Congrats on 14.8K subs!
Thanks! And once again, congrats on 5K!
What a great New Year’s 2023 movie 🍿
Thanks for mentioning Ikeno’s modernist score. Of the many Japanese composers I listen to, his music is the most influenced by Bartok and other mid 20th century euro composers. Only Takemitsu might be more daring and innovative in my opinion. Ikeno’s concert works also show a penchant for low brass writing as is on display in Spook warfare.
I love this movie too. It’s such an unusual genre mashup and in some ways foreshadows The Exorcist.
I haven't seen this one, but I do remember reading some where that the antagonists where going to be Dracula, the Frankenstein Monster, The Wolfman and the Mummy.
I love this film, I would say I prefer this over the others
This film probably deserved a longer video. But I appreciate your brevity generally speaking.
i've only ever heard good things about Miike's remake
Thank you! Enjoyed this review a lot =) I'll be interested if you ever decide to review Miike's Great Yokai War. It is a lot gorier and darker than these films (as you'd expect) but the effects are terrific, and it uses the idea of tsukumogami in an interesting/creepy modern way.
I'll be sure to check it out eventually! Especially since that sequel is on the way.
@TitanGoji you sold me on these movies! Damn you killing my wallet! And I see you closing in on 15K keep up the good work big guy
Watch all the ads please!
out of all the films Takashi Miike has made, only a handful are good (some being great)... Miike's Yokai film is just plain awful
