    A fluid coupling or hydraulic coupling is a hydrodynamic or 'hydrokinetic' device used to transmit rotating mechanical power.[1] It has been used in automobile transmissions as an alternative to a mechanical clutch. It also has widespread application in marine and industrial machine drives, where variable speed operation and controlled start-up without shock loading of the power transmission system is essential.
    Hydrokinetic drives, such as this, should be distinguished from hydrostatic drives, such as hydraulic pump and motor combinations.
    The fluid coupling, also known as hydraulic coupling, is a hydrodynamic mechanism used to transfer rotational force from one shaft to another by means of transmission fluid. It is used in vehicle transmission systems, marine propulsion systems and power transmission industries.
    In general fluid couplings are used in Belt conveyors, Extruders, Centrifuges, Bucket elevators, Ball mills, Crushers, Mixers, Slurry pumps, Compressors, Industrial fans, Feeders, Diesel locomotives, Wagon tipplers, Boiler feed pumps, Reciprocating pumps, Process Pumps, Dryers
    What are the two types of fluid coupling?
    Fluid couplings are used in automotive, mining, power generation, material handling, oil and gas, marine, mobile equipment, and other transportation-related applications. In terms of fill, there are two types of devices: fluid couplings with constant fill and fill-controlled turbo couplings.
    Fluid coupling can run smoothly even in extreme conditions. The power transmission is free from vibration. There is no chance of vibration noises when power transmitted from vibrating engine to the driven shaft by using a fluid coupling. Fluid coupling can be used in both vertical and horizontal application.
    Where is fluid coupling?
    Fluid couplings are found in some Diesel locomotives as part of the power transmission system. Self-Changing Gears made semi-automatic transmissions for British Rail, and Voith manufacture turbo-transmissions for diesel multiple units which contain various combinations of fluid couplings and torque converters.
    What is fluid coupling and diagram?
    A fluid coupling consists of a pair of bladed wheels that face each other but make no physical contact. One wheel, called the impeller, gets connected to a power source. The other, called the turbine, receives power from the impeller that transfers directly to the transmission
    What is the working principle of coupling?
    Working principle of coupling
    It is used to connect two shafts of the same or different diameters together. The motor is transmitting power from the drive side and the propeller is on the driven side. The coupling does not transfer the heat etc. of the motor to the driven side

    In torque converter there is a one way reactor present between the turbines which is responsible for the multiplication of torque, this is the major difference between torque converter and normal fluid coupling...

    Braking and accelerating will affect the engine the acceleration will try to increase the rpm of engine on the other hand braking will stop the engine as a result more fuel will enter the engine but engine will run at loww rpm which is dangerous and will damage engine

    Sir agar brake aur accelerator dono sath mai dabayege to engine main jo variator plate hai uske adar ke ball friction ke wajah se kharab hote hai ,aur kabhi kabhi damage bhi hote hai,us wajah se unwanted noise bhi hota hai.

      Sir apke question ka answer ye samajh aa raha hai ki agar accelerator aur break satha dabaye to fluid ke pressure se turbine blade tootne ka khatra ho sakta hai .. aur fluid jyada garm ho jayega jisse blade फैल jayengi .. aur saft me jyada torsion hone ki vajah se saft ke lootne ka dar hoga ??? Am I right??? Sir ..
