      +salasdavisr thanks, cordless no but they have similar corded drills, here's their version of the corded super hawg amzn.to/1kAe3dO by dewalt. This specific model looks more like the corded hole hawg but it specs out similar to the super hawg

    I used to use a Hole Hawg almost every day for work as a rough in plumber. The torque is definitely dangerously strong, but necessarily so. How does the torque of the new cordless Super Hawg compare to the corded? It seems like Milwaukee is intentionally making it difficult to get torque specs on these cordless versions.

      +ggrimm79 yeah the torque on the corded hole hawg is dangerous. You really have to lean the tool on the direction it spins or else youll yank your arm off. The power on the m18 super hawg is insane for a cordless 18v power tool. Its hard to tell how powerful it is though as it has a safety feature the torque limiting clutch on low speed which kicks in so you don't break your arm off.

    Great review. My nephews bought the regular m18 hole hawg to drill logs we put a 5/8 16" long bit on it and it stalled at 8 inches. My Milwaukee gen 3 drill on high goes to 10 inches I the switch to low and sinks the bit all the way. I wonder if I can sink that bit with the super hole hawg. My drill overheats a lot. So I'd like something that is more designed for that. Can the super hole hawg drill with that type 16" 5/8 bit in a fast manner

      The reason the M18 hole hawg can't do it is because of its gearing. It's only got one speed, high speed, so of course it will stall and overheat if you go that deep. Even till this day, no other cordless drill (regular type like the Gen 3 hammer drill) has the power of the M18 hole hawg in high speed.
      The reason the M18 gen 3 can do it is because as you said, it's on the low speed gear which gives it better leverage. Try doing the same hole on speed 2 with the Gen 3 and then compare with what the hole hawg can do.
      As for your question about the super hole hawg doing that hole, I'm sure it can on low speed without a problem, high speed, I wouldn't know till it was tried. Might be ok since from what I remember (I made this review video several years ago) the high speed rpm might not be as fast as the original hole hawg. But be sure to double check.

    Can you easily use the standard hole hog to drill from below?

  • @wildgoose6596

    So here's the question everyone is wondering after seeing those two beasts next to one another... Did you try drilling massive holes with the Hole Hawg, and how did it do?

    • @ToolCraze
      @ToolCraze  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Wild Goose I'll have to try it out. When I got the hole hawg I couldn't test it out with the hole saws I had at the time because the hole saw arbor I had had a smaller shank so it wouldn't fit in the quik-lok chuck. I'll have to try it out now that I have a hole saw arbor that fits. I'll keep you updated when I try out the hole hawg with big hole saws. I will say that it probably wont do too well because the gearing could be too high. I believe it runs at 1,200 rpm while the super hawg runs at 950 rpm on high speed. Also it appears the super hawg might be using a larger possibly stronger motor than the hole hawg.
      One thing I can guarantee is that the m18 hole hawg will definitely wont be able to run self feed bits 2-9/16" or larger as even the super hawg couldn't run them on high speed. The super hawg can run some seriously large self feed bits b but on low speed only.
