Wow this is great! Im 14 and am coming back to piano after so long. I am learning rachmaninoffs prelude c sharp minor. Any advice for getting the right sound/petaling and for learning/playing the faat parts?

I think it just shows her vast knowledge of the Composer (and of course, the piano in general). I think, once you have a decent amount of knowledge of the piano and composer, you start to see the score more like "shapes" than single notes. By which I mean, fast (staggered) arpeggios, scales, etc. just become "ok, staggered arpeggio c#minor, 3 times, descending, starting from c#3 with pinky - Because that is something that's very easy to read and if done regularly by the composer, something he "would" do. However, there may be exceptions to these rules and if the composer does something he wouldn't normally do, you can see that even Tiffany kind of crashes at these points. I might be totally wrong here, but since I've started (really) playing about 1,5 years ago I just approach new pieces like that and usually this works out really well.
i totally agree with the fact that to improve your sight reading skills, you need just to sight read, it's a very tedious process, but i can ensure that i have improved my sight reading a lot since then. It's not as good as Tiffany's, but I feel proud of myself, because i can get pieces faster than before
I'm neither classical trained musician nor a musician at all, but I enjoy watching your vlogs and livestreams, and to see you create the most beautiful magic in the world - Music.... Cheering for you always..... ❤️❤️❤️
my thoughts when practising a new piece " dammit" "dammit" " off course I messed up a c major scale" "what key are we in again?" "dammit" "crushed note something or another with a flat and accidental, dunno play a squished chord, anything 3 notes!" "I need to hear what this passage sounds like" - opens youtube hears a recording by a 10 year old kid quits for the day
Tiffany, I'm 39 years old and I'm playing piano for 3 months now at the music conservatory because of you. You motivated me to be a classical pianist. You, Alice Sara, and Yeol Eum are my idols. And Mozart is my heart's favorite music. Thank you so much.
After a stressful day teaching Piano, Tiffany's video definitely is calling the day off. Also inspire me, to keep reading different repertoire and enhance my sight reading!
Tiffany, you are such an inspiration. I won't detail my story, but for sure you are a good influence in many lifes and it is certain that you are making us strive more. I am finally unfolding completely the love for music and other passions and freeing myself from all the fears that blocked me for so many years. Thank you because you have a big part in this as well!
Tiffany, I was doing housework and took a break (procrastinated) on the sofa, started this video, and was completely mesmerized...this was so beautiful (as I was typing you slapped the bug lol). Thanks again for an amazing practice video!
Folowing your thoughts, inner conversations, lightness of your hands on the keys and ease of sight reading is so enriching, we can learn a lot about Mozart, music and you... and somehow about us as well... thank you for giving us an amazing opportunity to peek into your music studio
Every time I see a top-level professional pianist sight-reading something at a level far beyond what I'm ever able to do, I have nothing but admiration
Thank you, Tiffany, for your wonderful videos. You are an inspiration to all of us. Of course the fact that you sight read that concerto better than I’d play it after a year of practicing doesn’t depress me at all..........NOT!!!!!! Seriously....great stuff.
this is very special . not everyday you get to see the inner workings of a great pianist. humble insightful and beautiful. now I want to practice..thank you very much!
Hi Tiffany, after some difficulties ordering with my Mac-Computer I finally succeeded and I have my ticket now. I'm really looking forward to your concert as I know that it will be first class, from the technical side as well from the artistic side of your playing. Thank you to make this happen again. 🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
What a beautiful and joyful piece, full of hope and life. watching you practice is an insight opening up this music to me, I’d never listen otherwise! Can’t wait to hear it in full.
Got into playing the piano like 3 years ago. Love watching your videos and it's such an inspiration to see! First concert ever and now I can't wait for the dreamstage concert 🥺❤️
OH MY GOSH I LOVE THIS CONCERTO SO MUCH!!!!!!! I got the privilege of hearing this concerto played a few times in Italy when I went last summer, and you sight reading sounds so good!!
Tiffany... I have started to following your channel since moths ago, i enjoy so much watching you to practice. This hard times make me feel so depressed, maybe i could be defeated by this. I stoped to play and practice, i cant feel the same. And i cant play without a reason... I feel what my light has dissapeared. I try.
I used to study music composition back at university. After I lost my job because of the pandemic, I thought I lost all passion in music.. but your videos inspired me to start playing and making music again, many thanks from South Korea! Love you!
Yes! A Mozart piece played by Tiffany. (I remembered since Piano Sonata in E flat major *and Piano Concerto No. 19 in F major) A lovely sight reading! (The best alongside with your music). I cried now with joy whenever she uploads a video.
I'm preparing for my Level 2 RCM exam for next month. This morning I went back to my Level 1 repertoire for sight-reading practice and felt good that I could do it reasonably well. Watching Tiffany's incredible sight-reading skills gives me a goal to aim for. Thanks!
So wonderful ❤️, I often wonder if anyone has mapped out all of Mozart's reused bits (like noted at 4:23), this was apparently common in Mozart's time...I basically loop all of his concertos and sonatas and it drives me nuts sometimes 😮😋
I just love love love the little comments🥰 it’s probably a lot of work to edit all of those in, but I really appreciate them! It just lets you understand the whole thought process way better. I play the piano too, I‘ve been playing it for 14 years now, and I think it’s super interesting to see a professional pianist practice😊
Love this. It goes to show all pianists have to iron out the small sections in any piece of music, even professionals of your calibre. It's refreshing and doesn't make me fall so bad about myself now 😊
Hi! My name is tiffany as well 😁 And i am learning this concert and on the 24.11 i will be playing it with my academy’s orchestra! And i just yesterday thought ‘it would be fun if she (you) played it as well and i posts herself practicing’ haha Also in two days i am playing the first part on a concert with a second piano accompaniment Love your vids! 💕💕
This is so great! The Mozart concertos are some of my favorite music. I know them well as a listener so it was especially interesting to hear your very insightful comments on Mozart's musical personality as you played through. I will go back now and re-listen to my favorite recordings with fresh ears. Cool! And thanks! The slow movement of 14 is especially beautiful and ethereal. Put some Debussy spirit in there! Well, I know of the pause key and slow-mo play in YT, but i hallucinate that the times for reading texts getting shorter and shorter even with pause key, maybe there is some way to let even older and slower people know whats written there, pretty please 😁🤷♀️🤷♂️😁
10:33 That's a nice variation :) It still amazes me that you will be able to remember all this notes and accidentals! Even with the score I find it already hard to play...
As someone who has only been learning piano for the last one and a half years, seeing someone pick up such a complex piece so quickly effectively looks like witchcraft :) So awesome!
When sidereading along I always realize how lucky I was that the first instruments I learned to play as a kid were drums. So sightreading rhythms correctly is definately my thing.
Hi Tiffany.. besides the sight reading and practicing vlogs, are you thinking on share with us some technic tips? I mean.. how did you speed up your passages back then when you were student. i think we all need it and of course it'll have a good reception
Reading notes aside, it's sooo interesting to see how other people interpret music on-the-fly :0 like all the different articulations starting from 10:00
Ahhhhh I can finally tell you!!! December 5, 2020 - 11AM EDT

I‘m happy with you and very much looking forward to your concert.😍

Tiffany I am 10 years old and i am playing the piano 4 years and i am grade 4 i love you so much and i am your biggest fun!
Keep on going child, I am sure you will be great someday.
My best wishes to you! I believe you will be a good pianist.

its such a big flex when tiffany can sight read a piece better than you could play it after practicing for months. honestly what a pianist
Many pianists can sightread like this... I'm just "shameless" enough to show it on TH-cam. I'm not special...

I have not listened or heard that concerto in maybe 20 years?? Hearing it again cheered me up. Ticket enthusiastically purchased.
The little comments from the editing are quite possibly the best thing ive seen all day👌😂 not to mention the sightreading being basically god tier
Yes I love'm but she could hold them a few microseconds longer ⌚
LOWER TICKET PRICE of $15!!! YAY! Thanks DreamStage, Tiffany and Eric Jacobsen & Bridgeport Symphony Orchestra! See you there! 8)
I'm watching you, Tiffany. Very cute
Thank you for showing little beginner me that it's okay to slip up as you sight read. Brilliant playing, really reflects all the years of work
You always rock sightreading! Not even talking about the sightreading itself but I love how you immediately get into the music!
Nice Tiffany!!! You should play more Mozart!!! Congrats on being able to do another concert with Dreamstage!!

K.488 is my favorite Mozart Piano Concerto. Well, one of my favorites piano concertos, period.
Oh no! Cant believe it’s your first time playing! The notes are beautifully expressed. Very looking forwards to a full version on stage!

Love your comments when you encounter those notes in first time
Literally IMAGINE- not me spending an hour today sightreading twelve measures of an invention 🗿
Love the fly and the sanitising wipe. Too cute. A human touch to the image of a professional musician.
I struggle a lot in sight reading but I will keep reading a lot of peace to become the level of sight reading you are in now😊👍
The little comments you put in the bottom right corner are so helpful! Even as a casual player I get some insight into good practicing measures!!
