Chancellor Randy Woodson thanks NC State faculty and staff for their work in battling the coronavirus and moving the university forward as it transitions to online classes for undergraduates.
I’m disappointed in NCSU’S efforts, from preparation to innovation and I think everyone has the right to be. I can’t help but question what was expected; having everyone move back like this. There were some fair efforts to try and make things better but when it comes to the safety of people and delivering of our education I think it really just wasn’t enough. This whole thing also presents grave fiscal troubles on people. People have to spend gas, travel, make leases, take off from work and so much more. I feel like the summer went by and very little was done on the schools part to try and combat COVID, ensure good online mediums, some quality education, and in general looking out for the students and staff who support this school and make it what it is. It applies so much stress to people and their family’s too. I’m not trying to be unreasonable about it, these are hard times and life is just gonna suck, but that isn’t an excuse for an institution like ncsu, that receives ample funding, to dodge core responsibilities. The efforts and measures taken should have been extensive. I get that these are unpredictable times but that excuse expired last spring, classes are very sub par in their current form, learning is tough on the students and sometimes the teachers too. You have to remember the students are going through this hard time too, it is unjust to pass more troubles to us just because it is easier. There are a lot of loyal students and staff who just sit here and take it and are even satisfied, but I think those great men and women deserve better. After all it is us who lose the best experiences and best years of our life to this virus, it is our careers and knowledge that take the hit we aren’t the only ones losing out but we sure are losing a lot. I get suffering because of the times but this sentiment often ends up as an excuse and it doesn’t mean things can’t be alleviated. To the people who did work hard every day ensuring our dining experience was sanitary, and all the folks who observed good care toward the virus I thank YOU full heartily. When I say go pack I say so referring to the students who have to suffer, the staff who are doing a proper job, and the teachers who care. I don’t say it because I’m blindly patriotic towards the school or the people who run it. I’m sure while we are all at home boarded up listening to awful zoom recordings our tuition will be well spent mowing the laws and trimming the hedges.

Go Pack! We can do this!
