her with, so she had to treat him like an adult! In my Country Britain he is the Local Authority's responsibility and I can tell you right now the way she spoke with that boy at the end - after the ruling - would have raised a red flag and home inspections would have been put in place. More and more I realise the system in Britain is so much better and kinder and despite the problems we have here - Britain is brilliant. This sounded horrific! then you have your Health system. brits need to stop complaining!
The judge was wrong about this young man having to pay for his living expenses. Judge Luaren Lake always sides with females over males most of the time, and that's biased. 😮 The foster mom was a bully and was very negative regarding this young man's mother's past. She took advantage of a child who needed room and board. A vehicle is not more important than air conditioning, especially if he is paying for services that are not being rendered. The police need to prosecute her for negligence and for not reporting an unfit home to child services immediately.
He’s 18. He should be out n living on his own. Instead of moaning about the lady that looked after him since he was 4 years old. He’s ungrateful.. He’s not Happy with the living situation….Just MOVE. End of discussion. MOVE….
But the moment she started charging him rent and utilities, it turned into a somewhat tenant/landlord relationship and she should have fixed the AC Unit.
He’s lucky she’s allowing him to stay. She could get another foster kid who needs a home and he can go out to the real world. He’s trying to take advantage of her kindness. Grow up.
Naw SHE is using HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She stopped getting a check when he turned 18. She Took his cash out that he should have gotten when he aged out. That would have set him up in an apartment. And is taking the majority of his paycheck so he can NEVER save and move
I think that for the first time in a long time. I think that you are very wrong. I believe this young man. I believe he paid for a lot of things. I believe she saw everything up in his face about his mother and his ways are because of her attitude. I feel bad that you gave him that talk. Welcome to the real world. He is a forsrer child. But the moment she started charging him rent and utilities, it turned into a somewhat tenant/landlord relationship and she should have fixed the AC Unit.
SOME foster parents take them in and only want the money that comes with him🤨
Don’t you stop getting foster money when the kids turn 18? How could she e using him for the money?
@@christinecarter9623didn’t you hear him say he pays rent? She don’t love them she love the money
@@christinecarter9623no
He’s lucky she’s allowing him to stay. She could get another foster kid who needs a home and he can go out to the real world. He’s trying to take advantage of her kindness. Grow up.
She's using him for money 🤨she seems like that's her M O she's not doing it out of love🤨
If he feels used then get out. He's lucky most foster parents put the kids out as soon as they turn 18. If you don't like where you live, leave!
@@MsSredding those are some mean foster parents #1 and #2 kids need help past 18😘
@@MsSredding and foster kids are given a STIPEND to move out with. SHE TOOK IT!!!! SO how shall he move????? She is using kids as cash cows period!

Ppl talk money for adoption but u really not making much money especially with special need kids.. u got more money going out then coming in.
work 2 jobs then
I think that for the first time in a long time. I think that you are very wrong. I believe this young man. I believe he paid for a lot of things. I believe she saw everything up in his face about his mother and his ways are because of her attitude. I feel bad that you gave him that talk. Welcome to the real world. He is a forsrer child. She's had him since he's 4 years old and she depended on him. He's angry and worked up frustrated because I believe I'm working that hard paying all that money. Is really to me like she just gives a s***Pay her back for all she did to him.I'm disappointed
I did not use the word after Just gives
The second case was a waste of time
1st case, in my opinion, can't have kids because it looks like this one used all to money to get transformed into a "woman". Hahaha.
