Got my glider license a year ago flying Schweizer 2-33's with Air Cadets. Never flew after that due to weather and the airport being 2 hours away plus instructor checkouts, and being super busy overall. Now that I'm out of cadets, hopefully I can get back in the air after I get myself a membership for a gliding club! Thanks for the inspiration :)
@Sepe so gliders are usually owned by a club. What you do is you buy a membership for a club that owns them, then you pay for the rental of the glider you wanna fly plus the height of the air tow. Unfortunately you cannot fly gliders with a regular private pilot license as it's a completely separate license but it doesn't take that long to get. Flying gliders is still quite a bit cheaper than flying powered aircraft though.

Perfect !!! LOL I had a friend who put his Cirrus in the trailer with the wings still attached .....His brake malfunctioned
You need to check the brake on the runway and then the risk is ok.

Whats the highest speed you have ever reached with that glider?
Max allowed speed is 280 kph. I flew about 250 kph with this glider, because it is not my own and I only had it for one competition.

Der Abflug erfolgt wie beim Grand Prix zur gleichen Zeit mit einer maximalen Abflughöhe und Geschwindigkeit. Geflogen sind wir mit Index und es waren maximal 18 Meter Flugzeuge zugelassen. Während der Aufgabe durften wir täglich 2 kWh Energie vom Akku verfliegen, ohne dass wir Strafsekunden bekommen haben. Wenn man mehr verwendet hat, gab es pro 1 kWh 15 Minuten Strafe. Die Wertung erfolgt wie bei Radrennen oder auch Autorennen, jedoch hat hier Naviter noch Probleme gehabt das richtig darzustellen. Eigentlich sollte der 1. Pilot eine gewisse Zeit haben, z.B. 2:30 h und die anderen Piloten +5 min etc. In der Gesamtwertung werden die Zeiten dann addiert. Schön ist dass man so sehen kann, wieviel Minuten man aufholen muss oder auch Vorsprung zum nachfolgenden Platz hat. Bei der Punktewertung der "normalen" Wettbewerbe ist das sehr undurchsichtig. Grundsätzlich hat das alles sehr gut funktioniert und viel Spaß gemacht. Über eine Belohnung der Tagessieger mit einem Zeitbonus oder auch einem Energiebonus für den nächsten Flugtag, kann man noch diskutieren. Dann werden die Endanflüge wieder spannender, so wie beim Grand Prix.
Klingt wie ne Hupe beim Ausrollen, und dann kam der Traktor durchs Bild. 😂
